Dangan Roleplay is a serious game about murder...

...And 99 people are alive.

We never would have guessed, when we came up with this idea in October of 2013, that the game we threw together in the span of a few weeks would become the juggernaut that it is now. And the reason why we were able to create such a wonderful game is because of you, because of everyone who's played with us, who's braved the reserves cornucopia and explored the mysteries of Jabberwock Island, of an underground bunker, and of a lonely island hotel. You've all gone above and beyond so many times that we had to come up with a new classification of Good End+.

After Round 1 saved the SDR2 characters, we joked that we would keep going until we saved the victims of the original Dangan Ronpa as well. And now, almost three years after the start of R1, it's with bittersweet emotions that we're announcing that there will be no more canon rounds of Dangan Roleplay.

What does this mean for the future?
Even though the official "Canon" of Dangan Roleplay ends with Round 3, we're not going anywhere. There will still be gimmick rounds for as long as we can think of gimmick rounds to have (We have plans for AU Ronpa, OC Meatgrinder, Dadgan Mompa, and others). We are so, so proud of our players, and it's because we respect how much you've given to this game that we've decided that, after unlocking Platinum Ending, anything that we could come up with for Round 4 would be jumping the shark.

Is there a possibility of more canon rounds later?
For the moment, we're going to say no. Unless a future installment completely revitalizes the series and gives us something new to plot with (like Ultra Despair Girls and R3), consider Round 3's Platinum ending to be the end of the Dangan Roleplay "Canon".

I was waitlisted in Round 3, what now?
We're going to be finalizing a list of who still has waitlist priority, and we will still honor Round 3 waitlist slots for as long as people have yet to redeem them. We'll be following the same system that we have for the gimmick/guest rounds so far: opening reserves an hour early for waitlist slots, and then opening it to the public.

Plus, we will also honor R3 waitlists for the Musical Murdergame It's Curtains!, run by Lynny, Lepo, and Lu, as well as a brand new murdergame, Airlocked, coming this February.

But I don't want to let go!
We're not asking you to. We love reminiscing with you and watching you engage with this unique story that you helped create. It's your story to tell now. Whether that's with fic or art on the kink meme, with PSLs, or even continuing your characters' stories with CRAUs, we encourage you to continue loving this game as much as you always have. And remember, we'll always have Kalos.

Will I still be able to look up old threads/read old trials?
Of course you will, everything will remain archived and open to everyone to read. In fact, we're going to organize the tags so that every entry is tagged with all the appropriate (and consistent) tags. Also, we will be making a "How to Read: Dangan Roleplay" that will be a masterpost of links for every post and log for every round (including gimmick rounds), as well as links to the things that you the players have made to engage with the story (HopesArmy, the kink memes and meme comm, the TVTropes page, just to name a few).

In short, thank you for coming along on this wild ride with us, for helping us revolutionize a game genre, and for dedicating your time and effort (and many, many weekends) to all the tears and laughter and despair that we've had over the last three years. We also want to put out an extra special thanks to Dal and Chi, Dal for being the greatest mastermind and secret mod we could have ever asked for and Chi for being a delight of a co-mod for the two rounds we had her. We never would have made it this far without you two and we love you both endlessly.

But most of all, thank you for playing with us, and thank you for putting as much love into this game as we have. Without you, there would have been no Dangan Roleplay. And maybe, just maybe, the real Hope was the friends that we made along the way.
