Learn How to Future-Proof Your Cybersecurity Strategy and Prepare for the Quantum Threat—Before It’s Too Late!

Are you hearing more and more about quantum computing, but unsure how it will impact your business, your data, or your job?
Are you wondering if it’s all hype—or a real threat you need to prepare for?

If so, you’re not alone. But here’s the reality: quantum computing is coming faster than most people think, and when it arrives, today’s encryption—and the security it protects—won’t be enough.

This book is your step-by-step guide to understanding and managing quantum risk—whether you're a beginner or a seasoned security leader.

Imagine knowing exactly where your organization stands on quantum readiness.
Imagine having a clear roadmap for how to protect sensitive data from being decrypted in the future—even if it’s stolen today.
Imagine becoming the go-to person in your company who actually understands what to do about quantum computing.

In Quantum Computing: Risks and Security Challenges Explained from Scratch, cybersecurity expert Taimur Ijlal breaks down complex topics into clear, actionable insights. You’ll learn how quantum computing works, why it poses a threat, and—most importantly—how to respond before it’s too late.

Inside this book, you’ll discover:
  • What makes quantum computers so powerful—and why that power threatens modern cryptography
  • The top misconceptions that stop companies from taking action (and how to overcome them)
  • A simple formula for identifying which data and systems are most at risk
  • How to build a post-quantum migration plan that won’t break your budget
  • Practical use cases of how quantum technologies can enhance cybersecurity—not just threaten it
  • The difference between Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)—and how to decide what’s right for you
  • Tools to assess your organization’s crypto-agility, vendor risk, and compliance gaps
  • A complete Quantum Readiness Toolkit including checklists, templates, and real-world examples
  • How to speak to your executives and board about quantum risk (in business terms, not jargon!)
  • Career opportunities in quantum security—and how to position yourself for the future

Whether you're a CISO, security architect, IT manager, compliance leader, or just someone curious about the future of cybersecurity, this book will give you the knowledge and tools to act with confidence—before the quantum wave hits.

Plus, you’ll get exclusive access to a downloadable Quantum Readiness Survival Kit, filled with templates and assessments to help you turn knowledge into action immediately.

This book is exactly what I needed to wrap my head around quantum computing threats without drowning in jargon. The author breaks down complex concepts in a way that actually makes sense. I especially appreciated the ready-to-use templates and checklists - they've already helped me start conversations at work about our quantum readiness. It's a solid resource if you're wondering what the heck you should be doing about quantum computing before it's too late. Worth the read!

I chose to read this book in order to learn more on how Quantum Computing will impact CyberSecurity. The book did quite good job on covering what is quantum computing, how different algorithms work that impact encryption and what it means for CyberSecurity. One could think that quantum computing is something that you don't need to worry about in the near future, but actually the book had very good insights already on the topic - there are many cases where organisations need to save data for the next 10 or 20 years, this data needs to be encrypted on rest, with current computing this would not be a problem, but with quantum computing it might be that during this time-period our methods aren't anymore secure. All in all I found that the book was quite tough provoking and covered basic quite well.

I warmly recommend this book, however I gave it 4/5 stars because I felt that the book needs more case examples. Even thought, like I said before, the book is good and I recommend it.

When the author asks in the introduction if what you know about quantum is from the Ant-Man movies, I could relate. The book gives solid definitions of quantum components and processes in easy-to-understand metaphors great for beginners. I learned a lot from this book and the impacts of quantum computing will have on security.

This book explains a complex topic in a way that’s easy to understand, even for non-experts. It breaks down what quantum computing means for cybersecurity and gives clear steps to prepare for future risks. A must-read for IT professionals who want to stay ahead of the curve.

Growing up around computers, everyone learns a little about computer security (or hopefully, they do), but not once until now have I found a resource that was not just entertaining but thought-provoking. The entire thought process around quantum computers can be a heavy subject. Just recently, over lunch, I had to explain it, and watched the eyes glaze over with confusion. The addition of quantum computing merged with network security and security aspects boggles the mind, given the computer power and options it brings up. This would be a highly complex subject, but this book handles it in such an easy and approachable way that I would recommend it to anyone interested in either subject.

This beginner-friendly guide offers a practical breakdown of the risks quantum computing poses to today’s encryption methods, and how organizations can start preparing now. Taimur Ijlal simplifies complex concepts and provides real-world strategies to assess vulnerabilities, build resilience, and future-proof your data. Whether you're new to the field or lead a security team, you'll find these valuable insights, tools, and checklists to evaluate crypto-agility, plan migrations, and communicate quantum risk effectively. This resource will empower you to stay ahead of the quantum curve.

This book offers a well-structured and beginner-friendly guide to quantum risks in cybersecurity. I appreciated how it broke down technical ideas into practical strategies. Some parts felt a bit repetitive, but overall it’s a helpful resource for those starting to explore the quantum threat landscape.

I’ll admit, I thought quantum risks were sci-fi stuff for our grandkids to worry about
this book flipped that mindset fast. The author’s right, we’re not ready for how quickly encryption could crumble. Straightforward, sobering and weirdly empowering. If you handle sensitive data, read this
Short chapters, no fluff. Glad I read it

It provides a solid introduction to quantum computing and is good for beginners. However, there are some formatting issues with the text, such as bullet points. I would have liked for it to dive deeper, as a lot of it just scratches the surface. But it's easy to follow and read for those new to the topic.
