⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Ako Shirabe
Age: 9
Canon: Suite Precure
Canon Point: Episode 32

Background: Wiki Link

Personality: Of all the Precure in this particular season, Ako is the youngest. However, that doesn't mean she's less mature. Quite the opposite. She might just be nine years old, but the girl knows how to take care of herself and is, in many ways, wiser than her companions. And she's certainly the most serious member of the group. Even before she officially joins the team, there are many occassions where she shows herself to be much smarter than her age would suggest.

That serious nature has much to do with the great weight on her shoulders for the majority of the show. Unable to fight her father directly or to let him do as he pleases, she does what she can to remain neutral while protecting people at the same time. To do this, she isolates herself and this carries over into every part of her life. Even when she isn't being Cure Muse, when she's just being Ako, she's not very social. The only person outside family that she hangs out with on a regular basis before joining the team is Kanade's little brother, Souta.

Even then, she's slow to warm up to him completely, always being just a little distant until later in the series. While it's implied Ako was more open in the past, the girl we get to know definitely isn't. Before she gets to know people and learn to trust them, she'll act cold towards them. Even, if not especially, towards people older than her. This girl says what she thinks and what she thinks is very blunt, plus hardly respectful. You have to earn her respect first. Seriously, Ako will judge you if she thinks you're being stupid. She will judge you a lot.

Of course, just as she takes other things seriously, she takes herself pretty seriously as well. She's not arrogant and doesn't expect people to think the world of her, despite her being a princess, but she still has a certain amount of pride. She doesn't like it when people make fun of her or call her cute and she'll show her displeasure very clearly, often with biting sarcasm. Another thing she dislikes is when someone tries to imply she can't do something, as shown when Ellen tells her not to bother with high places and Ako is instantly displeased, quickly proving her wrong. She just wants people to take her as seriously as she takes herself. Which is very seriously, of course. Don't look down on this girl because of her age, because it will backfire.

It all comes from a great sense of responsibility. Because the conflict is so close to her, she can't help but want to do something about it. But she is still a young girl, so she doesn't always choose the best way for this. Many things in the show would have been fixed a lot sooner if Ako had been honest with the other Cures and joined the team from the start. But because of her love for her father, she can't bring herself to take him down. This comes back to bite her when her father and the Precure finally fight directly. Rather than allow the fight to conclude, she protects her father from a finisher - allowing him to steal the team's notes. In the end, her neutrality simply does not work in the long run, but her love for her family is enough to make her ignore this fact. Even asking the Precure for help is simply too much for her.

Despite all that, Ako is a very caring person. She doesn't always let people see it, but she has a very warm heart hidden underneath her cold demeanor. She's quick to save animals in need and is very gentle with them. The same goes for children younger than her. Plus there's the fact that she does fight to protect others. Even when she no longer needs to, when she's done what she set out to do in the first place, she keeps fighting. It's just not in her nature to let other people do the fighting when she could be helping out as well.

Once you know Ako for long enough, she will warm up to you. The snark will still be there, but she'll overall be smiling a lot more and feel more at ease when she's started to put her trust in someone.

Abilities: Like all Precure, Ako is able to magically transform with the use of a special item. In her case, she uses the Cure Module along with her fairy Dodori to transform into Cure Muse.

Every Cure gains a standard set of powers when they transform. Super strength, enhanced speed, extra stamina and ridiculous endurance. Not to mention they can jump really freaking high.

Cure Muse does have a few abilities unique to her, though. The first is her ability to conjure up a rainbow-colored keyboard. When she presses the keys, she creates a barrier. Later she uses two different solo attacks. The first, Shining Circle, creates multiplications of herself to trap the enemy in a beam of light. The other is Sparkling Shower, where she launches bubbles at the enemy to purify it. Sort of. Precure powers are weird, man. For Shining Circle and Sparkling shower, Muse requires the use of the fairy Shiri.

When she's together with the rest of the Suite team and they have the Healing Chest, the four girls can preform the special group attack Suite Session Ensemble Crescendo (boy that's a mouthful).

Other: At her current canon point, Ako does not show herself in her true transformed form. Rather, she transforms and then dons a special disguise, which both obfuscates her identity and makes her appear a great deal taller. This isn't an ability and the disguise is 100% mundane, but I figured I would note it.

Ako also arrives together with Dodori, her personal fairy tone companion. When in her black-colored Muse disguise, Dodori does all the talking for Ako, to better hide her identity. While the fairy tones get up to a great amount of shenanigans, they don't have a great amount of personality. They're not completely blank slates or anything, but hardly developed, distinct characters. (Except for maybe Fari, who is not the brightest of the group. Sorry, Fari.)

Dodori spends most of the show being Ako's mouth piece and not much more. They're definitely close, from what's shown and Dodori is very loyal to Ako. That said, she doesn't always agree with her choices, mostly out of concern. She worries over her partner a lot and tries to convince her to fight together with the other Precure, rather than stay on her own. Her loyalty wins out in the end and she never forces Ako to follow a certain path, but she makes her concerns very clear.

...She keeps voicing Ako's thoughts after her identity as Cure Muse is revealed, though at this point it's no longer needed. She does so mainly to reveal how Ako really feels about others and break down all that tsun a bit. Cue much embarrassment from Ako, of course.

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

First Person Sample: [Guess who's sounding super annoyed today? If you chose Ako, then congratulations, you win the prize.]

What's with these weird jobs lately? Putting aside all the weirdoes that want people to be negative around their places when we're trying to cheer things up around here, there's that job asking for people to lick street lights.

And people are seriously dumb enough to try that? It's so obviously just someone pranking people. And in a stupid way, too. Some people have too much time on their hands. If I see anyone with their tongue stuck to one, I'm ignoring you. You deserved that.

...If you ask nicely, I might make someone else help you, though. But only once, got it?

Third Person Sample: She isn't sure what she expected from the legendary warriors, but this... definitely wasn't it. When Ako had heard the stories about the Precure when she was younger, she expected something more like... Well. It felt silly to admit, but something more like her mom and dad.

These two certainly bickered enough to resemble them, but other than that? They weren't anything special. But it was all this world had. It couldn't rely on her, after all. True, she was a Precure, but...

Ako looked down from her spot on the roof, the fight between the Precure and the Negatone still going. It looked like the Negatone had the upper hand. At this rate, Cure Melody and Cure Rhythm would probably end up defeated, wouldn't they?

"Cure Muse." She glanced up at her partner, Dodori. The little purple fairy had a worried look on its face. "Shouldn't we help them?"

Ako didn't answer. She just looked back at the fight. Help them, huh...? If things got dire enough that their lives might be in danger, maybe. But as it was... She wasn't sure if she could bring herself to save them. These were the people who were supposed to defeat her father eventually. If they couldn't even handle this much, then what hope was there?

"They can't get stronger if you don't give them a chance first."

Suppressing a gasp, she once again looked back at the fairy tone. Geez... Dodori always seemed to know what was on her mind, somehow. Even if that was true, though... She was supposed to put all of her faith in these girls, who couldn't even take out a Negatone without bickering?

...But then. Her parents always bickered a lot too, didn't they? Before all of this.

She was shaken from her thoughts by a cry of pain from below. Melody had jumped in front of a blow meant for Rhythm, which just resulted in the both of them getting blasted away.

Damn it... They really should do this themselves. But how was she supposed to just turn away from them?

Quickly, she jumped down. She could help this once. Just this once. Next time, they were on their own.
