Since I'm getting a few new people here *waves hi* I want to take this time to remind people about my 'works in progress' filter. Let's see, if you can see this entry, you're on it. If not, and you wanted to be bombarded with many many WIP versions of the same painting, comment here and let me know.
Also, if you ever want to be removed, comment here as well.

There's still a few days left on the Inner Space kickstarter - we're almost at the kickstarter exclusive cover, which I'm YAYNO about - yay new cover, NO I HAVE TO DO A DIGITAL PIECE IN WEEKS AND NOT MONTHS. I can do it!
We already hit the bonus comic (which will be 18-19 pages and exclusive to the book) which I'm hard at work on.
Here's some of the art I've been doing!
The cover art!

The fat little demon dog that's in the bonus comic.
The bookplate that's going to be a kickstarter exclusive as well.
Thanks everyone who's pledged. I'm so excited about this!

Sorry, it's gonna be all Inner Space all the time for the next couple of weeks or so. Anyways, this is the sticker sheet for my kickstarter - we're getting super close to the stretch goal for it and everyone at $12 and above gets stickers!
Please give it a look and consider pledging if you're able!
I have come back from the... not-so-dead... to pimp my Inner Space kickstarter project! This is the way to get a signed/sketched copy!

My Kickstarter is still going strong - it hit funding a few days ago, and I've got the art book assembled and at the printer. I should be sent a proof soon, then I can submit the final order and stuff. BTW, guys, that art book is RIDICULOUSLY underpriced at $35 and is going to $50 after the campaign is over, so if you've ever wanted an art book from me, now's the time to get it. And you get a deck of cards to go with it!
I've also started on a new deck of cards that I'm attempting in a more traditional manner (I've actually gotten involved in a playing card forum and they've been extremely helpful in steering me in the right direction.) The new deck's going to be an owl deck (of course) and it's tons of fun to do. I think I may have discovered a new love. At the advice of some hunter friends, I may be doing a duck deck after this.
Anyways, on to the art!

So I got a tumblr account, and I'm going to try to use it more often (at least, more often than this journal!) My Tumblr is here: parrotea.tumblr.com. Just a PSA!
So last night, during our Dungeons and Dragons gaming session,
eclipsegryph proposed to me. Yeah, during the session! We had just killed a troglodyte and four dire lions, and his character 'found' a scroll on the ground, with a ring attached to it. That was when he brought out an actual 'scroll' and ring. The scroll turned out to be the first picture I ever drew of him - it's over 13 years old at this point, I think.
Of course, I said yes! I was so floored that I couldn't even say anything for a few seconds, and when brought the picture out I was so amazed that he still had it that I had to show all our friends before giving my answer. I'm sure he appreciated that!
So yeah. No date yet, but I expect it'll happen sometime next year! I'm so happy!

The picture in question, and also one of the first gryphons I ever drew as well!

The ring - amethyst, my favorite stone.

I fell off the updating wagon but here I am again, just in time for my birthday! But according to Patton Oswalt it's a non-special birthday because I'm turning 31. I don't get another party for 9 more years. Darn.
Anyways, I spent the day pruning grape vines, rescanning and editing comic pages, and getting a little writing in. I'm doing pretty well on the writing front as well - I had a big seller in January and I've already got the sequel written, edited, and ready to publish so I think I'm set on that front. In other news, I've gotten some good advice on my parrot novel and I'm doing a more intensive edit on that. Hopefully it'll be ready for another look-through in a couple of weeks. We'll see!
Further Confusion was fun - I had a great time catching up with friends and meeting some west coast people that I don't usually get to see. I also talked to a couple of publishers (Sofawolf and Jarlidium Press) about the possibility of publishing Inner Space in print form. We'll see where that goes. They both have expressed interest so I'm pretty optimistic that I'll be able to get it published somewhere.
I'm also (because I'm insane) pondering the possibility of starting a new comic. It will be a full color comic based on some drawings I did of anthro collared falconets a few years back, but it's a pretty ambitious project so it'll be a few months before I start serious work on it. For now, I need to focus on writing because that's where the money is, and Inner Space.
Anyways, that's my life right now! 2013 has started out pretty good, and I'm hoping it'll continue to be good.

