I weep for humanity
I'm not bashing romance novels, I own quite a few. But I guarantee you none of them are written like this. It makes The Very Virile Viking look like Pride and Prejudice.

Hmph, I keep finding out about concerts too late, or they happen at exactly the wrong time. Phoenix and Wilco and Okkervil River are all sold out in LA, and Wilco and Okkervil River together (!!!) are playing in the Bay area, but a week after I go back to LA.

But I do have tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, and the New Pornographers at the Hollywood bowl. Can we say Best Concert Ever? I'm going with my best friend, and it's right on my birthday. And the National is playing in LA at the end of August, and I did find out early enough to get a ticket \o/

*sticks tongue out at google*
Meanies don't think I'm qualified and didn't offer me an inteview. *grumblegrumble* Oh well.

Spring quarter! And after the last overly-busy craptastic quarter, I'm taking it easy now. I'm done with my major, and only have one class left that is required to graduate.

And I'm taking Advanced Wine Tasting. For a whole unit. I'm excited.

Ahhh sorority rush starts tonight there is my week of trying to non-shallowly judge girls' personalities in 5 minutes!

*&%$

Working on a group presentation, the final presentation of this quarter. The problem is my partner and I have fundamentally different ideas of what should be in this presentation (and it goes without saying that I am right and he is wrong!)

It's fine to say "hey, maybe we should move this here, or do this, or change what it looks like",

BUT

This presentation is TOMORROW MORNING. We have to leave at 9:15. It's 1:15 right now. I normally go to sleep now. I need more than 4 hours of sleep, can we please just finish this fucking thing and go? Stop making the slides look pretty and let's practice speaking.

And this is a two quarter class/project, so I have to deal with these two for all of next quarter too. This is not going to be fun.

The only quote suitable for the situation: "That word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Holy confusion!
I had heard that there was a plan to turn Terry Goodkind's books into a tv show, but I didn't know it was already halfway into first season *blink*

Disclaimer: I know the later Goodkind books suck. Believe me I know. But the first was fantastic, and still one of my favorite books.

Anyways, the show is on Hulu. Only 10 minutes into it, and I am...not excited. First, it's on ABC. Hell, the books practically hold the monopoly on rape/torture scenes and various adult themes. While I don't need to see them in graphic detail there is no way ABC can come close to the R rating needed.

It's also called Legends of the Seeker instead of Wizard's First Rule, to purposely differentiate it from the books. So while I think it's a stupid name, I guess it serves it's purpose.

Now to watch all the episodes despite my complaining! (Or perhaps..to enhance my complaining? :o After all, it's silly to criticize something without actually watching it! Except in the case of Twilight. Then it's perfectly valid.)

JUST FOR BIN
So Bin says I never post except about school stuff, which sounds evil and intimidating so she doesn't reply. FINE I'LL WRITE ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE BIN.

(Ok, brief mention of school. I'm done with finals! Hurrah!)

Over Thanksgiving break, I was in New York and met up with Bin. We were cool and formed a short person brigade of awesomeness. And went in this odd store that sells random Japanese crap. Such as a unicornasaurus. Maybe if you're lucky I'll post a picture of it.

I shall now post about the extremely weird dream I had last night! Although it's a bit fuzzy now trying to recall what happened.

I was Harry Potter, and fighting Voldemort. Except I was sortof Harry, and sortof myself. This is not the first time I have had a me/Harry fighting Voldemort dream :p

In this particular one, me/he was captured by Voldemort. I remember that I kept making smart ass remarks to Voldemort, so he kept beating me up :p Except somehow it didn't actually hurt, so I just pretended it did to make him think something was happening.

At some point Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy showed up with a portkey to bring me back. Except they didn't work, because they were out of oil! Somehow we ended up in a Japanese supermarket, looking for oil (or butter, we decided it was oily enough) to make the portkeys work. The whole time I kept hiding in aisles, or behind cabinets so Voldemort wouldn't see me.

I think there was more, but I don't really remember it now. Whenever I'm in a dream where I'm a character that should have magical powers (Harry Potter, Aes Sedai, Jedi) for some reason my powers never work (definitely had a dream where I was in a lazer tag arcade, and saw Liandrin & black ajah posse, so I tried to still her, but my channeling wouldn't work). It's quite sad, since you'd think in a dream I should be able to have magical powers. But alas I always try and nothing ever happens. :woe

*blink blink*

I...I don't know what to say.

My roommate, who previously has only listened to extremely loud rap music, on the radio, and does not change the channel when the commercials come on, is listening to CLASSICAL music. Classical music folks, when I thought I was going to kill something if I had to heard "hey girl shake dat booty wit me" songs one more time.

