Hi everyone!

I’m quite happy because yesterday the prompts for middle grade March were announced. For those who don’t know about that, middle grade March is just a challenge where you read middle grade books in the month of March. Usually there are 5 prompts to help choose books to read and there’s also a group read. But really you can just read any middle grade books you want.

The prompts for this year:
1. Read a book with a person’s name in the title
2. Read a book with books on the cover
3. Read a book that features siblings
4. Read a historical fiction
5. Read a book by aBIPOC author

I am pretty happy with this years prompts. Historical fiction is a favorite genre of mine and I also enjoy stories about familial relationships so I think I will like the sibling prompt as well. I’m going to switch the books on the cover prompt to book in the title though. Or perhaps I’ll skip that one entirely and maybe check out prompts from previous years since this is my first year participating. Or maybe I’ll come up with my own prompt who knows lol.
I think it’ll be fun deciding what middle grade books I want to read next month. I think the middle grade March YouTube channel will post a video recommending books for each of the prompts. Plus I might find recommendations elsewhere and I can look through my “to-read” pile.

The group read this year is “Max in the House of Spies” by Adam Gidwitz. I’m not sure if I’ll read it or not. It sounds like something I might enjoy but I’m not currently in the mood for. I guess we will see if my mind changes by March.

Hope y’all are doing good! Oh yeah and I hope everyone who celebrated had a good Valentine’s Day.

Hi y’all! This is kind of late but I’m finally getting around to sharing my week 2 list for the stuff I love challenge. This weeks theme is to share series that you love.

1. Bob’s Burgers
Definitely my favorite show. I remember watching it sometimes when I was younger and I finally watched the whole show during quarantine. It took me a long time to finish it and so I guess I got attached to the characters and now I just have the show on in the background. I also love this show because it reminds me of my stepdad who loved it and my other family members enjoy it as well. I don’t think a day goes by without the show being quoted or referenced in some way.

2. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
I always have a great time reading these. I love the friendships in these books, the humor, and the interesting adventures. Plus it kind of started my interest in Greek mythology lol. And it also reminds me of role playing camp halfblood with some friends online back then.

3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
I was obsessed with this trilogy years ago. I think these were some of the books that really got me interested in reading because I didn’t used to be a big reader. These were also a super emotional read for me, I cried or got angry so many times throughout. I’m hoping to reread the series because I want to see if there’s anything I didn’t understand or pick up on when I read it before because I was quite young.

4. Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
Okay I actually haven’t even finished the series lol. But I do really like these books especially the first two. I like L. M. Montgomery’s writing and I like reading about all the crazy things Anne gets herself into.

5. Abbott Elementary
This is a new show that I started watching with my sisters. I really enjoy all of the main characters and their personalities. And it’s nice to have something I can enjoy with my sisters.

6. Ever After High
I’m not sure why I got so attached to this especially because it was short lived and I only became a fan a few years ago. But well I keep rewatching the series and I just discovered there are books. I like all of the different unique characters and it’s interesting seeing how everyone thinks about their destiny. Plus this is a combination of two of my favorite things, dolls and fairytales. Though sadly I don’t actually own any dolls because I became a fan too late.

7. Harry Potter by R. J. Rowling
I was kind of hesitant to include this one because I have no respect for the author whatsoever. However these books did have a big impact on me and my love of reading as a kid. I was a super huge potterhead at one point and it was like all I would ever talk about. I even wrote fan fiction for a writing assignment and I also role played Hogwarts with the same online friends and we started a HP book club. So yeah those times were super fun.

8. Ru Paul’s Drag Race
Not a huge reality TV fan but I loved this show as a preteen and young teenager. Sadly I haven’t been able to keep up with it the past few years but I’d like to. I have a lot of good memories staying up until midnight watching with my mom. And I was kind of obsessed with being a drag queen for a while lol.

9. American Girl
Another combo of two things I love, dolls and historical fiction. Once again I don’t actually have a doll due to the price. But I loved a lot of the books as a kid and probably another thing that got me interested in history. Plus I appreciated the length of the books as I was a struggling braille reader and the books were pretty short while still being interesting.

10. Glee
I’m actually in the middle of watching this right now and I’m enjoying it so I wanted to include it. I really enjoy the characters even though they are often very flawed and of course I love the songs.

Well this was fun! I hope everyone is doing well.

Hey y’all, it’s been a little bit since I’ve written here. It’s mostly because I can’t really find much to talk about.

