Man, it's been ages since I wrote anything here. I'm not even going to go back and look, because I'll just be ashamed of how long, lol.
Maybe if I write here more regularly, I'll start to get my writing mojo back in general. That would be nice.
Thanks to IJ's massive journal purge and me having to go undelete some RP journals so I didn't lose them, I have been swimming in old RP nostalgia. I spent 16 straight hours reading old threads the other day, and I went and bought Windmaster's Bane on Kindle (especially because it was only 99 cents) and am going to start reading it tonight. I miss RPing like I used to. These days it's a miracle if I can get through my few paltry tags more than once a week. And then I feel guilty because I'm not tagging, which meansI get anxious when I sit down to do tags, which just makes it worse. I don't know how to break this cycle, but I really, really want to.
This post really doesn't serve much of a purpose, but hey, it's a journal, right? So I'm writing down my thoughts. I guess that's its purpose. *G*

Hello! First off, thank you in advance for the lovely story I'm sure I will get for Yule!
I promise you there will be more specifics for my requested fandoms coming soon. It's my 19th wedding anniversary on the 11th, so it probably won't be until the 12th or 13th, but since I gave you pretty much nothing to go on in my last-minute signup, I've at least jotted down a few thoughts on each here.
Or hey, if you've got a great idea for one of the fandoms I requested all on your own, run with it! So long as it doesn't hit any of my squicks (which I listed in the signup and will repaste below in case other authors come trolling for treats) I'm sure I'll love it.
( General Likes/DislikesCollapse )
( Fandom 1: Across the Universe - Max Carrigan, Jude FeenyCollapse )
( Fandom 2: The Martian - Mark WatneyCollapse )
( Fandom 3: Mr. Robot - Elliot Alderson, Darlene Alderson, Tyrell Wellick, Joanna WellickCollapse )
( Fandom 4: Graceland - Mike Warren, Paul Briggs, Johnny TuturroCollapse )
( Fandom 5: Bloomsbury RPF - Vanessa Bell, Duncan Grant, Bunny Garnett, Virginia WoolfCollapse )
Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to write a story just for me. I have been a Yuletider for several years now, and it's always one of my favorite parts of the holidays.
Happy Yuletiding, and may the plot bunnies be plentiful!

Haven't done one of these in a while, but since I'm finally starting to get my shit together post-holidays, I figured it was a good idea to put it all down and figure things out.
State of the Me:
I'm doing all right. The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas was a bit rough and I was working a LOT on top of all of that, but I'm feeling better now and hopefully it'll last. I'll probably be dropping a lot of my older threads just to get a fresh start in the New Year, but if there's anything anyone wants to continue just let me know, I'm happy to keep going if it's wanted.

[May. 20th, 2014|05:28 pm]
The Moonlight Sonata
|
I want to do a SotP, but that will have to happen later this week. For now it's just a state of the me post.
I was finally getting back into a tagging groove, and then I got a big order from my sister for a bunch of the necklaces I make for her to sell in her store, as well as another store in her area (it's a franchise store, Kid to Kid, reselling used children's clothing if you haven't heard of them). At the SAME time I got assigned a new copywriting assignment which basically consists of writing an entire website for a dental practice in Ireland, so lots of technical copywriting to be done on that.
And of course they both hit at almost the same time. So my tagging mojo has kind of dwindled away to almost nothing as I try to use what little focus I have (thanks meds :P) to get the stuff I'm being paid for done.
That said, the copywriting should be wrapped up by tomorrow or Thursday and I only have 4 more necklaces to make until more supplies arrive, so that should be done tomorrow as well. In the meantime there were many EPs I had said I wanted to tag into that I have not yet done, as well as my outstanding tags. I kind of want to organize what EPs are still open and where my kids are wanted so that as soon as I get this work done I can do those tags. I would also like to move any threads from before May toward a wrap if we haven't already done so. I don't want to drop anything, but I do want to tidy up my older stuff so I don't get overwhelmed doing new stuff.
With all of that said, under the cut I am going to organize what I need for reqs and where I want to get them. If you have an EP open that one of mine are still welcome to tag with the caveat that it probably won't be until tomorrow night at the earliest, possibly Thursday, please comment and let me know whose EP it is and who you would like if you have a preference. Also if I list an EP that you're no longer accepting new tags on, feel free to let me know and I'll remove them from the list.
( Tag-Ins!Collapse )
If you read the whole thing, thank you for your time and effort, you get a cookie. If you have somewhere I can tag into, I will love you forever, you get all the cookies. ;)

