As per my usual rules, finished fics only (if fic is part of a series the series might still be a wip). I know some of you specifically love wips so there will be a post for wip only later.

Challenge #3

In your own space, put some favorite characters into an AU, fuse some favorite canons together, talk about your favorite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren’t your cup of tea. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So, funny story. While I like AUs a lot I am not much into fusions? Because if you mush two different things together they come with different rules for magic etc and idk. Also I remember when there was a phase where evvvvery fandom had a Hogwarts fusion? :/

However, AU, yes gimme! I like them all, the small "what if this one thing were different" AU, or the really big ones like everyone is mundane AU such as the Coffeeshop AU, the Highschool AU. I like fairytale AU, ice skating AU, Vampires and/or Werewolves AU, you name it.

I originally planned todo a little drabble for this challenge but my mind is completely empty right now. I don't even know which fandom, which character. I may revisit this later. Feel free to leave prompts ;)

I am behind and doing things out of order, but I did manage to update my intro post, so that totally counts, yay! https://novembermond.dreamwidth.org/486413.html

well, hello there. I originally didn't make any new years resolutions, because *broad gesture at the world*. But in the last couple days I was like, maybe I do wanna do more fannish things again and maybe I should check dw. and then I saw the Snowflake Challenge going on on your journals and I was like, oh right it's January already! Huh.

Challenge #2

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I want to do fannish things again as I feel that in the last year I became very passive. I want to do some rec lists again, maybe write a thing. I also want to try and do more things irl, like go to a ren faire/medieval thingy, go meet fannish people, do shit! This used to be so much easier when I was still into anime and japanese stuff (and also simply because I was younger and had no job or less hours). But these things don't happen on their own so I must make an effort. However, not right now because *broad gesture at the current world*. So the meeting people thing can wait and in the mean time... write a thing? rec some stuff?
novembermond: (Hela)

and by watched I mean disney+ or netflix, mainly, not youtube, haha.

Shadow and Bone: I do not know the source material but I loved this series. I had a lot of fun watching the criminals mostly. But my favorite part is the set design. I love all the buildings. I've never felt so much like a fantasy story was happening right in my backyard.

WandaVision: This was something completely different and I really loved that. Of course I also love old sitcoms, so this was it for me. And Kathryn Hahn is godly.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier: ah, well. After seeing WandaVision this was kind of a slog to get through tbh. It had no real structure I feel like it was meandering about. The politics were so clunky I found it hard to watch. Tbh I feel like the script was a good first draft but someone should have looked that over again before filming it? On the plus side there same some nice fan service - I am the sort of person t read the hell out of "Bucky has to pretend to be the Winter Soldier again and obey any order given by bad guy #43 (in this case, Zemo)." Fic recs are welcome ;)

Loki: while there's obvs only 1 ep out so far so it's not yet fair to compare to the other series I already saw fully, but I really liked what we saw so far. While the plot is different it takes clear inspiration from the Agent Loki era in the comics which I always thought was written with Hiddleston in mind anyway. Since Hiddleston is also a producer and he is protective of the character I do hope the clusterfuck doesn't get too bad. I plan to give the Loki series it's own post later on as I want to keep this etry spoiler free. I was sceptical about the casting of Owen Wilson but he was great.

As I was already on Disney+ I started watching Duck Tales! I grew up with the old series, it was probably the thing I watched the absolute most of as a kid. I love that they kept the title song! I'm not through yet but I love it so far it's a great update.

I started and dropped after one episode both Twelve Monkeys and Swamp Thing. I kept commenting about the lack of proper mask wearing and annoyed myself (both series start out with a virus premise and both were shot pre-pandemic).

Riverdale: I am now caught up with all eps again and all I can say is shine on you crazy diamond. I don't knowhow they keep getting wackier, but it's amazing. Although it had exactly one realistical plot in this season: when they graduate and promise to keep seeing each other and then just... don't.

American Gods: production troubles personified. I don't know if there will be a S4? They finally got through most of the plot of the original book. Otoh it lacks the final chapter, so if they end it now, it ends badly. But there is not enough plot left for another season (unless they pull a season 2 again which sucked ass).

I probably also watched a ton of movies that I can't remember right now? I finally got around to seeing the Vvitch which I loved! I also saw the Old Guard which should have been a mini series instead of a single movie imo.

What did you see lately? Any fic recs for Falcon&Winter Soldier or Loki?
novembermond: crawly and aziraphale (Default)
my previous witcher fanfic recs, mainly Geralt/Jaskier, can be found here.

