But who's counting ...

ImageIt's bee a doozy of a week.

There are 4 more school days till Thanksgiving Break. I am just as excited (if not more) than my students.

Things to look forward to:
  • Visiting the Stewart Clan
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Sleep
  • No lesson planning, IEP paperwork, progress reports
  • Pie
  • BYU vs. U of U football game (well I hope I can look forward to it)
Who knows, maybe I'll even blog a few of my funny student stories ... I make no guarantees though.

It's been awhile

Yeah, it's been a little while since I've blogged. Just since the beginning of August. Not too shabby.

Here's what I've been up to since then ...
  • I graduated from BYU. Let me say that one more ... I graduated from the BYU. Saying (or typing) that just doesn't get old. It was awesome getting to share the experience with my brother. Many lunches were eaten together to keep ourselves feeling sane.

I'm just so excited to be done. I'm suppose to be giving a thumbs-up with the famous large White family thumb I've been blessed with. Instead I just look like I'm being a hitchhiker.
Hitchhiking my way out of BYU

  • I get to spend A LOT of time in this classroom. By the way, this is my own classroom! I love my job. It is incredibly time consuming, challenging, and causes mucho stress BUT I love it. I adore my kids and always have great stories when I get home. If you ask me, I'm more than happy to share.

  • Got to hang out with these funny kids. Karen, Justin, and the boys came down for their fall break and we had lots of fun. I can't explain what they are doing in this picture, but I think it's funny.

  • I got to have my first fall break since I was in high school. It's lovely. Big fan! During fall break I did lots of relaxing and hung out at the zoo with these monkeys.

ImageIs this not the sweetest picture?

Other things that have happened:
  • Said farewell to Dave, Karlie, and Jax as they moved to Nova Scotia for Dental School. Boo on the distance, but I'm excited for them.
  • Had my birthday
  • Moved into a new place with Logan (pictures of the new place will be posted soon-ish for those that are curious)

Love when blogger decides to format my posts the way they want. Love it.

(Maybe they do it because I don't post often so they figure I don't know how to do it)

Cue the music please

It's no secret how much I love High School Musical and basically everything that goes with it. I don't deny that I often wonder what it would have been like to go to East High and be a Wildcat ... sigh.

Well, I may still need to dream about what it would have been like to be classmates with Troy, but as for being a Wildcat, that will be a reality for me starting August 24th.

How?

Well folks, you are looking at the new resource teacher for ...

Westridge Elementary

also known as the WILDCATS!

(How cool is that? I'll tell you how cool ... SO cool)

After a roller coaster of a year, I am finally making what feels like a move forward. I am super excited about this new job and what it has in store for me. That doesn't go without saying that I'm also super nervous about it too. Maybe I'll sing a song called "Nervous, but Excited" (SNL's HSM 4 anyone?)

Too funny

This video is hilarious ... well, at least I thought so. Almost makes me want a minivan, but maybe I should wait till children arrive on my scene.

If you can't do the math then get out of the equation ...

So it's March ... the end of March. Yikes.

I did a little math on my blogging percentage. It isn't pretty.

We are 84 days into this beautifully solid number of a year 2010. That kind of blows my mind.

I have posted twice in those 84 days.

That give me a 2.3% for blog posting. [if my math is wrong ... don't correct me. let me think I've done it right]

That my friends is a solid failing grade in blogging. Thankfully grades aren't handed out in blogging.

ImageThis comic is for Logan since she recently found a few plagiarized items in her grading of book reports.

p.s. Name the song and artist that the title comes from! No shame for knowing.

Smell the flowers

BYU's best but hidden class is called Plant and Wildlife Science 112 ... aka FLORAL DESIGN! Yes my blog reading friends I get school credit to learn about flowers and then create beautiful arrangements.

So to show off just how cool the things I'm learning are, I've taken pictures.

This is my bud vase from straight on.
Image
Isn't that the coolest gerbera daisy eva?

This is it looking down cause I love it.
Image
[Those yellow and green button mums ... yeah a favorite of mine]

So this design isn't one I did in class. I did it at home with flowers I bought. Remember that terribly tragic story about the family from Layton that had two of their daughters die from inhalation of the material that was put down in their yard? Well, my dad is very close with the grandpa of those sweet girls. Absolutely heartbreaking. Well, I made this next flower arrangement for my dad's friend and the family.

Here it is straight on.
My kitchen makes a great studio, don't you think?
Image

And here it is from above so you get a good viewing of the beautiful lilies.
Image
It was a neat experience to be able to make this for someone and have it hopefully mean something.

I would post pictures of my oriental design I just did, but well my pictures didn't turn out so I might do it later or I might not. Just know it's neat-o.

wittle wetters

Little letters inspired by Rockstar Diaries

Dear Laffy Taffy,
Why is it that your lame jokes make me laugh [
almost] every time?
For instance ... What kind of shorts do clouds where? Thunderwear. It's even lamer now that I've typed it.

Dear senioritis,
You are a real force of nature that I need to deal with. I really would like to do well on this test, but you are making it very difficult to focus.

Dear Jillian,
You're mean. Good, but mean. I couldn't walk up stairs normally after working out with you.

Dear Mare,
Stop being lame and grumbling about Jillian. Go do her video again.

Dear AudryPiePants,
I can't handle your cuteness. Stop growing up at such a rapid pace. PLEASE.

Dear fellow BYU students,
Stop encouraging the weirdo in tight white pants dancing in the middle of campus. It isn't normal behavior.

Dear little letters,
You're fun to write.

Proof that she's just too stinkin' cute.