I did go out the other day which means I’ve been pretty tired as well. I really don’t leave my house much so when I do I tend to be tired for at least the next few days afterward. The outing was fun though. I just went to a coffee shop and a few stores with my sisters. It was slightly chaotic because there was all this ice on the ground since we’ve been getting so much snow and so I had to try really hard not to slip on it which is pretty hard when you’re blind and you have balance issues. Plus it was crowded with people so I had that obstacle as well. I also had fun looking at teeny tiny furniture at a craft store. I’m assuming it’s for a dollhouse or something like that. But yeah I do really like miniature versions of things haha.

Another reason for why I’m tired is that I can’t seem to get decent sleep. Although I’ve had problems with sleeping since the moment I was born basically. There are times when it isn’t so bad but right now it really isn’t great. So I’ve kind of just been laying around being lazy unfortunately.

This was pretty short but I want to be consistent with writing so I thought I’d come on here and update. Hopefully I will be more energized soon and come up with things to talk about. I still need to do week 2 of the things I love challenge, so maybe I’ll write that tomorrow.

I hope you are all well and I will see you soon!

Hi guys, I’ve decided to participate in a challenge started by Dreamersdare. I’m sorry I don’t know how to add links to entries yet.
Basically the challenge is to share a top 10 list of things you love every week of February.

This weeks theme is to share your favorite standalone pieces of media. This list is in no particular order as I kind of just wrote down things as I thought of them haha.

1. Annie (1982)
I was never that interested in television, especially when I was a kid. But I was constantly rewatching this movie over and over again and it was literally the only movie I would agree to watch. I still love this movie today.

2. Number The Stars by Lois Lowry
I read this book when I was maybe about 10 or 11 and I think it was one of the things that started my love of historical fiction and my interest in history.

3. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I really enjoyed reading this for the first time and I plan on rereading it someday. I really like Scout as the narrator of the story as it’s interesting reading about what she thinks of the situations going on in her life and her community. I like how her perspective adds some humor to it as well.

4. Gender Queer by Maya Kobabe
As a nonbinary person myself, this aspect of my identity seems to be something I struggle to accept for multiple reasons. This was the first book I ever read about the topic and it was just nice being able to relate to some of the author’s experiences.

5. Juno (2007)
This is my other favorite movie. I’m not even sure why I like it so much other than I just do. Plus I really enjoyed the sound track and it introduced me to Kimya Dawson’s music which I really like.

6. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This book did make me cry but I really liked it. This was also my first John Green book and now I’m a fan of his and Hank Green as well.

7. Wonder by R. J. Palacio
Another book that meant a lot to little me. I could relate to a lot of Auggie’s experiences due to my disability. But I also really liked how the story was told from multiple perspectives. I think I remember Jack Will’s being my favorite. I liked how the story discussed some serious topics but it was also humorous at times so I cried and laughed multiple times throughout reading.

8. Shop: a Pop Opera by Jack Stauber
Lol this one might seem a bit random or strange. I’m not sure why YouTube decided to recommend I watch a video about a man trying to do his grocery shopping but keeps having existential crises in which he breaks out into song every time and I’m not sure why I enjoyed it so much that I came back to rewatch it multiple times. When I showed this to my sighted family members they seemed to be a bit freaked out, I guess the visuals are scary looking. But this video was comforting to me in a way and I like the songs. I wonder what I would think if I could see, but I think I’d still like this video.

9. Mean Girls (2004)
This is my favorite movie to watch when I need to have a good laugh. Plus this movie is so quotable and I reference it often haha.

10. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This is another one that made me cry especially since some heavy topics were covered. But I did really enjoy it and I like how it was sort of written in diary entries because I like that kind of writing.

This was actually kind of hard. I realized I tend to enjoy a lot of things that are apart of a series.

It’s February

I’m glad that it’s February. I don’t really like January all that much, and I swear it feels like it lasts about 31 years rather than 31 days lol. I’m hoping it’ll start to get warmer. At least it seems like it will get above freezing temperatures this week.

Last night I stayed up until 2:00 in the morning binge reading. I was reading “Because You’ll Never Meet Me” by Leah Thomas. It’s about these two boys who basically live as recluses from society due to their medical conditions. They start writing letters to one another and eventually become best friends. The story is told through their letters to each other. And more of their passed is revealed as you read on.
I’m not finished with the book yet. But it’s pretty interesting so far. I enjoy seeing their friendship develop and I’m curious to know more about each boys history. It kind of makes me wish I had a pen pal. I know I could basically message almost anyone from around the world, which is really cool. But I don’t know I guess it just seems like it’d be nice writing letters to someone and looking forward to receiving one. I think I’ve liked the idea of a pen pal ever since I was little. Though it isn’t super easy when you read and write in a code that not very many people understand . Although now that I think of it I do have some vague memories from my childhood of writing to someone I met at some program for blind children. But I think we only wrote to each other a few times.

