I had a dream last night that the dSSS deadline had been moved up at the request of some of the participants. I was one of those very realistic dreams, so much so that when I got up this morning I had to check LJ to make sure I hadn't missed a post.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge 3 - 2021
Jan. 7th, 2021 06:11 pmChallenge #3: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
There's sooooooooooooooo many people I'd love to chat with. Moira Rose, just to hear her speak (and see what she'd wear). Bob Mackie, because I've been a fangirl of his costume designs forEVER, and I'm sure he'd have so many interesting stories in addition to talking about design. The Doctor (not sure which one, but I'm leaning toward early 10, 11 or 13.) Jim Henson, because I'd like to buy him dinner and thank him for so much joy. Leslie Knope, to share in her hope, energy, enthusiasm, and love of waffles. Lin-Manuel Miranda, because he's inspiring, I'd love to hear about his process, and we share a love of all things Weird Al. Okay, and Weird Al, becuase I think he's a genius.
But most of all, I'd love to have time (and a lovely meal) with all of my fannish friends. I miss seeing y'all so so much.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge 2 - 2021

In your own space (or their own space) interact with someone new. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. No need to leave a link for this one, but if you’d like to invite others to join the conversation, please do leave one.
Well, given that I'm a mod, this one is the easiest. Day two, CHECK!

Fandom Snowflake Challege 1 - 2021
Jan. 7th, 2021 05:08 pmSHE LIVES! And while I won't make any promises, I do hope to have more time to do writing of ANY sort this year, be it entries here or fic. So let's start with this year's Snowflake challenges.
Challenge #1
In your own space, introduce yourself! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Well, I'm mizface, here, there and everywhere. I've been fannish since before I ever even knew the word. My oldest, dearest fandom is Star Trek (most iterations delight me, but the original series is where it all began for me). I grew up on super-hero comic books, classic horror films, muppets, musicals, and sci-fi and fantasy books. I moved a lot as a kid, so books were my solace, my escape, my friends. I found my way to fandom through zines (fandom crone ftw!) and then online through Yahoo Groups.
I am an artist, but also love to write and sing.
I am a mom to two wonderful boys. My oldest just turned 19 this week. My younger boy will be 16 in March.
I'm bi, though not in a relationship (and given how the world is going, that isn't changing any time soon).
I have three tattoos and want more. My first tat is my default icon.
I have five cats and know better than to want more (most of the time).
I have a lot of interests, fannish and not. Currently, I'm getting out of my December habit of watching every Hallmark Christmas romcom ever made, and into the last couple of seasons of Doctor Who, which I am very much enjoying.
And I'm running out of time, as I need to get dinner going soon. Thanks for stopping by to meet me!

2019 Seekrit Santa Letter
Oct. 14th, 2019 11:01 pmFirst things first. THANK YOU for doing this!!!
If this looks at all familiar, it's because it's the exact same letter as last year. Apparently, when it comes to dS fic, I'm pretty much set in my ways.
( specifics under the cut )

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 15
Jan. 15th, 2019 09:01 pmTalk about why you participated in Snowflake &/or what you got out of it. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Wow. I cannot believe we're at the end of this. Well, except I'm kind of not at the end. I mean, I know I plan on coming back to the comm over the next year, seeing if I can find a wish to grant, or maybe another new fandom to try out (thanks whoever recced Schitt's Creek!!!), or a challenge to do. So for me, it's an ongoing thing.
I'm part of the Snowflake challenge because I can't NOT be. I'm a co-mod because I want to make sure it keeps going. I'm a participant because I love (most of) the challenges. And I'm both because it was started by one of my dearest friends, continued by more dear friends, and I've gotten to meet new friends through it too.
Snowflake is, to me, connection. To the past, the present, and the future of fandom, of friendship, of the sheer joy of loving what we love and doing what we do to express it.
How can I not be part of something that great?

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 14
Jan. 14th, 2019 11:01 pmIn your own space, talk about what you think the future holds for fandom. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
You know, I really don't like this challenge, because while I consider myself a creative person, I have ZERO imagination when it comes to What Comes Next. I just hope it will be something that continues to help us connect. As one of those who've been in fandom since the Olden Days of 'zines, the internet has been a wondrous thing. I've met people who love things that I love, and more importantly, the way that I love them. There's nothing like being able to share that passion and enthusiasm. I've made friends from all over. While the how of us connecting will evolve, that connecting - it will keep on keeping on.
So in conclusion, no idea what will happen next, but I have no doubt that something will, and that I'll do my best to keep up with it. Fandom is a forever thing.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 13
Jan. 13th, 2019 09:30 pmIn your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
So yeah, I LOVE lists. Partly because there's so much going on between me and the kids, I'd never get things done without them!
( lists ahoy! )

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 12
Jan. 13th, 2019 07:01 pmIn your own space, create your own challenge. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Okay, so I posted this yesterday, and being the poster, I knew about it well before that. But I'm still pondering what to say. There have been SO MANY fabulous ideas from everyone participating this year - I love it!
In fact, even though it's kind of lazy, I think I'm going to say everyone should go, look at the challenges, and pick one to do. Myself included, of course. Because I'm just blanking on anything to say.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 11
Jan. 13th, 2019 05:36 pmIn your own space, talk about your creative process(es) — anything from the initial inspiration to how you feel after something’s done. Do you struggle with motivation or is it a smooth process? Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to pull out when a fanwork isn’t cooperating? What is your level of planning to pantsing/winging it? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Jan. 13th, 2019 05:21 pmCreate a fanwork. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Okay, so I wanted to do a drawing of my new fave pairing, Eddie Brock/Venom, but I've been sketching and it is not working. However, I also wanted a Symbrock icon, so I took a quick sketch I did a bit ago, uploaded it, and made the hearts red (because they're in loooooooooooooove).
So there you go! Day 10 (finally) done!

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 9
Jan. 10th, 2019 10:08 pmCommit an Act of Kindness. In your own space, share what you’ve done, talk about what you’ve done, or simply leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Okay, so I'm a day behind, but I"m going to be zen about it. Even though I hate missing deadlines. *lets it go*
I didn't actually get to see this challenge until I was home last night, so today worked better anyhow. It was nothing big - I let an older gentleman ahead of me in line at the grocery so he wouldn't have to wait to buy his two items (I had a lot more). And when it turned out he'd parked next to me, I took his cart back tot he corral. So yeah, nothing major, but I'm counting it.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 8
Jan. 8th, 2019 07:43 pmDay 8
In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
This challenge really highlighted the fact that I didn't post a lot this past year. So while I do have some self-recs, a couple are really old.
( a mix of older and newer stuff )

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 7
Jan. 7th, 2019 11:17 pmStretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. Try working in a new medium. Or check out some fanworks that are new to you. (The recs from Day 2 might be a good place to start.) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I have done the thing! After seeing a really cool couple of clips for Schitt's Creek (which I should already have been watching, given the cast), I started watching. And by started, I mean I've now binged my way through season 1.
I also have Season 1 of Brooklyn Nine Nine on the way from the library!

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 6
Jan. 6th, 2019 03:33 pmIn your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day 5
Jan. 6th, 2019 02:58 pmSo, DomH turned SEVENTEEN yesterday(!?!) which meant busy times, which explains me posting later than usual. Well, that and I was in charge of posting today's challenge. :)
In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Y'know what, I think this year, I'm going with Twitter recs.

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
Okay, so I'm going in a slightly different direction on this one, I think...
( not so much favorite as life-changing )
