Spring 2026 update
Hi MD friends!
As things stand right now, the DDoS / bot overwhelm has ended and everything seems calm. Is this the eye of the storm or smooth sailing? Only time will tell.
With things calming down, now is a good time for “right-sizing” of the wiki VMs. I'm confident that the resources we need to deliver the Wiki can be covered by our Patreon and Ko-Fi donations. If costs are higher, we'll continue to shoulder that indefinitely.
Aside from site housekeeping, let's also address AI or LLM content. There is already a rule on the subreddit against AI-generated content. Because this guideline has been so popular, we are extending it to the wiki.
Please do not post any LLM-generated content to the Wiki.
This is not a judgment against AI or its potential. Those debates will happen outside of the MD Wiki. But we will ask that all contributions be by humans for the indefinite future. AI bots have caused the site a lot of downtime and stress, so we are not in a rush to support them. Any mention of AI will bring lots of passionate voices, but we are in Hobby Mode and have full belief in this community's ability to do right by itself.
