SPARK for Monday

SPARK for Monday

As you all know, “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who reads it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging,  a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.    Feel free to join us even if this isn’t a Blog Hop – SPARKS are fun to find and share and think about and the more the merrier.  Just post a thought on Mondays – call it your SPARK – and perhaps your “followers will follow” !

I don’t think I’m the only one who is wondering what is happening in this big world of ours lately.   So many things to think about, worry about, be pleased about……………….but sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming.   I found this SPARK while looking for one to go along with my OWN feelings right now – even if you don’t agree, you might still enjoy the thought as expressed by Albert Einstein – and he’s tough to argue with!

Hang in there.    It’s an old saying, but sometimes it comes in handy – like when you are waiting for something to happen and it seems to take longer than you want it too.    Happy week ahead everybody!   THINK POSITIVE.

Sunday Selfie Hop

Standard

Howdy!  Happy Sunday.    It’s that time again……….Selfie day.    As most of you who know me know, I am a World Class Napper and spend most of my day – every day – napping.    I love heat vents when it’s cold (and it’s only 30 here today) but I also love the Guest Room Bed………which has TWO heat vents in it and is usually quite cozy.    That’s where Mom took my Selfie for today.

The thing is, she snuck up on me and I was actually softly snoring and the second she pressed the button on the camera I woke up – no I do not look happy – I look somewhat annoyed – wouldn’t you?????    Anyway, the second she left the room I was back asleep so “no harm done” as humans like to say!

Seeing as how this photo of me has very little “interesting detail” she loaded it up in Lunapic to give it some “purrrrrsonality” !!

Here’s how it turned out when she used Lunapic’s “CONNECTIONS” art effect……………I like it actually……

We made a puzzle out of this version………….might be a challenge!

Now that that’s over – I’m back to snoozeville!  Happy Sunday!

Bakin’ With Bacon, The King AND A Guest!

Standard

Image

Greetings!   Chef Teddy from the Castle Baconia here with my returning Assistant Chef Penny for another fabulous bacon treat!

Chef Penny sure brought a wonderful recipe for us to whip up for you this week – she finds the most amazing recipes and in fact, she brought SEVERAL of them so you can expect to see her gracing our kitchen for the next several weeks!   BUT first things first – this recipe we’re making for you today is absolutely delicious.   I just know you’re going to want to make it and I also just know that you will be glad you did!!

Image

Bacon, Cheddar, Ranch Pinwheels

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp Ranch Seasoning
  • ¾ cup cheddar, shredded
  • ⅓ cup bacon pieces
  • 3 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 large flour tortillas

Instructions

  1. Chop the parsley.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese and ranch seasoning. Spread the mixture evenly over the tortillas.
  3. Then sprinkle cheese, followed by bacon pieces, and finally the chopped parsley.
  4. Toll the tortillas tightly into itself, until you meet the other end. Wrap each one separately with plastic wrap.
  5. Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until ready to serve,
  6. Once ready to serve, use a serrated bread knife to cut the tortilla rolls into one inch pieces, setting the ends aside for you to snack on.
  7. Arrange flat on a platter to serve.

Easy isn’t it!    It actually is and also you can make a LARGER BATCH if you’re having a party or company.     Recipes that allow you that kind of flexibility are HANDY to keep in your cookbook/recipe file.

Penny, you did it again – let’s eat a pile of these before you head back to your home shall we?   AND we made an extra batch so you can take them home to your Mom for letting you come to the Castle again to bake with me.

Thanks so much!

Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Standard

Image

Yay!  It’s Friday and that means filling in time.    Every Friday our two co-hosts give us some fun – sentences with blanks where we supply our own words and it’s fun to do.   This is the day.     If you want to play along, you can get the sentences from 15andmeowing by clicking the badge above.

Here’s OUR effort and as usual all three of us in my family, Mom, Dad and ME ME ME have taken turns to fill in blanks.

The key to who filled in what is here:

BLUE/MOM

RED/TEDDY

GREEN/DAD

1. I used to think I’d never get old, but I was wrong.
2. Every time I plan to clean out my side of the closet, I _makes excuses to keep everything I NEED to take to the thrift store!.
3. I’m already looking forward to the month of February because I can give my Mom a sloppy kiss for a Valentine’s present!.
4. When it comes to social media, I enjoy helping Teddy with his blog AND visiting my friends on theirs.

Yes, that’s it for us this week.    Always fun to do this together.    WE ARE FAMILY!     Thanks to our co-hosts for this weekly adventure in filling in the blanks.   It’s tons of fun!
See you next week………………….

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Image

It’s Thankful time with our buddy Angel Brian and his pawsome family.    We all have things in our lives that we SHOULD be thankful for and this day of the week is the day we share that with our friends.     This week I am thankful that my Mom is taking medication for the (as she calls it) “Creeping Crud” which our doctor says isn’t the flu and isn’t Covid but it’s just a wicked bad cold virus.    She isn’t coughing thankfully (since I sleep by her at night!), and is feeling marginally better as the days go by.    I’m also thankful that while it has looked like it was going to snow – it hasn’t.   It’s been gray skies and breezy days/nights but no snow.    YET.    I will go outside after the snow has stopped but I can’t say I’m a big fan.   Cold feet are not my “thing”.    Other than that it’s pretty quiet around here.    I approve of that for sure!      Don’t forget to share your thankfuls on the Blog Hop – you can click the badge above and go to Angel Brian’s and add your post!

Meanwhile, I have the Poetic Thursday post from Angel Sammy to share with you…………………he said he hopes some of you joined in the poetic fun based on the photo he gave us last week.    There’s a new one for NEXT week…………….

Stay warm!

Happy Poetry Day!

Hi everyone on Planet Earth!    Those of us at the Rainbow Bridge miss you every single day you know.   Just thought I’d mention that before we get to poetry time.    Speaking of that, hope you joined in the fun but if you haven’t yet – please give it a try – you CAN write a poem.  It can be short or long, rhyming or not.    It’s just FUN!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to use  as inspiration and my poem follows the photo:

“Mud Wrestling!”

Poem by Angel Sammy  ©January 14, 2026

“C’mon Maxie, let’s roll around!

You can bark and I’ll make baby sounds!”

Max the bulldog and Bobby the baby

A bathtub awaits – and we don’t mean maybe!

Well that was a short poem but when you’ve said what you want to say in few words, why drag it out??  LOL     What a fun photo that is even though of course it’s AI generated but so what.   It’s cute and made for a fun little poetic effort.    Hope you wrote one too??    Just post it in comments or tell us you wrote one and give us your link so we can see it!   Either way, we hope you enjoy getting together for a giggle on Poetic Thursdays.

Here’s next Thursday’s photo for inspiration…………………

Woo Hoo!    My Mom says she was taught the jitterbug when she was just a little girl by her older sister who needed a partner to practice dancing with!  Oh to have been a fly on the wall……………TEE HEE

See you next week?    Hope so!   Until then……….

STAY HOPEFUL and HAPPY