I have since branched out a little. Under the cut you will find Geralt/Jaskier, Geralt/Emhyr, some Geralt/Eskel (side pairing) and one x-over with Castlevania. :D

Hi everybody! I have been on a big Witcher fanfic spree the last couple of weeks and now you get to profit from that by way of recs. Main pairing will usually be Geralt/Jaskier, but there may be some others as well.

As ususal I prefer to slap the ao3 headers down there because personally I want to see the tags etc when reading recs. Sorry if that's not your cup o tea. Anyway that makes for a longish post so it's behind a cut. My notes a re marked with ///

In your own space, Talk about Your Snowflake Experience. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I did it! I participated in every single challenge this year!!! I've done Snowflake before but I never did all of the challenges. I'm really proud of myself. Of course, being stuck at home might have something to do with it...

Some challenges were easy, others pushed me out of my comfort zone but none were impossible. I'm really glad I at least tried my hand at every single one. It gave me something to do and something to think about and concentrate on, which I guess I needed this season. It also got me to create a little bit and I haven't done that at all in 2020. So that's good. The one thing I should have been better at was commenting on other people's posts. I'll try to do that more.

I want to thank everybody who commented because you made my day(s).

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Alright so today I want to talk about a different fandom: the sims!

I'm waiting for Sims4 Paranormal Stuff (with BONEHILDA) being released. it's supposed to come out today but it's not out yet. :( Hence me writing about Sims today.

I have been playing the sims on and off since 2004. But playing it is only half the fun. the other half is seeing what other do with the game, challenges, mods etc. So here are some resources (sadly many of the links I collected over the years are defunct):

graphic rules maker this helps getting sims2 to run properly on newer computers.

stop purple soup a google doc trouble shooting if your sims2 game flashes purple

garden of shadows an old school forum where I used to get most of my cc from. still active.

mod the sims probably the source on anything sims related. still active.

[community profile] sims2defaults as the name implies, lots of default for sims2. defaults is now my favorite way of customizing.

and now, some youtube content:

plumbella is a great resource for anyhting sims. she not only has reviews for everything that comes out (other yt'ers do that also) she has videos on every single sims release ever from sims 1 to 4 and medieval and the console games. she is also a self proclaimed ho for lore and does a "the entire history of" series.

lilsimsie is amazing for house builds. but has also stuff like that:

this is the first time I see a sims4 video catching the chaotic energy of sims2.

juno birch is not only the loveliest alien drag queen on earth, she also captures the experience of sims2 so well.

In your own space, resurrect an old meme. Have fun with it! Which is the goofiest meme you can think of? Put on your party hat and be silly!! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

oh, boy.
this dw also includes my old lj so theres a few years to sfit through and I noticed that I have entries tagged "meme" in 2019 and then the next oldest from 2013.

So here's one from like 2009, redone as the site still exists:

I fell behind again, but I made it up to ten! Challenge 11 asks for a fanwork and I know I should have expected that but I forgot and so that one will take a while...

by the way in a previous challenge I said I was gonna get a gaming chair. I have since found out if you search for "boss" chairs you can find similar things, but cheaper. I got one and it's amazing. Also it's two shades of blue and comes with two pillows the only thing that made it not a gaming chair was the price tag XD

Challenge #10

In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, creator, episode, or it could be your fandom friends. Share your love and squee as loud as you want to. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Dear fandom!

I love that you are always here.
You are here when I'm bored or sad or happy.
You are here when I need to squee over a thing.
You have the slow burn fics and the pwp, the kink and the fluff.
You have the AUs and the what ifs and fix-it fics for when canon goes south.
You have the big bangs and the drabbles.
There always people around if you want to talk. And if you don't want to talk, that's okay as well.
I want to thank every single person reading this for making fandom this wonderful space.

Challenge #8

In your own space, create a wishlist. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1. Alright! If someone who does icons reads this, I am a huge Addams Family fan and I have no icons! :( And by this I don't just mean the movies from the nineties. I like those yes, but also the tv series from the sixties! (BTW I also love the Munsters.) Fun little tidbit about me you probably didn't know: I have a bust of Uncle Fester in my living room.

