Meet Frankie:

He's an almost-2-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog. He's neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, and housebroken. He knows sit, stay, lay down, down, off, and come. He comes with his collar, toys, and half a bag of dog food.
This last month has been CRAZY for him. First, his owner moves from Tampa, FL to Atlantic, IA. Then they move in with a guy who is really mean to him! I don't know why he doesn't like the dog. He's a great dog. He loves kids.
His 'mommy' thought it was best to send him to ME, since I rescue, and now I have a 55lb lapdog in my 2 bedroom apartment on top of my 2 dogs (cogris), my 3 cats, 4 ferrets, my rats, my kids, and my spouse.
He'll turning two on Valentine's Day, but anyone who has met him says he's still full of puppy love. He love to run and play, but he's also a very calm dog when he needs to be. Like I mentioned before, he's already microchipped (though you'd have to switch the information over), very gentle on the leash, and loves to snuggle. If you think I sound like a good fit for your family, contact me and I'd would be happy to talk to you!

We've also got 11 male degus and 5 female degus that were LEFT ON OUR DOORSTEP about a week ago. They were all caged together, so we're not letting the girls go until we know if they're pregnant or not. These are PET ONLY critters. Adoption fee of $25 for a pair. Pictures and info here: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10009199
One last thing: 2 Russian Blue kittens, 16 weeks old. One male, one female. Both short haired. $50 adoption fee, will be waived if you amke arrangements to meet us at a vet and have littel kitty spayed/neutered. You can see them here:

I'm about to graduate from UNO at the end of December and it feels like it has been a long time since I haven't run between school and work and home. I didn't realize until recently how very structured and scheduled my days had become just trying to get everything done that needs to get done. I haven't really put any time or energy into socializing, meeting new people and trying out new places in a really long time. I am amazed at how buried by school I've felt the past couple of semesters.
So my question to all of you is two fold. 1) Where are your favorite places to hang out or places to do or see interesting things in Omaha? It doesn't have to be a bar or a place to eat, but anywhere that you really enjoy going to.
and 2) Is there anyone in a similar boat as me who hasn't gotten out much lately to meet new people and would like to? Is there any interest in a general meeting of people in Omaha who are new maybe, or just haven't met anyone new in a while who'd like to get drinks, or food, or coffee or bowling or whatever interests us?

Would you like to hear more from local news than just the latest sensational accident or arrest?
Have you ever wondered why, if Omaha has such a great music scene, you don't hear much local music on the radio?
Do you want someone besides Clear Channel to decide what kind of news and music you hear?
A community radio station can give you all this and more.
Community radio is member owned and controlled for the sole benefit of its community. Quark Collective Radio, Inc. has been formed to start a community radio station in Omaha. Because we're member owned and controlled, we need YOU to join the Collective and to help us start the station.
If you're interested in how you can help Omaha's new and only community radio station, come to our next meeting - TONIGHT:
Monday, August 27, 2007 7:00 pm McFosters Natural Kind Cafe 38th & Farnam

Legendary Rocker Ted Nugent Supports M.R.C. Promotion of May 26 Benefit Concert Includes Appearance on Z-92
OMAHA – What began as a Memorial Day fund-raiser for children who’ve lost parents to combat in Iraq and Afghanistan has caught the attention of legendary rocker Ted Nugent.
Upon learning of the May 26 benefit concert organized by Matt’s Rocket Collection, Nugent quickly agreed to not only provide signed memorabilia as raffle items, but also vocally support the event.
Nugent will join M.R.C. in promoting the event tomorrow on Z-92’s “Todd-n-Tyler Show” at 10 a.m.
Nugent also voiced promos airing on a number of Omaha radio stations.
Visit www.mattsrocketcollection.com to hear Nugent’s spirited endorsement of M.R.C.’s event this Saturday.
That’s just part of the buzz that has built for Saturday’s show, which will be held at the Velvet Lounge, 76th and Cass streets.
A number of local retailers have stepped up to show their support for this extremely worthwhile cause. Russo’s Guitar Center has donated a Fender Stratocaster guitar, which will be raffled off on Saturday. Other raffle items available at Saturday’s benefit concert include Omaha Beef tickets and Subway restaurant gift cards.
M.R.C.’s debut album, And There Was Rock, will also be available Saturday at the Velvet Lounge with proceeds going to the scholarship. Tracks include “All The People Say,” “Omaha Rock and Roll,” “Go Juice and Vodka” and the title track, “And There Was Rock.”
On Saturday M.R.C. will pull out their blistering performances of “Thunderstruck” and “Whole Lotta Rosie” as part of their AC/DC Salute to the Troops.
All donations accepted will be donated to American Legion Post #1 in Omaha, which will ensure proceeds fund college scholarships for children who’ve lost their parents serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Music fans and those looking to support the scholarship program will receive the following based on donations made at the door:
• $10 donation: one raffle ticket • $15 donation: free M.R.C. CD and one raffle ticket • $20 donation: free M.R.C. CD, a Subway gift card, 96.1 FM The Brew collectibles and one raffle ticket • $30 donation: free M.R.C. CD, Subway gift card, 96.1 FM The Brew collectibles, free Omaha Beef tickets, $5 coupon for the bar and one raffle ticket

Show Details M.R.C. will headline the May 26 fundraiser with a full night of music, songs off of their new album and a special M.R.C. AC/DC Salute to the Troops. More giveaways and a motorcycle show are part of activities earlier in the day on May 26. Visit www.mattsrocketcollection.com for more details.
Bike Poker Run The event will also include a poker run with prizes for best in show and best hand.