This is good!

Today I made stupid mistakes. At least they won't happen again, since I don't like feeling stupid.

On another note, I auditioned for Swing Time, a swing performing dance group on campus! I auditioned last year, but they only took one girl so I didn't get in. I think I did really well at auditions this year, and I know they are taking lots of girls since many graduated. I should find out tomorrow via email that I did not make it, or via rollouts that I did.

Note: Rollouts are somewhat of a tradition on my campus, when you get into any sort of activity/play/sorority/group etc, where the current members bang on your door super early in the morning (7ish) to drag you out of bed to celebrate over breakfast.

The only downside to getting in would be dropping the wine tasting class I'm signed up for, since rehearsal is at the exact same time as the class. Rather annoying, since the class size is super limited, and I camped out on the quad for 12 hours to get in. Oh well, awesome swing dancing (with aerials!) beats wine, and if I'm super persistent I can get into wine tasting next quarter.

Back at school, looking forward to starting senior year. Since we had an odd number of us draw into the house, I volunteered to take the random roommate. Now, I have a two room double, and I have the inner room so all I have to do is close the door between us and it is like a single. She seems ok, but:

1) She plays really horrible music loudly. Loud rap music. From the radio, and doesn't change the channel when the commercials are on (like now). Ick.

2) The other night she had some Seriously Loud Sex. Oh well, I'd prefer this to the music since the sex can only last for so long, whereas the music can go on for hours.

I think I've figured out my schedule, taking some awesome classes. Still decided whether or not to take Intro to Modern Physics. I know it will be hard and I probably won't have time, but then I think of "But but but special relativity! And quantum physics!" and I really want to take the class. Maybe I will audit it.

Taking Hebrew which is fun, it's all slowly coming back to me since I took it for 5 years in elementary school.

Also Beginning Voice! Singing, it's not just for the shower anymore!

My brain is melting
Currently I'm working on a Company overview for a report. I wanted to say that a company was previously known under another name. I had the sentence:

"SPM was formally known as SPM Flow Control"

Formally. Wait. That doesn't mean what I think it means. But I *knew* there was a word that meant "in the past" which sounded exactly like formally.

It took a Microsoft Word thesaurus lookup of "previously" to come up with the word formerly.

In which there is complaining about phone companies!

I was thinking about switching to an iPhone. Yes, yes, I'm giving in, being a sheep, etc.

But, it would cost me $175 to cancel my current ATT contract. How stupid can you be ATT? If I got an iPhone you would be getting so much more money out of me, since clearly that phone plan costs a lot more plus the cost of the phone. But do you really think I want to pay an extra 175 for the priveledge? Mindbogglingly moronic on their part, clearly working against their best interest.

Oh man, a restaurant near work is offering as a lunch special: a GUACAMOLE BACON BURGER. I feel like that is too intense to exist. Could this be the start of a nefarious plan for world domniation? I'm quite tempted to try it, except I had a burger two days ago.

A couple of weekends ago, I was shopping and trying on a pair of shoes. The woman sitting near me was trying some on as well (after all, that is what you do in a shoe department!)

Then I noticed her foot had 6 toes! And they all looked pretty normal. Except there were 6. Then she walked around a bit to test the shoes, and her other foot has 6 toes as well! I debated whether or not I wished I had 6 toes--it would make a good piece of information for the "get to know you by telling us something interesting about yourself" game, but it might make finding shoes difficult.

However I decided 6 fingers would be ok, as long as they were all functional. I could be better at guitar, and I live on the West Coast so gloves are rarely necessary.

How do you type?
I discovered that when typing, I only use my right thumb to hit spacebare, and after a while my left thumb starts to hurt because I have it hover in the air, since it does nothing. If I make an effort to put it on the spacebar, I still only use the right thumb to press it. Trying to use my left or both thumbs makes my typing very slow and inefficient.
12:55 pm
I do actually exist, if you were wondering!

Anyways, I'm at work, and felt the overwhelming need to post this:

I went to starbucks, and the woman behind me ordered a half-caf-soy-iced-vanilla-latte. This is probably symbolic about the downfall of American society, but I'm more curious about what the heck that drink actually is! So many adjectives! Does half-caf mean your drink is half caffeinated coffee and half decaf? This is quite mysterious to me.

I also got a maple nut scone while at starbucks, and it is deliciousness. Brown sugar-y and nutty and overall full of awesome.

Maybe I'll talk more about work when I get home, but it's more likely I'll forget.
