Dear Addie,
Happy 4th birthday my dear, sweet, spunky girl! The last four years have gone by so fast. You have blessed our lives in so many ways and I am so grateful to my Father in Heaven for sending you to us! I couldn't imagine a life without your spunkiness and your cute freckles. I'm so lucky I get to call you mine.
I love you so much my sweet Addie Bear!
Love,
Mom

A very long update
We have had so much going on lately that I haven't had a moment, or the heart, to post. First of all, we sold our house in American Fork in May and moved to an apartment in Lindon until we figured out what we were going to do or where we were going to go. We ended up building a new home in Eagle Mountain and moved in just 2 days before Christmas! It's been so cold and snowy that I haven't even taken a picture of the house yet so I can't post one for you but I'll try to later.
In October Addie started having seizures. It was, and quite frankly still is, the most terrifying thing we've ever had to deal with. I went in to check on Addie one night after Mike and I returned from a date and she was in the middle of one. I was terrified! We didn't know what was happening. She doesn't have grand mal seizures (basically she doesn't convulse when she has them) so we really had no idea what was going on. We decided to wait it out through the night and see if she had any more before we took her to the emergency room. That night she had 15 seizures. We rushed her to the ER and were told that it was in fact seizures and that she was having them because of an infection in her sinuses and her ears. They gave us an anti-biotic and sent us home. That night she had just as many seuizures. We were only seeing them at night and the doctors had told us that we might see them for a week or so until the infection was gone so we just tried to wait it out. Eventually they presented themselves during the day as well and Mike and I had a very strong feeling that they weren't happening because of an infection. We ended up taking her to Primary Children's one night to hopefully get some more answers. They weren't that helpful the first time we went but they did get us in to get an EEG right away. So on Halloween Addie had her first EEG. During the EEG the tech called a neurologist at Primary Children's and had them watch it live. Once they saw what was going on they sent us back to Primary Children's right away. Poor girl spent almost her entire Halloween in the ER. They diagnosed her with Epilepsy and put her on an anti-seizure medication and then sent us home with a follow up appointment for 2 months later. It was so frustrating! Two months! Are you kidding me? By then she was having between 20-24 seizures in a 24 hour period. I swear that doctors don't have a heart. Anyway, the medication they gave her wasn't working so they just added another one. The one they added can cause liver failer so she had to get her blood checked every two weeks. Finally after a lot of me calling and bugging the doctors, two more visits to the ER and me throwing fits (yes, I actually cried my eyes out and threw a fit while at Primary Children's neurology department. Why wouldn't they listen to me? I know my child! Something is wrong! The medication isn't working!!) they agreeded that she needed to have a video EEG. In December we spent two nights at Primary Children's so they could monitor her seizures and figure out what part of her brain they were coming from. It was the hardest 48 hours of my poor Addie Bear's life. Basically they told us she has Focal Front Epilepsy and her seizures are presenting themselves at absent seizures but they are actually partial complex. They added a 3rd medication. Our hearts were breaking. I can't even beging to tell you how drugged up these medications make her. It's horrible to watch. For the first few weeks she didn't even want to play, at all. Not at all! She went from a very happy, active three year old to a very tired, cranky and passive three year old. I cried every day. Several times a day. All day. Mike and I were staying up through the night so we could monitor her. I was 8 months pregnant. We were exhausted. Nothing can prepare you for something like this. I know how blessed we are that we still have our Addie Bear but it's so difficult to watch the change in her. She wasn't what she once was. She wasn't the same. The good news is, her body has somewhat adjusted to the medications and she's becoming her old self again. Also, we haven't seen a seizure in one month now! Hooray!! The doctors say that she has a 70% chance of outgrowing them and we pray every single day that she does. Until then, we watch her closely with an ever present fear lingering in our hearts and minds. I do hope to be able to sleep through the night again one day. We are counting our blessings and praying for improvement.
Another thing that happened....We welcomed Henley Rae Hover into the family on January 3, 2014. What a blessing and a miracle! Henley was born just at the right time. She has brought the sweet spirit back into our home and has really been a great distraction for all of us. We love her so much and feel so very blessed to have her in our family!

I'm going to try harder to update this blog. Not that anyone reads it, really.

Mylie and Addie are going to be big sisters!
We're so excited to welcome a new baby into our family! Baby #3 will be arriving at the beginning of January 2014. Seems so far away but I know it will sneak up on us!

The happenings of my people (a post I meant to post 3 months ago)
Long time no blog, huh? I swear I'm going to try to be better. Since it's been so long I'm just going to post a couple of pictures of what has happened over the last few months. Sorry about the terrible pictures. I got an iPhone and have not used my actual camera since then. Lesson learned. From now on I'll be using the REAL camera. Also, they are a little out of order. Oh well though.
Addie turned two in October. I can't believe she's already two (two and a half now). She's been potty trained since shortly after her birthday and is almost totally independent. We're so out of the baby phase of life, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to go back.
Mylie turned 5 in November. She decided she wanted a pirate themed party. We did our best to make it a fun pirate day for her. She had a party with all her cousins and then we went to a movie with some friends that night. She's getting so big! I wish I could just freeze the time. She's already reading and has her first loose tooth. She's getting really excited to start kindergarten later this year. Mom wants to cry about that.
Mylie had a Christmas program for her preschool again this year and my dad got to meet this dude. As I'm posting this I for the life of me can't remember his name....George something. Anyway, he's on the TV show called Jungle Gold. He and a buddy of his go to Africa and hunt for gold, I guess. Anyway, it just so happens that Mylie is best buddies with his daughter. My dad was super pumped to meet the guy and was totally embarrassed when I asked George if I could take a picture of them together.
Addie was a zebra for Halloween and I have to say, she was a mighty cute one!
Mylie was a snow princess. She couldn't decide if she wanted to be a fairy or a princess this year so she was a fairy by day and a snow princess by night. She looked beautiful!

Wow! It's been a while....
It's been a very long while since I posted last. Time slipped away from me I guess. Lots has happened but since I'm so far behind, I'll just do a brief recap:
Mylie turned 5 in November. She's a blast to be around! She lost her first tooth about a month ago and has another one that's loose. She graduated from Preschool this month and she's excited to start kindergarten in August but most of all, she's excited to go to Seven Peaks this summer.

Addie turned 2 in October. She was such an easy baby that I thought she was just going to be a breeze as a toddler. I was mistaken. She's adorable and therefore, she gets away with everything! She'll be 3 in a few short months and I can't recall where the time has gone. She's almost not even a toddler anymore. She loves everything that Mylie does and she can't wait to start dance in the fall.
Mike and I sold our house last month! We've lived in that home for 7 and a half years! It sold a lot quicker than we anticipated so we're currently renting an apartment in Lindon and looking for another house. We've been so busy that we actually haven't had much time to look but we're hoping we'll find something within the next 6 months or so. Wish us luck! I'd post a picture of our house but I don't have one on the computer and I'm far to lazy to download the one I have on my phone.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up on the blog this summer. We don't have any fun plans but you never know what might come up!
