VTR 350: The 1kw beacon here in McGrath appears to have the transmitter on but the beeping dits haven’t been heard since Friday or so … no idea what’s wrong and not sure who to tell.

SAY 431kHz faulty
This Stornoway beacon is normally  one of the stronger daytime signals audible in North West Scotland but today all that can be heard is a weak continuous carrier with no modulation.
The carrier is unlikely to be anything else than Stornoway so it seems  there is a technical outage.
Just for comparison SAY is usually much stronger than 316 BRR (-76dbm); 401 BBA (-63dBm) and 337 MY (-80dBm) but today its weak carrier is down at ~-92dBm.

Reactivated at 1047utc with a -51dBm signal

Australia

Australian LW closures.
Found this on the Airservices website
In accordance with the CASA mandate, Airservices is redesigning some of its landing approaches at every airport around the country to ensure we continue to have the safest and most efficient air traffic management system possible, meeting the expectations of airspace users and the travelling public into the future.
As part of this transition, nearly half of the 400 ground-based navigation aids will be decommissioned over time with the remaining to operate as a back-up network to the satellite navigation system

Briefly trolling through the LW band, I noticed some of the ATIS (Airport Terminal Information Service) radio signals are gone

Offshore

NDB 1066
If anyone’s hearing “SU” on 1066 kHz it’s likely Putin’s carrier out at sea. Very strong signal at the KONG HQ, not far from the Northern Fleet playground. They tend to change frequency a lot, typically always on MW.

Klingenfuss Guide to Utility Stations (21st Ed.) lists Tianjin (XSV) on 486, 4209.5, 4212.5, 8417.5, 8419, 12581.5, 12583 KHz. No times given but this would imply more or less regular broadasts from this coastal site.

NDB

BBA Benbecula is a semi local signal for the BDMR and there are very few of these!
I noted it off air leaving 401kHz free for other signals. Nothing too exotic heard but RBU Norway and COA Spain both heard simultaneously.

A bit of research reveals:
Benbecula: Locator unserviceable

Hi all,
The 2024 editions of my NDB handbooks and CDs are available now. As always I’ve incorporated the latest changes and monitoring results.

The new GNDBH contains the details of more than 17400 NDBs worldwide. It is the perfect listening companion for radio listeners who use the extensive and ever-growing network of WebSDRs.

The updated ENDBH features the data of more than 8400 NDBs, and the new NANDBH more than 5900 NDBs. Please find all relevant details at the following URL:
