Staying true to Blue!
As I left my ultrasound today I was feeling pretty happy until I realized that there would come a day about 11 years from now when I would be saying goodbye to my two pinks and would be left with three teenage blues ranging in age from 11 to 16. Greg on the other hand was smiling sweetly and I felt like our roles had just reversed from the day we found out we were having twin pinks ( he was in shock for a couple of days after that one ) . Oh well, no blues for me, just less pink!!!

How much do you use your thumb anyway?

About a month ago, Greg and I finally agreed on painting the brick on our fireplace white. Greg stayed up one night and primed it ( I tried to help but that was the last night of the late show with Conan O'Brien and I couldn't keep my eyes off the T.V. ) Somehow during this process Greg got something in his thumb that started an infection. The infection and pain grew for two days until he could no longer take the pain. Being an Anesthesia Resident he decided to block his thumb and slice into it to relieve the pressure and get out the infection ( this is at my kitchen table of course ) After a couple of tries he gives up because no infection would come out. A couple of more days go by and the man is in the most pain he has ever been in - and my husband has been in a lot of pain in his life. ( Flashback to him driving to Lexington for a Bone Marrow Biopsy the day after he had surgery to remove kidney stones, them he drove back home right after the procedure). Anyway, long story short, he gets a minor surgery on his thumb at work one night where they sliced it open and cleaned the whole thing out. They found out he had MRSA in his thumb - aren't we all so glad that he was still able to do Anesthesia on sick patients right after this? He then proceeds to take the most pain medication I have ever seen one person take at a time and I am up all night making sure he is still alive.
Apparently, having an infection in your thumb is one of the worst places to have surgery on the body. The nerve endings there are highly sensitive. Here are a few pics......oh , and I added one from when Greg had a Strep infection in his blood in November and was hospitalized for a week. The picture is from when he was still at home and decided he needed an I.V. ......on my chair. This is life with a Resident people, Surgeries at the kitchen table and I.V.'s on the couch. Who knew?
I just realized i added these pictures in reverse order. Oh well!

New Title, New year!
Even though I never update my Blog I go to it almost daily to check on the other Blogs that I follow. As I got onto my Blog today I felt my toes curl as I read the words to my title " Blog Shmog" from my last post. I cannot read that one more time....so my post today is just to give myself a new title to look at...sorry...nothing good to say here!!!

Blog ..Shmog!
OK, so I have proven that I shouldn't have a Blog because I don't ever post anything. I am too impatient to sit down and find pictures and try to think of something cute or clever or funny to say. Sometimes cute, clever, and funny things happen and I think " I should write about that" but then the moment is gone and it's back to dishes or laundry or dinner or talking on the phone or Oprah or whatever else sounds fun .......oooh, like reorganizing the bins that hold my children's clothing for the umpteenth time or the toys in toy room, or the hallway closet, etc....
Anyway, I was just searching through some pictures from the last year and thought I would post a few of my favorites from this past summer. That way I can feel like I just " caught up " on all the posts that I haven't done. Yeah for Me!!!!

This is a cute photo taken after church one day in June!
Hayden had a nickname going for a while there of " green shovel man" because the child had to be carrying around a plastic green shovel with him at all times. He would eat with it, take a bath with it, sleep with it, carry it in his car seat...you name it. It was kind of sad when the love affair ended.
Rio has really come into her own over the last few months. She is pretty much a tom-boy and wants to do everything the boys do. She even cried when I told her she could not get her hair cut like a boy. She is competitive, driven, and not scared of anything....except blood.....she is addicted to band aids.
The girls started school on July 17th. We are in a year-round school district here. They love going to the bus stop to play with their friends every morning.
We traveled to Washington to attend Talen ( Greg's Sister ) and James wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and so much fun. We danced all night and really had a great time. The girls were her flower girls and Logan was the ring bearer. They stole the show of course!
With some of their cousins at the Marinos family reunion in Colorado! It was a memorable reunion with the stomach flu going around. Rio and Rylee spent their entire 7th birthday laying on the floor in my parents family room surrounded with towels and bowls to throw up in. There were about 53 people at the reunion and about 75 % of us ended up sick. Good times!!

Field Day !!

Last Tuesday I volunteered at Rio and Rylee's Kindergarten field day. It was a lot of fun and a beautiful day! The girls had huge smiles on their faces the whole time. One of the other mothers took these pictures. She said that the girls won the race by a mile. I guess it helps when your partner is the same exact size as you and has been your running mate since the day you could walk....Greg and I are already planning on synchronized swimming and doubles tennis for these two.

Logan's Birthday Party!!
Here are a few pictures from Logan's 4th birthday party. He was so excited to have me make him a Thomas Cake. I thought it turned out pretty good for my first attempt at frosting a picture on a cake. He invited his three best friends Cameron, Cooper and Ashlyn. They jumped on the trampoline filled with balloons, took turns rolling inside the big red ball, ate lunch and played with the new presents. Logan seemed to have a really good time which, of course, makes me happy. He keeps reassuring me that even though he is four years old now he is still my little boy. He is always looking out for me and my feelings--every moms dream!