Hmm, since it’s the month of Valentine’s Day I wonder if I should try reading some romance? For some reason romance tends to frustrate or annoy me a lot. Especially tropes like enemies to lovers or love triangles. But it would be nice to find some romance that I enjoy so perhaps I’ll try looking.

Well I hope everyone has a good day and a good February! See you soon.

Yay! Thanks to another user here I was able to customize Dreamwidth to be more friendly for my eyes. So I’m pretty happy about that. I might make some more adjustments overtime but I’m glad I at least have my dark background.

Anyways I’ve come to talk about an interesting conversation that I had with my mom about a week ago. Basically we’d just woken up and we were talking about our dreams. I told her that in my dream I was a guy called Mateo and I was driving somewhere with my friend Greg (not an actual friend of mine in real life) and another unnamed friend. My mom was super surprised that I was someone else in my dream. I told her that this happens somewhat often for me and she was even more surprised. I guess she is always herself in her dreams.
I thought this was pretty interesting, and now I’m curious about whether anyone else experiences this. So feel free to tell me if you are reading this. We asked my sisters later on that day and my younger sister said she has a similar experience to me.

I hope you are having a good day, Bye for now.

I'm slowly getting more familiar with Dreamwidth. I like looking at the latest things page. I do like how it doesn't take much scrolling to reach the end of the page. Unlike most other platforms where you could just scroll on and on. I'm pretty sure that is called "doom scrolling". I think I have that problem with Reddit in particular. I think I need to get off of there lol.
I also think it's super cool how people can customize their journals to express themselves and their personality. I'm not really sure if I'd like to customize mine any. Despite being legally blind, I do have a bit of usable vision, so I do have some preferences. In particular I'd prefer if my journal had a darker background mainly due to my light sensitivity this white color bothers me a bit. But there are so many style options and looking through them is overwhelming. Not to mention it seems that every style has its own layout and I chose this style because I like how everything is set up and I can locate all of the buttons easily. That's one thing I do find a bit frustrating is how every journal I click on I have to learn how to navigate and find where everything is which isn’t super easy when I can’t see the buttons. Like if I find a journal that seems interesting it can take me a very long time to locate the button to subscribe to it 😂.

Now I am going to talk about music.
I’m generally not a type of person who makes New Year’s resolutions. Mostly because January is kind of a shitty month and it doesn’t feel like the best time to decide to get my life together lol. Honestly I wish the new year could start at a different time. Which I’m pretty sure in the early version of the Roman calendar it actually started in March until January and February were added later. Spring feels like a better time to start the year.
Okay I was supposed to be talking about music not complaining about the calendar.
Anyways this year I’ve decided to challenge myself to listen to one new album every week just because it seems fun and I like discovering new music. Yesterday I listened to “Girl With No Face” by Allie X. I’d never heard of this artist before until I heard someone on another platform talking about her and they mentioned that they enjoy this album in particular. I decided to give it a listen and wow I really enjoyed it! One of my most favorite feelings in the entire world is when I’m enjoying a song so much that I can feel it throughout my body. I’m not sure if that even makes sense. It feels like I want to dance, cry, spin, and do weird movements with my hands all at the same time lmao. I hope that does not sound too weird. And then of course I listen to the song over and over and over again. That is how I felt while listening to this album. I really like the singers voice, lyrics, and all of the interesting sounds throughout the album. So yeah I will need to listen to more of her music.

In case you are curious, the other albums I’ve listened to so far this year are:
The Fame by Lady Gaga
Hidden Vagenda by Kimya Dawson
Running With Scissors by Cavetown

Well I think that’s all I have to say. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello there! I’ve decided to start one of these journals. I apologize if my profile doesn’t look the best. This site is pretty overwhelming for me to figure out, and I’m also blind which complicates things.
Anyways my name is Milo. I don’t know what I will talk about on here. My life isn’t too interesting at the moment. I have pretty much been living in isolation for years at this point. Though I do live with family. And I have some people I talk to online occasionally. But I mainly spend my days reading/listening to books, listening to music, writing in my personal journal, watch videos, and trying to study. So perhaps I will discuss some of that stuff.
I could also just talk about my thoughts and stuff. Unfortunately I don’t think they will be very “brailliant”. I was just wanting to make a braille pun. I do really like braille. Fun fact, my icon is actually the braille letter M.
Well I guess that will be it for now. Hopefully I can manage to stick with writing here. Hope everyone is doing well.
Oh and maybe if anyone has any tips for using Dreamwidth, feel free to share them with me.
