Hi there, I’m contacting you on behalf of The National Lottery Good Causes, to tell you about the reinvigorated art of millwrighting – maintaining and restoring windmills. As this event is resurrecting the dying art of millwrighting and benefitting the area of Norwich I thought the event might be of interest to some members of http://community.livejournal.com/norwich/ and we would also love to generate some debate around our news! Millwrighting was a dying profession until the Lottery-funded Broads Authority Bursary scheme set out to find apprentices to learn traditional skills from the last remaining millwrights in the area. Now a new generation of millwrights are well on their way to helping to restore some of the Broads most beautiful landmarks. To celebrate, the millwrights are putting some finishing touches to picturesque Polkey’s Mill near Reedham Ferry, Norfolk, with the temporary addition of some giant Lottery balls! Check out the photos at www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/rollingout/gallery Since 1994, The National Lottery has invested over £2 million to restore 16 windmills across the East of England and an additional £7 million of Lottery money has funded a bursary programme, which has revitalised traditional skills across the UK from sedge cutting to millwrighting. There will also be a video of the event available on YouTube in the next couple of days – www.youtube.com/lotterygoodcauses Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. Many thanks, Adam, on behalf of National Lottery Good Causes

This afternoon, I was caught on camera by the Google Maps Car as I drove past it in Norwich! (Ber Street)
Wonder how long they will process it until being made public on their website due to this:

Anyone got caught by Google Maps Car?
The very same car that I saw!

Hi, I'm looking to rent a room in the city and just wondered if there are any 'alternative' house holds looking for a new housemate at the moment?
If anyone knows of anyone looking for someone to rent a room too please get in touch :-)
Thanks x

I hope posting this advert is OK. I made it myself for a lovely shop that was opened back in august. I was just wondering how many of you shop in independant shops for things for your home and how many of you just go to departments stores/chains like primark because it is easy and you think it will be cheaper.

How would you like to hear about shops like this one? Leaflets Adverts in the Newspaper Big adverts/posterboards in car parks/evening venues Other ways??
It's just really sad that businesses down less-trod streets struggle to survive. Thoughts?

We're at it again! Come down and join us for some quality music and mischief-making. And if you're new on campus or just want to start the night early, we are running a pubcrawl too. Meet up in the Union Bar at seven because we'll be leaving from the bus stop at half seven. Just look for the crowd of misfits in black. And probably a loud Canadian.Sorry, but x-posted for maximum publicity.

I was in the city yesterday and found an alternative clothing sale on at St Gregories. Apparently it will be there every week. I got a fab leather coat for £15 and nearly bought a matching purple jacket to go with my purple flares.
I don't think they are advertising it much, so grab a bargain while you can
That is all

oops sorry Clem. Sale is one every saturday. x x

Morning all. I am the olde events organiser for the Deviant Society. For those of you who don't know, Deviant is the alternative music society at the university. We cater for fans of rock, metal, industrial, emo, punk and anything alternative basically.
Anyway, I am just settling down to write our yearly Freshers' Guide. This gets handed out to all new Deviant members at the societies fair, which is one of the main events for freshers. We usually get around one hundred new members each year.
What I am looking for is information on any gigs happening in Norwich between late September and Christmas. The aim of obtaining this information is to include it all in the guide and give our new members as much help as possible in finding gigs that they would like to go to!
The gig listings aren't actually limited to gigs, so if you run a regular (or not so regular) club night, and can let me know the details, I will put that in there as well, as long as it's relevant. And if we get enough interest in a particular night, we may even put on a pubcrawl. That means loads of publicity, and all you have to do is leave a comment with the name of the night or the bands that are playing, the venue and the date.
Thanks to anyone who can help!
(x-posted sorry!)

Does anyone know what the Mad Moose (just off Unthank Road) was called before it was the Mad Moose? It changed its name about 6 years ago.
Thanks Sam x
X posted to ease my troubled mind.

Guys,
I know this is a bit of a spam, but one of my best mates, Andy, is in the final four for 'Broadlands Got Talent', through Radio Broadland.
He is a fantastic singer and guitarist, as well as a really great guy, so I need you all to help to make his dream come a little bit closer to reality!
Just go to www.radiobroadland.co.uk and click on 'Broadlands Got Talent', then vote for 'Andy'... DO IT NOW, it'll only take a second!
Thank you all in advance!
