Our Journey

Building a Stronger Sector Together

Since its inception in 1996, OASIS has been a driving force in the developmental services sector. What began as a coalition of six agencies has grown into a province-wide network representing over 180 organizations. From advocating for policy changes to fostering collaboration, OASIS has been at the forefront of creating meaningful change for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Strategic Planning

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Developmental Services

At OASIS, strategic planning is more than a roadmap—it’s a collaborative process that leverages evidence, practice-based theories, and the voices of our members and stakeholders. Over the past two plans (2018–2020, 2022–2024), we transformed from a volunteer-run coalition to a professionally managed association. Now, we are charting the next stage of our journey—one that prioritizes the most critical challenges and opportunities in the developmental services (DS) sector.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI):

Advancing Equity for People with Developmental Disabilities

At OASIS, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are not just guiding principles—they are imperatives. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are an equity-deserving population. Their life circumstances often heighten vulnerability, leading to overrepresentation in marginalized groups, poorer outcomes than the general population, and systemic barriers that limit access and opportunity.

Why This Matters

Image

Overrepresentation in Vulnerable Populations

People with developmental disabilities are disproportionately impacted by poverty, homelessness, unemployment, human trafficking and involvement in justice and child welfare systems.

Image

Worse Outcomes

Health disparities, exclusion from education and employment, and social isolation are all too common.
Image

Barriers to Access

From inaccessible environments to inadequate policies, barriers restrict opportunities for full participation in society.

Our Commitment to Change

Strategic Priorities & Goals
