Beliefs of an almost 2 Year Old Little Girl....

ImageZoey is almost 2. I can't actually believe that it's been two years since this kid joined our family.  Her birthday party is tomorrow so there will be a post about all the festivities.  Her actual birthday is Monday and I'm not sure, but I think we'll still do something kind of fun for her that day too.  Zoey keeps us on our toes.  She is the most cuddly, sweet and caring little toddler!  Here are a list of things that from what I've observed, she believes to be absolutely true:

I believe that lipstick is called "lip"
I believe that if I wake up at night I should be immediately taken to my parent's bed.
I believe that if I yell, "Back" loud enough and long enough, whatever I want will show up.
I believe that all food should be dipped.  Dipped in milk, ketchup, ranch dressing, anything.
I believe that I should still drink a bottle at nap time and bed time.
I believe that there should never be closed doors.
I believe that if you tell me are I am going to nursery, it's a bad thing.
I believe that if you tell me I am going to see my friends at church, I'll love it.
I believe that running from my mom when she's trying to dress me is the best way to get exercise.
I believe that getting my hair done is really just daily torture.
I believe that whenever daddy is not home he is, "werking."
I believe that if I even see the PlayDough, I should be playing with it.
I believe that whenever the wind blows it is going to make a really loud noise just like it did when we had the really BIG wind storm.
I believe that toothpaste is really finger paint.
I believe that if you ask for a kiss, I must kiss you!
I believe that if there is ever a problem is because Abby has pushed me. (Not true very often)
I believe that Barney is the BEST show ever!
I believe that Team Umizumi and Bubble Guppies are a close second and third.
I believe that I will turn three on Monday.
I believe that nap time should start being optional.
I believe that I can swim like a fish in the bathtub.
I believe when I'm tired that if I say, "bankie, bobbie" it means put me in my bed.
I believe my pink "bankie" is the best thing ever!
I believe I am a great little mama to all my dolls.
I believe in helping clean up. (she's really great at.  Seriously.)
I believe I know the words to most songs and I will sing them - loudly!

We have a pet!

Abby has wanted a pet for so long. We aren't exactly pet people - we tried to have a pet and it didn't end so well. We decided that Goldfish were right up our alley.  My friend Ainsley gave Abby the most darling pink fish tank and we headed to Petco to pick out some fish.  We ended up with these two fish:

Abby named them Cupid and Bosco.  I can't even tell he difference between the two, but Abby can.  The first night we had them I was worried they would die.  I mean they are Goldfish after all.  In the morning she ran straight from her bed to check on the fish.  Upon finding them alive and well she screamed, "They're alive!  They didn't die! Mom, they are so alive!"  It was funny.

So far, they are pretty fascinating.

Zoey's first haircut!

You read that correctly.  I just barely let anyone with scissors cut my baby's hair.  She has been diligently growing this wicked head of hair for more than 2 years - I am counting a few months in the womb, considering she practically had a ponytail when she was born.
Image
It needed to be trimmed and evened up.  She had some really long parts and then others that were pretty short.  All I let Becky do was even it up a little.  I kept telling her to be careful.  Becky has been cutting all our hair for forever, I trust her, but people with scissors.......   I don't really have an after shot because it looks pretty much the same other than it falls evenly in the back.  Her hair has great body and some curl.  It's dang darling.

Thanks Becky!  We love ya!

Abby got her hair trimmed that day too and also got a feather added for her birthday.  This is a before shot of her hair. It pretty much touched her bum.  If she bent over backwards, it touched the back of her knees.

Abby's 5th Birthday!

Abby is FIVE!
Image
It has happened....the birthday event of the season.  Well, maybe not the 'event of the season', but it was pretty fun.  We had a birthday party for Abby on the 8th (the day before her birthday) with friends and family.  The party had a general 'Pink' theme and it was so fun. We did have four boys at the party and they were super good sports.

Zoey and Abby getting ready for the party.  Zoey was really excited and held her own with all those big kids. She made a necklace, ate her cupcake and played duck duck goose so perfectly.  This was all good practice for her birthday in 9 days.

Abby O., Ellie, Ashton, Abby, Holly and Roman.  Each kid decorated their own pink cupcake with pink frosting and pink sprinkles.
Image
Josh, Cooper, Cayley, Grandma, Zoey, Rachel, and Grace.  Each kid also made their own beaded necklace.  They all turned out so cute.  I did measure the length of the strings too short.  I didn't really take into account the head circumference of children.

Getting ready to blow out the candles.  I got all five of them lit and told the kids that it was only Abby's turn to blow them out and she just blew them out without our singing.  After I got them re-lit and we sang a lovely birthday song, she got to blow them out again.

Opening presents with her friends.  It was quite an ordeal, as I have come to find out, it always is. I sat there to try and control the chaos, but it was futile attempt.

The treat bags that had homemade pink playdough, bubbles, treats, bracelets for the girls and army men for the boys.

The next morning, was her real birthday.  Again, the date on the camera is wrong.  I promise it really was the 9th.  She got to open all her presents from Ned and me.  She couldn't even eat breakfast until they were open.  She was really grateful for everything she got.
Image
Then it was time for preschool where she was going to be the line leader and got to take a treat.  I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting.  They had the same swirlys on them as the cake did.  I thought they looked darling.  The picture doesn't really do them justice.
Image
She's got her birthday shirt on, and a necklace that was a gift and you can't see it, but she got a feather in her hair the other day and she was so proud to show it off.

After preschool, we went to Sandy's for dinner.  Sherry was there and she made sure that everyone fussed over Abby.  Everyone kept coming and telling her 'Happy Birthday' and then they brought her this giant bowl of ice cream with five flaming candles.  They sang "Happy Birthday" and then she blew the candles out again.  It was the perfect end to the birthday celebrations.

We have spent the last day and half playing with the new toys, watching the movies and playing the games. Sherry gave Abby a Caboodle with make-up in it, so today I got a total make over complete with blue eyeliner.  She is a very imaginative and creative child and is having a blast with her new things.  We are so blessed to have Abby in our family.  She is such a joy to be around.  She has grown and learned so much in the last year and I love watching her progress.  We love you so much Abby!  Happy Birthday!!