And guess who's coming with meeeeee:

Pippin. How are you even alive?
But yeah, rather than try to find some sort of bird sitter I'm just going to take her with me in her little travel cage. And I have three panels in the art show! I've got some originals and a few prints, so hopefully there will be things in everyone's price range. If anyone even wants to buy my stinky art, hahaha!
So, I'll hang around the con some days, and do other things other days. We'll see!

So, the verdict came back a few days ago; my beloved tC was totalled. Emptying her out ranked up there as one of the worst experiences of my life. I miss that car so much.
That said... car shopping commenced yesterday. Long day was long.
I e-mailed a guy about his RX-8 that I saw on Craigslist that morning, and then rather than sit around and fret
eclipsegryph and I went out to test drive cars. I then got an e-mail from said guy, so hoping things would get in motion and we could go look at his car, we went home and butted around. He didn't get back to me, and I got to fret more. Then on a whim I searched through Craigslist for Eclipses in the area one more time. As luck would have it, I saw a 2008 Eclipse GT Spyder for a killer price, at a dealership of all places!
Yeah, I bought it.
The sales associate was really cool - my age, so we joked about pop culture and Napoleon Dynamite as he took me through the paperwork. I was very relieved that this particular dealership was also pretty low pressure and laid back, like the place I bought my tC from, and there was no haggling. I was already getting private party for the car, and that was about as good as I could expect. Even better, actually.
So in the end, in this round I test drove one of the newer tCs, a Ford Fiesta (WTF? Pushy sales lady at the Ford dealership practically forced me into that car. I told her I was looking a sporty two door. A FIESTA IS NEITHER), and I made
eclipsegryph smash his giant man body into as many Miatas as I could find.
OH, and since the dealership I was buying the Eclipse at was Chevy, the sales associate who was helping me got wind via
eclipsegryph that I loooooooove Corvettes, and he took me out for a spin in one! I swear, if I had more dollars and less sense I would have walked out with that car and not the Eclipse.

And of course, it would figure that the day I buy a convertible, it's slated to rain for a good 10 days. Oh well, it's winter and it's not like I'm going to put the top down anyways. I totally didn't do that with my loaner. Not once. Right.
And the upgrading has already started as well. I'm looking into struts and springs OR coilovers (because dear God, dat wheel gap), a sway bar, and a bit of electronics work. It doesn't have an AUX port but they're easy to put in, so that will be my first mod.
Anyways. Sweet car. V6, premium wheels, premium sound system, and faster than the tC ever was. Even with all that though, I still miss her. But I'm sure I can get just as attached to this one.
The end. Have a Pippin.

So I got into another car accident, my worst accident ever, and this time 100% not my fault. I was going straight down a somewhat busy road, not speeding, minding my own business, when an idiot teenager just decided to turn left right in front of me.

Obviously, he didn't make it. And neither did my car. I went flying off the road, the side air bags deployed and I bashed my head into them, and came to a rest on the sidewalk in the opposite direction where I was headed.
It was kind of funny - the second I saw him start turning, I immediately started screaming curse words as I desperately spun the wheel and braked, trying to avoid him, but there was just no way. I didn't have enough time. As soon as my car came to a rest, I saw red and yelled "I'm gonna kill you!" and anyone who knows how much I love my car knows this reaction was coming. He parked quite a ways away though, and by the time I actually got to him I was a little calmer.
Anyways, the police came, then tow trucks came, and I got towed off to some area of Santa Rosa that I have no clue about. I called my insurance and I'm meeting with an adjuster sometime next week. I'm not sure when. In the mean time, I was picked up by Enterprise and given a loaner. It's a Mustang, of all things. Pretty sweet, but not my car.
All I've been thinking all night is I hope it isn't totalled. I'm not ready to give this car up. I was planning on driving her 10 years or even more. This car is my baby and I'm so not ready to cut the cord. In a fit of pathetic sadness I sat down with her maintenance folder and looked through everything I'd done to her. Struts, springs, exhaust, sway bar, even putting the hitch on. If she's totalled, it's all gone.
I'm so sad. :(