So I probably should get this up before it's too late to even have a shot at it. :D This is my annual "I will try and probably fail to get a Christmas card out to you in a timely fashion, but if you want a card from me that will most likely show up in mid-February here's your chance!" post. *cough*
Even if you think I have your address, please leave a comment if you want a card from me. Comments are screened. Also favorite colors and any food allergies would be appreciated, in case I can manage something a bit more than a card. <3333
If you have a post up, please let me know in the comment so I can sign up for your cards, too! I know I've missed a few of them because I fail, but I would love to have cards from all of you.
(Crap, I need to re-up my paid account so I can get my holiday icons back. Oops. Oh well, have my default icon for now.)

Hello Yuletide Author! Thank you for being patient while I got my letter written, and more importantly, thank you for offering one of my favorite small fandoms! Before I delve into each individual requests, I'll give you a quick general rundown.
Things I like: Hurt/comfort, angst, fluff, OT3s, incest, adventures, humor, smut
Things I don't like: random AUs (high school, figure skating, etc: anything that takes them out of the general world they're already in), mpreg, hardcore BDSM, some kinks (a little bloodplay is nbd, but scat, watersports and baby RP are the ones that come to mind most as not really my thing. Also hardcore obsessions with a certain body part like a foot fetish).
If I think of anything else I will update, but I think that about covers it for now.

State of the Me:
Winter is the busiest time of year at my job and January is hands down the busiest month, and with the federal unemployment extensions being passed at the last minute it's even busier than usual this year. It's currently at least a two-hour hold to get through to us, and I have seen the queues climb to over three hours at times this past week. My job is mentally and emotionally tiring at the best of times, between all of the rules and laws you have to keep in your mind and dealing with people who are angry, frustrated, discouraged, depressed, desperate...yeah. With 3 hour hold times that is only intensified. For the past two weeks I have come home from work so braindead that I feel accomplished if I can get through 2-3 tags, but I am trying to get at least one tag per thread, per night whenever I can. I just ask that you bear with me, it should start to lighten up a bit soon, and hopefully by Valentine's Day I'll be back to normal, or getting there. If you need to know anything about me or my pups I'm always happy to discuss on AIM or in email, and if you need to ask for a ftb on a thread I swear I totally understand.

| Everyone at the ER loved my nails. |
[Dec. 5th, 2012|11:54 pm]
The Moonlight Sonata

So tonight I spent a few hours in the emergency room. I was driving home from work and started coughing, and then my chest started hurting right over my heart, and it felt tight, and my left arm was kind of hurting, too. I wasn't sure how much of it was real symptoms and how much was psychosomatic, because that's the way my marvelous, special brain likes to fuck with me, so I got home, waited a bit, and it was still hurting off and on. So I took an ativan to see if it was just a panic attack, waited some more, and it was still hurting an hour after I got home. I was pretty sure it wasn't an actual heart attack, but I also know it's always better to err on the side of caution, especially when it comes to heart health.
So we went to the ER. They did an EKG, drew blood, did some chest x-rays and gave me 600 mg of ibuprofen. After 2 and a half hours, they said it was quite probably that I had strained a muscle in my chest right around my heart when I was coughing, and that's where the pain was.
The upside is that my EKG looked fantastic, my heart is very healthy, my lungs are clear, and multiple nurses complimented me on my nail art. ( nail artCollapse )
So not exactly how I planned to spend my Wednesday evening, but I'm fine in the end, which is what matters. And at least Peace of Mind will bill my insurance first, because it's a costly bitch some days.
And now I have waited up until the Star Trek "announcement trailer" dropped, and have watched it twice as well as advanced frame by frame through it, so now I'm going to go sleep, because for some reason lying around on a gurney for 3 hours while stressing about if I was okay or something was wrong or I was overreacting, etc. etc. has left me exhausted. I'll hit my tags tomorrow, lovelies. <333

