Found in Rave is the new album from John B - an energetic, imaginative collection that fuses his love of gaming, rave culture and high-impact drum & bass. Packed with personality and power, it showcases the range and individuality that have kept John B at the forefront of the scene for over two decades. Each track carries his trademark balance of intensity, humour and meticulous production - unmistakably his sound, but refined with a sharper creative focus and purpose.

Leading the charge is ‘Terminal Hardcore’, a fierce, full-throttle hardbass anthem loaded with Escape from Tarkov references and a tongue-in-cheek vocal performance that fans will instantly recognise. The accompanying music video - premiering on Pestily’s pre-release Tarkov special - invites gamers and streamers from across the community to appear in full rave mode. Alongside it sit the thunderous ‘At Doom’s Gate’, the euphoric ‘Halo Theme’, and the nostalgic ‘Double Dragon Theme’ - all reimagined for the dancefloor and designed to capture the spirit of classic gaming through a modern DNB lens.

Six of the tracks on Found in Rave are directly inspired by Escape from Tarkov - a game that’s become a key part of John’s creative universe. It began with ‘Hold Your Fire (It’s The Wipe)’, which catapulted him into the Tarkov community and led to his now-iconic in-game “streamer item” - the John B DNB sunglasses. That success opened the door to collaborations with top streamers, including The Killada, written for Pestily’s car project. 

Across 14 tracks, the album bursts with energy and variety - from the punk-fuelled chaos of ‘Hold Your Fire!’ and ‘Disconnected’ to the festival-sized power of ‘Das Boot’ and ‘The Arena’. It’s John B doing what he does best: merging big ideas with pure rave energy, bridging the worlds of gaming, streaming and drum & bass with a unique style that’s exciting, unpredictable and unmistakably his own.

Following the success of his recent Metalheadz release Ventil-8, John B returns with a bold, cinematic Drum & Bass statement on his own Beta Recordings imprint. Enter the spellbinding world of “Hypnotize” – a track that fuses rave energy with widescreen, cinematic ambition.

“Hypnotize” opens with a monumental intro – lush, Jarre-inspired synths swell into a towering Messiah-like choir, underpinned by the low growl of a rising reece bassline. The atmosphere is electric, loaded with anticipation, culminating in a chilling female war-cry scream, evocative of Dune-era Hans Zimmer – powerful, otherworldly, and emotionally charged.

As the drop hits, John B launches into a relentless stepper, driven by heavyweight drums, rolling classic breaks, and a hypnotic pulse. Laced through the track are Middle Eastern and Indian horn and flute samples, adding a rich, mystical texture to the soundscape. A spoken female vocal – “Hypnotize” – punctuates the rhythm, locking the listener into a deep trance.

At its core is a soaring, anthemic synth motif – a nod to the spirit of early rave but reframed through a futuristic, cybernetic lens. It’s the sound of a future warehouse dream – raw, emotional, and utterly immersive.

Internationally acclaimed Drum & Bass producer and DJ John B unveils his next epic single: a powerful and uplifting reimagining of the legendary Halo theme. 

Set for release on 12 June via his Beta Recordings imprint, Halo transforms one of the most iconic video game soundtracks of all time into a cinematic, adrenaline-fueled Drum & Bass masterpiece.

Originally composed by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori for the groundbreaking 2001 video game Halo: Combat Evolved, the original theme is instantly recognisable for its haunting Gregorian-style choir, powerful orchestration, and otherworldly atmosphere. With this new DNB version, John B brings the theme into 2025 with driving two-step drums, reese basslines, soaring synths, and massive cinematic energy - while preserving the epic emotional weight of the original.

Staying true to the spirit of the source material, John B recreated every element from scratch, using authentic-sounding orchestral textures, layered choirs, and modern synths — all performed and produced without using any direct samples from the original. The result is a respectful, high-octane tribute that blends nostalgia with forward-thinking sound design, delivering a track equally at home in a DJ set or on a gaming playlist.

Halo lands as John B enters one of the busiest and most exciting phases of his career to date. Alongside a packed international DJ schedule - with upcoming appearances at TwitchCon Rotterdam, Newquay, Tallinn, and COAL Festival in the Czech Republic - John is also making his scoring debut, having recently signed on to create the soundtrack for his first feature film, as well as composing original music for a video game project.

History begins here: 18 years after its release, John B’s ground-breaking debut album ‘Visions’ receives a long-overdue remastering and full deluxe reboot. 

Aged with authority and authenticity: ‘Visions’ reminds us just how forward-thinking the Beta Records founder has always been. Strictly doing his own thing since he came into the game at 18; John penned ‘Visions’ as two distinct chapters, both parts grasping two of late 90s drum & bass’s most exciting sounds and pulling them into groundbreaking new directions. 

Part one, ‘Organic’ saw John swerve the standard sample-smashing of the era to create warm, full bodied natural grooves from real musicians. In a stark twist of contrast, part two ‘Synthetic’ foretold both the techstep phenomenon and his own angular, precision electro edge that were to soundtrack our entrance into the new century. One side au natural, one side machine manufactured: both techniques and approaches still dominant in drum & bass today... ‘Visions’ by name, visionary by nature. 

It also comes complete with total remake of his hugely successful Vangelis-inspired ‘Starburst’. Previously constructed on analogue synths, ‘Starburst 2016’ was re-created from the ground up with modern synths and contemporary production. While the scene continues to forage for antiquities, John shows us the other side of the sonic coin once again.   

‘Starburst’ isn’t the only track to enjoy an update: every track you hear on the album has been remastered. The production, however, remains timeless: No one knew how well ‘Visions’ would sound 18 years later. No one knew how well it would document drum & bass’s infant years. Still sounding slick and bursting with creative ideas, the album tells the story of both an artist and a genre growing up, fizzing with directions and ambitions.  

‘Organic’: A maze of mischievous jazz and funk experimentalism. A sharp sense of youthful melody and off-beat surprises await as we spring through the horn-heavy haze of tracks such as ‘Sax Therapy’, ‘Jazz Session’, the purring keys and slap bass of ‘Slamfunk (Moog Remix)’ and sunset soul of ‘Reflections’. The spacious, Orient-focused penultimate track ‘The Second Judgement’ teases for the darkness of what’s set to follow... 

‘Synthetic’: While the first part showcased John’s funkier, soulful musicality, ‘Synthetic’ really established his pedigree as a premiership producer. Forecasting today’s highly technical, synthetic production style you can hear John pushing his machines to their limits, finding new sounds and techniques. The wriggling alien bass of ‘VCF’, the razor-sharp Detroitian electro iciness of ‘Electro Shock’, the iron-fist two-step and sci-fi breakdown of ‘Travelogue’. Not to mention the clear proto techstep dynamics of ‘Sight Beyond’ and ‘Secrets’. Several years ahead of their time, they play a role in one of the most gamechanging chapters in drum & bass. 

No surprises, then, that ‘Visions’ found home in the selections of the most influential DJs at the time - Grooverider, SS, Adam F, Goldie, Photek. It’s here where John dug deep foundations for his fusionist, futurist signature: an amorphous sense of development and narrative, tightly balanced shades and contrasts, well-chiselled breaks and sharp synthesis.  

Every genre has its small selection of pivotal albums that show clear signs of progression, influence and documentation and brand new benchmarks: ‘Visions’ is an album that lives up to its name in ways John never could have imagined at the time. The future is now...