2. Other than that, as you can tell from my last few entries I love Crowley and Aziraphale, especially in historical setting. If someone felt inspired and wanted to write some fic for that... *eyebrow wiggle*

3. And lastly, my fic reading in 2020 was mostly working on my "marked for later" list on ao3. This had the effect that I have not checked what was newly released. If you have a fic rec for any of the following fandoms for mindblowingly good fics posted on ao3 in 2020 or 2021, kindly throw them my way. My fandoms, in no particular order:

Good Omens
Thor
the Witcher
Harry Potter (Harry/Draco only)
Hannibal
Venom
Captain America

Challenge #7

In your own space, create your own challenge. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So, now I know what my challenge must be: participate in every single challenge of Snowflake this month! Snowflake challenge is a low stakes, very chill thing, you do not have to do every entry and you have as much time as you want. This always results in me dropping off at some point. So this time I will try my best to do every single one, no matter how hard they seem.
novembermond: (winter soldier)
I have no clue what to do for the 7th challenge of Snowflake. I need thinking time.

So meanwhile, I thought in case someone might be interested I'd point out that sign up for Trope Bingo is currently open: https://trope-bingo.dreamwidth.org/274531.html

I have no intention of signing up myself, currently, but I do so love looking at the bingo cards.

Challenge #5

In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I want to recommend Good Omens to everyone who has not seen/read it yet. It's one of my feel-good fandoms, and sometimes you need one of those. I liked the mini series a lot; I think thy did Aziraphale and Crowley justice, their scenes are great. On my third Good Omens rewatch I onl watched their scenes. XD My favorite scene in the mini series is when they meet up in medieval times "fomenting".
Fandomwise they are OTP and it's so much fun because you can place them at any point in human history or you can do more of a heaven/hell sort of story or you can just go slice of life.

Challenge #4

In your own space, create some goals. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Alright! *cracks knuckles*

So, one goal should be to participate in [community profile] crackthewip and this means actually finishing a fic I have started. to tackle this, I feel like I should also make a plan of which scenes I want to add to consider it complete and what other events that happen in the story should be just mentioned and not shown. If anyone else has WIPs lying about I recommend checking the comm out. :)

The other goal is to finally admit that sitting on dining chairs is not good for my posture or my butt and get a good gaming chair that does not break the bank.

And honestly I think that's enough goals for an uncertain year.
novembermond: (Miles unsure)
Still on track! #2 did not require an entry so I did not make one but I did it. So we're already at #3!

Unrelated but my new keyboard arrived today an I keep hitting the wrong keys. my old one was spaced differently and also so worn out you barely neeeded to touch anything. so please excuse any typing mistakes. :(

Challenge #3: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

In your own space, tell us who, from one of your fandoms, would you most want to have dinner with (or tea, or a random afternoon visit), And why? This could be a creator, an actor, a costumer, a set designer, a director, a character, a composer, anybody! What would you talk about? What are you dying to know? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

oh wow, this one made me freeze at the title. XD do I need to prepare food? hlep! but onto an answer I think it would be fun to hang with actor Sebastian Stan? He seems like someone you'd drink a beer with. If we're talking characters I'd rather not be visited by the Winter Soldier, though. Thor, maybe.

You know I'm not the sort of person who likes to go to bars or clubbing or whatever, but right now just plain meeting people somewhere sounds magical. I don't even care who. (We're still in nationwide lockdown here)

As it is, I'm really happy to meet you guys, fellow fandom people in the snowflake challenge! Please grab a seat, take a beer or a cookie and tell me about your day!

Challenge #1

In your own space, introduce yourself! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Hi everybody, it's me, incorrigible Thor/Loki fan! I really really hoping the new Loki series will be good and there will be juicy fanfic to come of it. I loved the Agent Loki comics, so there's hope.

You can find most of my info in my intro post. I mostly do very random fic rec posts for whatever floats my boat at the time. You can check out my last rec post here.

Recently I have also posted some recipes but that was mostly for myself so I can remember my experiments. Maybe I should create a filter for that...
novembermond: Aziraphale from Good Omens smiling (aziraphale)
hello everybody!

long time, no fannish interaction on here? I was watching a lot of tv in the past year and because of work from home I spent a lot less free time on my computer because if you sit at that place all day already you really don't want to sit there even longer? So I wasn't on dw a lot, sorry about that.

2020 was, well, you know. so I want to link the stuff I've been reading and liking this year. Usually I make a rule to only link finished fics, this time it'll be WIPs and finished fics.

Fandoms included are:

Fae Tales
Good Omens (Aziraphale/Crowley)
Harry Potter (Harry/Draco)
The little Mermaid
The Witcher (Geralt/Jaskier)
Thor (Loki/Thor)
