Image

Favorite song: 2nd Verse to ‘A Child’s Prayer and Christmas hymns (Silent Night, O Holy Night)

Favorite thing to do: Be held

Favorite food: Milk

Longest sleep: 5 ½ hours

New tricks: Eat and breath at the same time

Our Sweet little Baby Boy,
Although month two started down, it ended up. You were able to come off the ventilator just a 5 ½ days after being re-intubated. You were so much stronger this time. A few days later, your occupational therapist started working with you on bottle feeding; you were slow at first but you could do it. You even occasional will breastfeed again for a few minutes much to mommy’s delight. All your nurses love to come in a take turns holding you. You are officially the miracle baby of the PICU. You also had brain surgery to put in a reservoir. Hopefully it will help your brain catch back up with reabsorbing your CSF. You are working on your physical therapy and can hold your head up like a newborn again. You also gave us the best Christmas gift ever by coming home that morning. We love having you home again and having our family be whole again. You have also decided that you should never ever be put down if it’s daytime and we’re obliging. Your big sister still loves to point out your eyes. Can’t wait to show you how much fun life is little man. It’s so much better than you realize.

Love,
Mom and Dad

Little Man One Month

Image

Weight: 8lb 6oz (when your kidney’s work right)

Favorite song: 2nd Verse to ‘A Child’s Prayer and Christmas hymns (Silent Night, O Holy Night)

Favorite thing to do: Snuggle and Sleep and prove the doctors wrong

Favorite food: Milk

Longest sleep: 4 hours … unless we count the hospital sedation then you go for days

New tricks: You could do tummy push-ups and hold your head up for over 30 seconds at four days. Once in the hospital we would say breathing on your own, sucking/swallowing.

Our Sweet Little Baby Boy,

Welcome to life and to our family! Your little sister loves having a real baby ‘doll’ at home, she especially loves your eyes. You love to sleep with your hands up by your face just like your sister did but instead of wiggling your arms out of your swaddle like her, you wiggle your arms out of your sleeves to get them up near your chin. And for the record, your cry sounds like a car alarm, a very very cute car alarm.

What an adventure your life has been thus far. We rushed you into urgent care at 15 days old thinking you were just having newborn feeding problems. Little man, it turns out you were much sicker than we realized, even your doctors. You are a very special baby, little man; you got sick from a bacteria that you shouldn’t have and had to fight to continue your life here on earth. We have learned that you are a fighter little man and stubborn to the core. We have no doubt you chose to stay with our family and we are so glad and grateful you did. I’m so sorry, your life has been so rough. It was wonderful to get to hold you again and hear your cry, no matter how faint for two days. We are so proud of you that you could breathe on your own! I’m so sorry you had to welcome in your one month birthday with a code blue and had to be ventilated and sedated again. No more methadone in your future!

We love you little guy! I can’t wait to have you extubated again so that we may hold you once more.

Love,

Mom and Dad

Newborn Photos

A friend came over and took pictures of Ladybug for us when she was about two weeks old. Of course she wouldn’t cooperate and sleep but that’s okay cause they are still such cute pictures. I never ended up sending out birth announcements due to the computer virus. This will be the closest we get to that.

First Attempt to Church

We attempted to go to church when Ladybug was about three weeks old. Yea….

Image

The first picture is Ladybug all ready to go in a dress that just engulfed her (it said 0-3).
The second picture is about ten minutes later

We made it the next week but I'm a terrible mom and forgot to take a picture.

Ladybug at Five Months

So I kind of took too long to do this one and can’t fully remember all the answers to a tee

Weight: Somewhere in the 15 range

Favorite song: Not sure there is one

Favorite Show: Little Einsteins

Favorite thing to do: Sip water, bath/pool splash, jump

Favorite food: Pumpkin and carrots

Longest sleep: can’t remember but this was more of a sleep regression stage for you

New tricks: Baby push-ups
Ladybug,
Five months came so fast. You are absolutely loving all your solid foods. We haven’t found one you don’t like yet and yes that includes all your green vegetables. You are a messy eater, despite our best efforts, so you eat in a diaper. Seriously, even though you eat well, you manage to get it on your hands and then boom it’s everywhere else. You have also started having sips of water from a glass at meal time and now every time mom and dad have a glass, you want a sip too.
We’re working on your sitting up but still not quite there. We also have plenty of tummy time as you are starting to work towards figuring out how to crawl. I can’t keep you on your back anymore. You roll to your tummy every time. Funny thing is, you have forgotten how to roll back. You like to watch ‘Little Einsteins’ on TV for a few minutes. Mommy and you have been going to the pool a lot and consequently you have developed the cutest little tan lines. You like the pool and kickin
g your feet or twirling around in circles with mommy.
You discovered the funniest thing. You started scrunching up your nose and breathing heavy from it, almost like you’re going to do the pig noise. This amuses you so much, especially when we do it back. You have made me aware of how much I take my body and all it can do for granted.
Bailey is starting to try and play with you more. She has brought you her ball to throw a few times. Someday you will pick it up and throw it for her but for now it goes right to your mouth. You smile when we come home and she is so excited to see us. You even reach out and try to pet her and she tries to play with you as well.

We love you so much,
Mom and Dad
