Swim Team

This year I didn't give Matt much choice about letting me put Jordan on the swim team. Not that he was telling me no but it's just not his sport. I thought it would be good for him to get his strength and endurance up for football in the fall (good one huh ;) But it has been really fun watching him. He definitely has a natural talent and is picking the different strokes up very quickly. His best so far is backstroke which I was shocked about. He did awesome in his first meet and took first place in all his events, 25yd freestyle, 25yd backstroke and 100yd freestyle relay.

Here is a video of his backstroke race. He is the third one from the right hand side (in the beginning) in lane three. I couldn't be more proud!

Camping

Matt and I have a pretty crappy schedule. We have no days off together. We do get to see each other but not much. It's a good thing we have all boys so they can entertain each other and do boy stuff while I am at work. These boys are all boy. Jordan loves guns and knives and camping. Kyle will pick up anything that moves and crawls and is ugly. They go hunting for snakes and scorpions ALL the time and I will get random pictures of the creatures they find while I am at work. Here are some pictures of the latest camping trip.

I still don't understand the fascination with snakes

They have another camping trip coming up in a few weeks so who knows what crazy creatures they will find and adventures they will have.

Flag Football!

Jordan was finally old enough to do football this year and of course Matt couldn't be more proud even though it was only flag football. He still doesn't get to put on the pads for another year...and that's okay with me :)ImageImage
I love this picture!ImageThis was Jordan's first gameImage

The team was very young and very small compared to the other teams but they learned so much and can't wait for next year!

It's summer time!

I know it has been a LONG time since updating my blog and alot has happened over the last year. There's just never enough hours in the day. So where do I begin? I think when I left off I was close to getting done with school. Yes I did graduate and I did start working on a cardiac floor for about eight months. I worked nights and it was a VERY hard schedule. I don't even know if I remember most of that time. Working nights is killer on the brain. But I learned so much in that first year and I was so lucky to work with some great people. Now I am working in acute rehab and I am really enjoying it. I learn so much from my patients and I meet some really cool people. I work days and that has made all the difference in the world. I actually get stuff done around the house...okay sometimes...and I think I am better with the kids cuz I'm not tired all the time.ImageImageJordan started kindergarteImagen this year. He went to two different schools because we moved mid year and had a hard time but did really well and learned so much!

Kyle was in preschool. It was nice to have a couple hours out of the day to get some sleep or some other stuff done. I can't believe how big they are getting!ImageImageWe finally bought a house and moved in November '09. It is so nice to finally feel settled and know that we aren't going to have to be moving again in another year. We can actually decorate and not worry about leaving holes in the wall. It has been slow but coming along. We even have a backyard with grass! That was our first goal to get done once we moved in.

A day at the beach...

ImageSo I finally made it through my last week of clinicals. It was brutal! I'm still not done with school and I have a lot of papers to write and tests to study for, but at least I am on the downhill slope finally. We decided to take a last minute trip to California to relax on the beach all day. We splurged and booked a hotel right on the beach so we could walk everywhere. It was a beautiful hotel, the room was a little small, but that's ok when you are going to spend all day at the beach, right? Unfortunately, the weather channel lied! It was supposed to be sunny, but it was cold and cloudy. Doesn't make for a very fun day at the beach. We still tried, and had fun for a little bit, but it was just too cold for the boys to have any fun. Of course the sun peaked out through the clouds for a few hours to let us enjoy a walk to Huntington Beach Pier and have lunch at Duke's.

ImageImageThe next day, we decided we would head down to San Diego and hit up the tidepools at Cabrillo National Monument. At least it was a beautiful sunny day. The boys were so tired from all the walking we did the day before that their legs hurt so bad, walking was almost out of the question. We got them to "walk it off" and walked around the cliffs and tidepools for a bit and then headed home.ImageImage

Snow Day

This has been the longest, quickest, busiest last month of school EVER! I remember wondering why my sister was always so busy and grouchy when she was in her last semester of nursing school, and now I know why. It is nuts! I was supposed to have the week off from clinicals, but of course, the schedules were rearranged at the last minute. Matt has taken the week off so we could go out of town, but that didn't happen. He did take the week off still though which helped so much with the kids and not having to find babysitting for the week. I feel like I never get to see any of them. It will be much better in about a month. One of the things he did do though was take the kids to see the snow. They didn't really like this big tractor that was moving snow around, so that kinda ruined the day. But here are a few pictures from the adventure.

ImageAs you can see in the pictures, I think Kyle cried the entire day. I could tell Matt had just had it when I got home from school. I really appreciate all of his help of these last few weeks. I am just hoping that he can survive a few more!

Meet Frank!

Image
Yes, we have had several dogs since getting married in 2001. I think last we counted it was 9. Well, this is Frank. Yes his name is silly. The boys love him and they love carrying him around the house. I hope he gets completely potty trained soon!
