I attended a support group ran and organized by MDAM. My mother was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and my already fragile mental state slowly started to show more cracks. The group welcomed me with open arms and helped walk me through what to expect since it was my first time joining the group. Everyone in attendance was lovely, helpful, and made the session really feel like a safe place. The first step was scary but I highly recommend attending a meeting and see what it is all about! – M.C.

I purchased the Positive Affirmation Cards last year, and they have been a great addition to our school age program. Aside from the beauty of the cards themselves, each card has an inspirational message that promotes positive thinking and a positive sense of self. We posted the affirmations around the room, for the children to look at when they are feeling down, or anytime they feel inspired to do so. I encourage people to purchase these wonderful cards to extend support to the MDAM for all that they do and to help people in the community. In a day and age where it’s easy to be flooded with negativity, positive messages, such as the affirmations on the cards, are vital to our emotional well-being.

I would like to share the impact that Mood Disorders of Manitoba has had in my life.  I was part of Mood Disorders at a time when things in my life were difficult.  I was referred to your organization and began volunteering.  This encouraged me to help others and take the focus off myself and my own problems.  Eventually, I became more confident in myself and began to further my volunteer work in other areas of Mood Disorders.  Eventually, I became employed, and this gave me a sense of self-respect.

Not only did these areas help me in my recovery, but also the fact that when I needed help Mood Disorders was always there to help.  They have so many groups and programs that everyone can be helped in some way. – Wendy B.

Hello, it’s Anne I really loved your Dance program as much as I love dance and have been doing it since I was little it was canceled because of covid so this program helped me stay active doing what I love. I felt this program was very accepting too. With my crazy and hyperness not many ppl like me but in that  group I felt accepted. – Anne/Anyetta

MDAM offers a safe non-judging place to heal and to grow and to give back and to flourish. It made and continues to make a difference in my life. – Bob

Whether I am having the worst week of my life, or the absolute best, they are there to cry with me, laugh with me, and cheer me on to the best that I can be.” – Anonymous

From my very first interaction through an email, I was treated with kindness and respect. They care, support, and encourage me to help me see my value as a person.” – Anonymous

On behalf of my daughter and our family we would like to Thank you for the amazing time my daughter has had at MAD Camp and not just for the one week, but for the entire 5 weeks.  She got the opportunity to attend all 5 weeks. She has had an amazing time and by amazing, I mean she gave up all the other summer activities we were planning on doing to go to MAD Camp! – Parent, MAD Camp 2020

The councilors have been incredible with the kids.  Because my daughter has been judged and shunned by her peers and not usually accepted because of her learning disability, she is really shy and reserved.  She also has High anxiety and depression on top of being very emotional, MAD Camp has been a game changer for her. – Parent from MAD Camp 2020

I’ve known about Mood Disorders for quite some time from my friend, who had good experiences. I was looking for a camp that would be suitable for Aiden and where he could have a positive experience during his stay with us. I found it at MAD camp. He enjoyed being with so many other people and having so much fun.  Which was evident at the end of the day when we picked him up. He looked forward to going each day. – 2021 MAD Camp Parent

My daughter loved going to MAD camp.  She originally signed up for 2 weeks, but liked it so much that she wanted to go for a 3rd! She was definitely nervous the first couple of days, but as the days went on, I saw her confidence and comfort level grow.  She seemed to really appreciate the staff, and got along well with them.  I loved the focus on the arts – to help them express, be creative, increase confidence, and find their voice.  My daughter commented to me that she really liked going because she didn’t feed “judged”.  Thank you so much to the staff for all their patience and care with the campers, and thank you to the United Way for making my daughter’s summer amazing through MAD camp! – Mom, MAD Camp 2021
