A new month :P
Feb. 2nd, 2011 06:57 amI just bought Acronis True Image 2011 with the addon pack. Yeah, I know...buying software LOL. But I've been doing it more often due to tons of viruses in things I usually download. Hopefully the software is going to work - there are a lot of horror stories all over the net, and I guess people either really love it or hate it. They do have a 30 day money-back policy. So we'll see.
I also finally bought my Star Trek mugs - one did arrive with a defect. What's my luck with drinking vessels lately!? But they are sending me a new one. Now the defective one is a holder for my mug cleaning sponge.
I guess two of my drives are having problems in my computer, so I am backing up everything. Then I'm going to reinstall Windows 7 (wooo fun)...one drive is saying it is having a mechanical error, the other is some spin up problem. Who knows, but all I know right now is that I have no backup! So it's important.
I haven't been on Runes of Magic in a while now. They implemented a new "safety measure". Basically, you can buy diamonds to spend on the game shop. When you use these in game, you have to enter a secondary password. Most people only do this occasionally when there are sales, so you rarely type the pass. Well, now, to login you have to enter your password, then your secondary password....every single time you login. WHAT? I haven't logged in yet. At least with the item shop, a keylogger program would have to sift through tons of logs of hours of gaming to find your password. Claims that searching for the trigger (normally the / character) are false because you can easily open the item shop by using a different key that you choose. So.....now, keyloggers can grab your password every single time you login. This game isn't like WoW - you get kicked out of the game pretty much every time you enter your house, or transport somewhere, or go into something important. It's unstable! And there's a nightly fight called Siege Wars - guess what? You get kicked off game repeatedly in that hour of fighting. So now I have to enter a complex 1st and 2nd pass!? Ugh. So yeah, I haven't been on. :(
