Our award-winning Co-founder and Director, Lili, has a deep understanding of the South African mining industry and has worked on numerous transactions involving both international and local mining companies throughout South Africa, and Africa. She has extensive experience in the mining legal regulatory arena, and maintains close relationships with government, the private sector, and unions.
Mandy is a Director in our team and her primary passion is energy regulation, as well as environmental and natural resources law. She has been involved in several energy projects within the independent power producer’s procurement programmes, and private projects both within South Africa and in other African countries.
Her experience in a wide range of matters across numerous sectors makes her one of the most knowledgeable minds in the industry. Her work includes conducting due diligences and preparing environmental legal opinions and providing advice on the environmental aspects of the supporting contractual arrangements.
Minnette is a Principal Environmental Specialist and heads the Environmental Department at NSDV Law.
In the 16 years over which she’s been working, Minnette has acquired more experience and recognition in the fields of environmental management and consultancy than many of her contemporaries will enjoy in their lifetimes – all of which she brings to bear in service of her clients, large or small.
Muhammed (Moh) is an Attorney in our Environmental and Mining Law Department and combines his regulatory experience with experience in negotiating, drafting and reviewing various complex commercial contracts.
He has extensively engaged with various governmental departments including the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), the Petroleum Agency of South Africa and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa. This engagement included drafting various applications under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and the Gas Act.
Luca Maraschin is a Director in NSDV Law’s Environmental and Mining Law Department. He has experience in a wide range of regulatory matters across several sectors, including mining, oil & gas, renewable energy, and conservation.
He has experience in both civil and criminal environmental law matters before the High Court. And he has conducted environmental legal due diligence and assisted in safety and health, and environmental legal compliance audits.
Robin is a Senior Associate in the Mining and Environmental Law team. She completed her BSocSc Law and LLB at the University of Cape Town, and is currently completing her LLM in Environmental Law at the University of Pretoria.
Robin has advised on a range of environmental and regulatory matters across the energy, industrial and mining sectors. Some of her work includes assisting clients with conducting due diligence investigations on renewable energy projects and preparing environmental legal opinions for these projects. She has also prepared legal opinions on renewable energy certificates and environmental attributes.
Tamia is an Associate in the Mining, Energy and Environmental Law Department. She completed her BA Law and LLB degrees at the University of Cape Town and has recently completed the Environmental Law and Sustainability I course offered by the University of Witwatersrand.
Tamia’s interest in mining and energy law lies in their dynamic nature and their critical role in shaping South Africa’s economic and environmental landscape. She is driven by the challenge of navigating complex regulatory frameworks to help clients achieve commercially sound and sustainable outcomes.
Trevana is an Associate in the Mining and Environmental law team. She obtained her BA in Law and LLB from Wits University. Driven by her passion for environmental law, she further pursued an LLM in Environmental Law at UCT. During her final year of both the LLB and LLM programs, she worked as an Executive Legal Assistant at a law firm, where she gained valuable practical experience in various areas of law.
