Basic stuff--I am a 44 year old eccentric writer and married to a confirmed computer geek. We have an 12 year old daughter and a 6 year old son who are my greatest joys and greatest trials--combined in one. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Communication from Trinity University and a Master's degree in English from the University of Incarnate Word. I'm a full-time mom and attempting to continue with my writing career despite raising small children. I enjoy reading science fiction, fantasy, paranormal romances, mystery, non-fiction, and spiritual/philosophical type stuff. I also enjoy role-playing. Currently, my husband and I are playing a Pathfinder game. We are also playing in a 1st ed D&D game. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I've read most of the Expanded Universe novels (all the adult ones). I enjoy taking hikes and spending time with my kids. I love music and my secret dream was to be a famous rock star--ah well. Someday, I may go back to school, but the plans for that are on hold.
While I have yet to make a dime from my writing, I've written a lot. My first novel Elven Eire is a typical first novel, but it taught me a lot. My second two novels require the third book for me to finish the trilogy (The Sinister Princess, Shadows Surround the Princess, and the Last Paladin). I am seeking publication for my Stringed Sextet. My series has the following titles: Strings of Fate, Strings of Love, Strings of Desire, Strings of War, Strings of Sorrow, Strings of Destiny, Web of Fate, Harps of War, untitled book about the Godwars (the last three haven't been written yet). I recently finished The Power of Rain for NaNoWriMo; it is an erotic superhero novel. I also have on hold a paranormal novel, Death on the Riverwalk. My husband recently bought the domain Gerilandria.com, and I hope to start working on my web site in the nebulous future. I hope to post short stories from my series on the web site. I am looking for an agent.
I'm a bard (not the old school Celtic kind, but by vocation), and I love all things creative. Right now, my spiritual beliefs are in a state of flux. I believe in a higher power that is both God and Goddess, I believe that each God or Goddess that has followers is an aspect of that higher deity. I believe in totem spirits, angels, demons, and devils. I believe in good and evil, but being a paladin by nature that good will triumph over evil. I believe that we should all strive to overcome our prejudices and seek to look at the other person's point of view even when we disagree with it. I also believe that Christ is an aspect of God that I identify with, and I am looking for a Goddess aspect that I can agree with.
I'm romantic, passionate and tend to ramble on and on, but most of my friends forgive my forays into stream of conscious writing. My journal is primarily for keeping in touch with RL and LJ friends, and it is not heavily edited as I don't have the time to mess with it. I'm also hoping to make contacts with other writers--both amateurs and professionals. In the past, I've posted a few rants, but of late I want to post what I've been doing during my day, reviews of books/shows/movies, and general random thoughts that migrate into my head.
Some goals I have in the nebulous future: to learn to play violin, guitar, and saxophone.
Call this journal a means for me to improve upon myself, so be forewarned that the road you travel into my heart may very well be paved with cobblestones and blocked by concertina wire.
Of recent import, I was in a near fatal car accident in February 2010 with my son (he sustained a broken leg and cut on his scalp). I broke my hip and had damage from several internal organs that were repaired. I was on the local TV news three times due to the wreck. It took me four months to go from wheel chair bound to walking without a cane. I've become reconciled to the fact that I have a minor handicap that sadly needs a handicapped sticker. I am working out erratically, and I would like to make it more of a habit. I have started driving again, but just in the local neighborhood.
Rules for posting in my live journal. DO NOT POST MY ENTRIES IN FACEBOOK OR I WILL UNFRIEND YOU. DO NOT POST COMMENTS TO MY ENTRIES IN FACEBOOK OR I WILL ALSO UNFRIEND YOU. Do not resort to name calling in my personal space (I wouldn't be rude in your personal space). If you cannot respect my wishes, then do not post a response to what I say. New rule--if I say something that offends you, let me know politely, and we can talk about it.