Seriously. I have to stop with the 'don't update in a billion years, then update with a NOVEL.' Literally. I finished a novel during NaNoWriMo, and I'm going to post it here once I have it edited. It's about Parrots. PARROTS! I want to try shopping it around and see if there's any interest in getting in traditionally published.
So, in the past few months, I wrote that parrot novel, edited/rewrote 40k on my YA novel, wrote a butt-ton of trashy romance, and oh yeah, Inner Space is almost done. I have one page left to write/draw, and I'm finished with it. I'm going to start a page marathon starting December 8, and just post a page a day through Christmas. Scary, isn't it? I've been working on that comic for over seven years and it's finally going to be done.
I don't know what I'm going to do with myself after I finish it.
Anyways. Have a Pippin.

She has this weird love-hate relationship with shoes. I don't understand you Pippin
( MOAR PIPPINCollapse )

You are not a Skylander. You're drunk. Go home.

Yeah I play Skylanders. :P
I should do an actual update, but not much is going on. I'm writing, painting, working on the comic, and every few days
eclipsegryph comes over and we do silly stuff. Oh, I finished the second draft of my YA novel. It's 30k longer at 80k now, and about 40k of it was completely rewritten. So half. And it took me about a month? Yeah, I'm writing fast now. I don't know if it's GOOD, but I write faster.
I'm also doing NaNoWriMo, in which I will be writing a youth parrot novel, about the parrots of Telegraph Hill. It should be interesting!

So, I still have this journal, apparently. Stuff keeps happening, and I keep forgetting to post about it!
Anyways, it is National Sit on Eclipse day. Mwahahahahahaha!

AND, I'm going over to see him next week! Eeeeeee! I'll be gone from the 21st to the 29th, so don't expect any Inner Space updates for that week, for those who read.
In other news, I'm doing good. January was a wee bit stressful for me, but February has been much kinder to me so far. Hopefully the coming months will be even better.
I also got my hitch, and installed it a few weeks ago. It involved cutting holes in my car's frame, THE HORROR.
In other other news, I has a Pippin, and I loves her a ridiculous lot.

I should make an actual update... I WANT to make a post about this mixer I got, but it's taking longer to fix/clean up that I originally thought. Maybe I'll post about that in a week or so... provided I can actually get it fixed!

Taking next week off because I’M ON VAYCAYTION!
…has anyone else noticed I’ve been taking a lot of vacations lately? o_o

Whoa, I forgot to update the comic! This heat is melting my braaaaaain.

I am on vacation for the next 2 weeks, so sadly there will be no updates then. Also, just as sadly, I will NOT be attending Anthrocon this year. It would pretty hard to make that drive, considering I’ll be in California when it happens!
...I really should have mentioned this sooner here. :P But, yeah, I'll be seeing an

Wow, so... this is late. Really late. I can explain!
As you all may or may not know, yesterday was AWESOME. Not. I had that gallstone attack and it ended up completely throwing off my groove. Despite this attack, I went to work and stayed the whole day, and after I left I thought I utterly and completely forgot the flash drive containing this week's comic. I thought for sure I was going to have to drive back into work and retrieve it. But as I was getting dressed this morning, what did I find but... my flash drive! I am an idiot. That's the moral of the story.
I also re-upped the last few pages. I was having issues with those scans, particularly the last one. XP
Inner Space
I don't know. She's just really good at acting retarded around me. I can't NOT take pictures of her!

Pippin with a staranus anise. I'm kind of surprised she likes these things.

Yeeeeeah everyone's been screaming about that new My Little Pony show, so I've started watching it. I'm only up to the 10th episode NO SPOILERS!

Bwahahahahaha!
What have I wrought?
Bwahahahahaha!
What have I wrought?
One of the advantages of this little camera is I have a camera sitting right by my desk now and I can take photographic evidence of all the ways that Pippin is a tard. Woohoo! And I can show you all the ways she whores for attention when I'm trying to get work done!

If I tilt my mouse hand backwards, she almost always runs up next to it and leans against it. AWWWWWW.
( See more tardness!Collapse )