Ugh, I just can't. I don't know what's with me the last few days, but I am so unmotivated to do ANYTHING. I have managed work and...that's about it. I come home and put something on the TV and half the time don't even pay attention to it. I haven't done tags, dinner's come out of a bag, I'm not even chatting or answering my emails, and I don't know why. I'm not depressed, it's like...I'm out of charge, or something. Maybe going to a movie tomorrow with Dave is a good idea, give me a change of scenery and see if it snaps me out of this.
Related: If I owe you a tag, I'm so sorry I'm failing right now. They will be coming as soon as I can get my brain into a halfway decent state for tagging. <333

Do any of you live in/near Vancouver, BC that would be willing to take 500 popsicle sticks, a spool of sewing thread and some quick-drying glue (and a camera) to Second Beach in Stanley Park Sunday at noon for a few hours? If I could afford to get up there and back I would go myself, but with gas prices how they are I'm afraid it's impossible. You may or may not get the chance to meet Misha Collins if you do this.

I don't usually do this kind, but this one sounds appealing today for some reason.
Pick a trope from this list and provide a fandom/pairing and I'll tell you something about the story I'd write for that combination (i.e. write a snippet from the story or write not!fic or tell you the title and summary for the story I would write)
1. genderswap 2. bodyswap 3. drunk!fic 4. huddling for warmth 5. pretending to be married 6. secretly a virgin 7. amnesia 8. cross-dressing 9. forced to share a bed 10. truth or dare 11. historical AU 12. accidental-baby-acquisition 13. apocalypse fic 14. telepathy 15. High School / College AU
And now I'm going to go lie down because my stomach hurts. :P

| [ | mood |
| | sick | ] | Wow, a real entry. It's been a while. Hi everyone!
I attended my first Dragon*Con over the weekend. Despite the fact that it was WAY too crowded on Saturday (like, panic attack inducing levels of crowded) overall I had a really good time. I got to shake John Barrowman's hand, watch him and Scott drop their pants and show off their Superman and Batman underwear to a crowd of thousands of fans, see Grant Imahara (who is utterly adorable and I love him more than ever now), attend a live recording of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast, go to a geeky panel about exoplanets (SCIENCE!), and see the cast of the Guild all together at the Geek and Sundry panel (man, Jeff Lewis and Sandeep Parikh are funny). I also got to hang out with friends, eat lots of good food, check out amazing cosplay, spend more money in the dealers rooms than I should have, and generally just enjoy myself.
The bad part is that I cought a lovely case of concrud just in time to fly home cross-country. My head is currently completely full of nothing but snot, my ears won't stop popping, I've worked my way through an entire box of Kleenex in less than 24 hours, and no amount of NyQuil seems to be making a dent. Flying with a head cold is sheer misery, let me tell you. Fortunately, I don't work again until Monday, so I'm just going to lie around like a sloth and wait for this to pass and watch some bad TV on Netflix. I'm around on AIM when I'm conscious enough, but tagging right now would be pretty much impossible, and don't expect much scintillating conversation.
And now I'm going to go blow my nose again.

I found out today that my stepmom's mother passed away yesterday. It was really sudden, and while I didn't know her all that well, I'm fairly close to my stepmom, so I'm kind of just reeling right now. Also three states away, so all I can do is call and offer sympathy to my stepmom and stepsister, which sucks. Anyway, if I'm acting a little off or quiet for the next few days, this is why.

But on with the nails!
I didn't get any pics of my ruffian manicure, so I'll have to do it again sometime. It was a pretty shimmery blue-green over white. It started chipping at work today, so tonight I took it off and did these:

Wow, hello random cleaning jag. I decided I wanted to tidy up a bit, mostly unclutter the kitchen and living room so that we can have a nice, tidy house for Christmas. Instead I spent the last hour scrubbing the kitchen, wiping down the cabinets and countertops. I both love and hate when I get manic like this, because it makes my house look and smell so clean but it takes FOREVER to get the things I actually planned to do done. Ah well, quick break so I don't burn out and then I'll work on the entryway that has mail and jackets and boxes piled up. That should go pretty fast.
I've noticed since moving to DW I'm more interested in posting, so that's nice at least. :) Now I just need to buy a paid account so I can import all of my icons.
