Time for some boring, utmost boring garden pics.

Pomelo. Our first pomelo. I dared to pick it up yesterday.

And it was so light, I was pretty sure that it had been hanging far

too long in that tiny pomelo tree. Maybe it was already dry?

On the contrary! This morning we enjoyed these halves.

So tasty, a bit bitter, very juicy - just perfect!

And guess what? There are two more pomelos hanging there,

in this "tree" which is now many 80cm tall, after all these years.

Well, the grayest day this year, 26.12. This 2020.

But hey, now I found a treasure beach! Full of shells!

They are everywhere.

My walking speed matches the speed of the snails, I'd say.

But picking up shells is good exercise, I'd say.

Well, pre xmas weeks were really nice and sunny.

A few clouds make the evening skies more interesting.

Let's see if those seeds feel themselves home in my garden, too.

as I finally managed to buy a glassbottle cutter.

I tell you, it is not so easy to get the perfect cut.

Actually, have to practice even more. So, let's buy 

some more wine!

And guess which colour my jacket is?

Kind of artistic, kind of.

In Finland we say "olisinpa kärpäsenä katossa",

wish I were a fly in the ceiling (?) when we'd like to

hear what's going on somewhere.

Well, this fly made it better, was following our virtual

meeting just on the table cloth. How cool.

Porcella or porcelleta, anyways the delicious suckling pig.

Germans call it Spanferkel.

The Majorcan porcelleta is special as the pigs here are black.

The Rancho Grande is famous for its black pigs and one of the biggest 

black Pig farmers on the whole Mallorca.

Die felsigen Landzungen zu beiden Seiten der Bucht sind ein attraktives 

Schnorchelrevier. Wellengang gibt es dank der geschützten Lage kaum 

und die Sicht unter der Wasseroberfläche ist hervorragend.

Wir müssen wohl im Sommer einige Buchten besuchen.

Jupiter and Saturn were situated. It was too early to see any stars.

Of course, I missed the great conjunction on 21.12. but ...

in 20 years again we can see them meet.

Jupiter is brighter than any star. Saturn isn’t as bright as Jupiter, but it’s as 

bright as the brightest stars and shines with a distinctly golden color. 

Saturn is just to the east of Jupiter on the sky’s dome. The two are noticeable 

for their brightness and nearness to each other.

Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions happen every 20 years; the last one was 

in the year 2000. But these conjunctions aren’t all created equal. The 2020 

great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn will be the closest since 1623 and 

the closest observable since 1226! 2020’s extra-close Jupiter-Saturn 

conjunction won’t be matched again until the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction 

of March 15, 2080.

Weihnachtsmarkt?

Ja, ja, habe die Werbung gesehen, es gäbe Weihnachtsmarkt 

in Santynyí. Let's go and check!

Santanyí is famous for ... for ... for the people from Hamburg!

Hamburger Hügeln liegen da.

Und so isses, da laufen sehr viele, grosse, blonde Deutschen rum.

Der „Hamburger Hügel“ bezeichnet, grob geografisch, die Region zwischen 

dem kleinen Boheme-Dorf Cas Concos und dem Ort Santanyi. Seit den 80ern 

haben die Hanseaten den landschaftlich schönsten Teil der Insel für sich 

entdeckt und mit dem ihnen angeborenen Understatement erschlossen.

Ein Ausflug am Sonnabend zum beliebten Markt in Santanyi erinnert an ein 

Treffen am Eppendorfer Baum oder auf dem Isemarkt. Auf den vielen 

schönen Essen und Festen reihum, trifft man dieselben Freunde und Bekannten 

wie um die Alster oder in den Elbvororten.

Kaum eine angesehene Familie oder Wirtschafts-Dynastie der Hansestadt, 

die hier nicht mit ein oder zwei Häusern vertreten ist.

Til Schweigers Pizzeria ist geschlossen, also kann man auf dem

Gelände einen Weihnachtsmarkt organisieren. 

Til Schweiger hat seine Pizzerien nach seinem Esel "Henry" benannt, 

der neben vielen anderen Tieren auf seiner Finca auf Mallorca lebt.

Wohltätigkeitsorganisation HOPE Mallorca wollte Weihnachtsbäume

verkaufen, Leider kamen die Bäume nicht an, Pech.

Ehrlich gesagt, hier würde ich auch lieber Pizza essen

als Glühwein schlürfen. Wir sind auf Mallorca.

Obwohl, die Bratwurst hat gut geschmeckt.

Weil wir Kaiserwetter hatten, haben wir noch Cala Figuera besucht,

liegt ja in der Nähe von Santanyí. Ein Fischerdorf.

Seit Jahren ein beliebtes Touristenziel.

In Cala Figuera hat sich die Baleareninsel ihr ursprüngliches Gesicht bewahrt. 

Obwohl die meisten der knapp 800 Einwohner heute vom Tourismus leben, 

verdienen einige immer noch mit dem Fischfang ihren Lebensunterhalt. 

Cala Figuera erlebte einen Tourismus-Boom in den 1970er und 1980er 

Jahren. Danach ebbte das Interesse der Mallorca-Urlauber an der malerischen 

Bucht ab, was unter anderem am fehlenden Sandstrand lag. Von dieser 

Entwicklung profitieren heute Individualtouristen, die eine Ferienwohnung 

mit Blick auf das türkisfarbene Wasser mieten und das maritime Ambiente 

genießen wollen.

Once more, let's look at this Christmas tree in Artá.

The tree situation on a market day.

Today we noticed some changes. The blue barriers were taken away.

There is a rope around the tree.

And brews now decorate the rope installation.

Also note the deco balls hanging there!

It was quite amazing to see the fog rising after the sun went down.
