My Story
Hello, I paint under the stage name MonArp, a combination of the first letters of my first and last name. I live and paint in Slovakia.
My artistic journey began unconventionally with a color by number kit that I purchased at the end of 2020. I used the remaining acrylic paints to create my first winter landscape on a piece of old cardboard.
Although I do not have a formal art education, I pour a reflection of my soul, inspiration from nature, music, and everyday moments into my paintings.
"I yearn for the freedom of Impressionism, yet my paintings always find their way to reality. I want to get lost in a blurry colored haze, but I'm constantly drawn to the sharp contours of reality."
On the canvas, I strive to capture the world exactly as I see it - authentically, personally, and uniquely.
Acrylic is my favourite technique. Its versatility, fast drying, and
intense colours allow me to work with layers and textures, creating
durable images.
Conversely, watercolour introduces an element of unpredictability and freedom into my work, where the final appearance of the piece is often a surprise even to me.
I occasionally dedicate time to oil painting and dry pastels as well.
My goal is not to overwhelm the viewer with dramatic effects or a complicated composition. Instead, I focus on capturing harmony and peace. I want to transport the viewer into a world where time slows down and worries vanish into the distance.
