Bubba and Soccer

So Bubba is playing soccer this year. Initially we received 2 emails telling us that he was on 2 different teams. So we went to both practices. Unfortunately one team told him to play goalie because somehow he’s pretty good at cutting off the angles. Over and over again they had him rush back to the goal. Too bad in this league there aren’t any goalies so when he went to his first game today he would do what he was told and run to the goal. Yeah, he had to unlearn that. He struggled with going toward the ball vs the goal at first but started getting the hang of it (note: after us yelling at him to run toward the ball over and over and over again). As he observed after the game he couldn’t wait to play vs. sit as a sub (which was way different than his siblings’ first tries playing soccer). So far so good. It was fun watching him.

After the game he regaled me with his war stories of his adventures during the game, as if I hadn’t been watching. Love this kid.

Following recipes

Kevin always laughs at me that I can’t follow directions or recipes without changing things. I just do it. He says he never knows how it’s going to taste when I make things. It’ll always be good, just different. Every. single. time.

Today I was making a pumpkin sheet cake for the kids because it’s the first day of fall. Because it was a new recipe I was trying  really hard to follow the recipe. I COULDN’T DO IT!  I seriously realized I had started adding things here and there and only realized AFTERWARD that I had done so. OH well it’ll still be good. Plus there’s nothing to compare it to so the kids will think it’s awesome.

Great friends

So today I got a text from a person I didn’t know. In the text it was Megan. She said “Mom I lost my phone can you help me find it?”  She had been trying to log onto find my iphone for a while and not recognizing the number trying to access the account she needed me to verify the number. Anyway she believed it was stolen because she “didn’t have it out”.  So luckily one of her friends was able to login onto find my iphone on her phone and they were able to track Megan’s phone throughout the high school. Sammy, Megan’s friend texted me that they then turned the map over to the principal and the janitor to locate the phone.

Not hearing anything back as to if they were able to find Megan’s phone using the app I waited and waited.  I finally got a text from Megan’s phone “I found my phone nevermind.”  no details, nothing.

Turns out Megan had left her phone somewhere and her friend had picked it up intending to give it to her the next time they saw each other.

love this kid. Thank goodness for good friends and savvy teenagers.

Sometimes I’m a bad mom

Today Pere was doing his own thing. Lately he’s been pushing the boundaries with not following directions. Today he was especially working it. Finally I got after him while we were practicing violin and said “knock it off Bubba!”. He promptly turned an puked all over the floor.  So yeah. He’s sick. He’s been sleeping since then.  Not my greatest moment as a mom.

Traps

So I asked mom what she would do if someone threw something at her and she said that she would pick it up and throw it back. Then I told her that i did the same thing and that I got in trouble at school. My friend had thrown an eraser at me and i threw it back and it the filing cabinet and made a big thunk. So I got in trouble and was sent to a different seat. Then I tried to throw it away and it hit the desk and made a big thunk. Then I was threatened to be sent to the office. So I was in the “hot” seat for the rest of class and tried erfv not to screw up again.

Sometimes I worry about my kids

So Breezy and Bubba decided to put on a play yesterday for us. They put up signs all over the house and designated a time for us to sit and watch them. They called it “Pretend Yoga”.  This in and of itself set off alarms of “Oh no what did they do”.  Yeah just yeah. What ensued was beyond hysterical. Breezy came down in white tights, he ballet skirt and a white sweater. Bubba came down in white tights, shorts, and a white sweater. They both had hot pink bands over their head and hands. Wow, just wow is all I can say. They are awesomely hysterical.

Talkers

My children have taken after me. They talk. And when I say talk I mean they talk incessantly. This is typical of most children. Mine however have to interact. Meaning they require actual conversation with legit answers, not just grunts or um hmms.  This is good considering it means that they expect me to no phone in my conversations with them. It is also bad when all 4 of them want mommy conversation time.  Yesterday the kids, Bubba especially needed extra loving conversation time.  My brain however reached a limit. It was like I could feel my brain turn on for conversation and then relax. I was very very glad for Breezy’s play yesterday because it meant my brain could turn off for a bit.  Poor sweet chatty things. If you every really want to know what a 5 year old is thinking I can hook you up with Bubba. He literally has stream of consciousness all the time. 😀

Bugz

Last night Breezy had her 2nd grade play. This thing has been a PRODUCTION.  Somehow I got roped into making costumes. 30 ladybug costumes and 7 lightning bug costumes. I must say while doing the non sewing part of the costumes was tedius it sure gave me a sewing bug (hee hee). I want to quilt now.

Anywho, the production. It was so cute! Breezy was a lightning bug and got to dance around with a flash light. She had some seriously great expressions. I love this child she can make the silliest faces just by raising her eyebrows.

The teachers did a fantastic job putting things together and everyone worked really hard. It was a pleasure to watch.
