UPDATED: New Friending Policy

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I am updating my policy from 2006.

This LJ has been is going Friends Only. Sorry too many snoops.  Most of my snoops have gotten tired of me locking everything and have moved onto Facebook or another fruitful hobby.  Thank goodness.

Comment to be added. Don't be offended if it takes a while or i don't recognize you right away. IF YOU DO NOT COMMENT AND JUST FRIEND ME ANYWAYS, DO NOT EXPECT TO BE FRIENDED BACK. I WILL SUSPECT YOU ARE A BOT.

When you comment, you need to say how you know me.  Don't just write: "Hi I'm lj-name. Please friend me." I will ignore you or think you are a bot.

A better way to phrase that would be "Hi.  I know you from specific lj-community or I met you the other day at a party.  Please friend me."  That way we can keep out the creepy.  The reason I'm doing this is because I'm getting a larger number of bots and people just sitting on their lj accounts with unknown reasons for friending.

Your cooperation is appreciated.

Thank you!

Signal Boost: Return of the DDoS

For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.

As I said last time, while it's frustrating not to have access, LJ is a lot more than a social network platform. From the article:

"LiveJournal isn’t just a social network. It’s also a platform for organizing civic action. Dozens of network projects and groups mobilize people to solve specific problems — from defending the rights of political prisoners to saving endangered historic architecture in Moscow."

So while I know many are considering the move over to Dreamwidth and other such sites, supporting LJ is a way we can help support those who use it for more than a writing/roleplaying/social venue.

Also, as a FYI, LJ is giving paid users effected by the outage two weeks of paid time as compensation.

"Just Kids" by Patti Smith Review

I just put up my review for Patti Smith's book "Just Kids" on GoodReads. I know some people are not going to like my review or agree with me because I didn't give it a zillion stars, but it's the truth. It's a decent book, but not something I would gush about. (I had to quickly read it because it was on hold for ages from the Library so when it finally got to my turn, I jumped it.) To be honest, the only reason I was drawn to reading the book is because I am more of a Robert Mapplethorpe fan than I was ever a Patti Smith fan. He was someone who shaped my view of art when I was a child so it's very important for me to know more about him. What I read wasn't pretty, but by golly gosh was the truth. So having my "hero" portrayed in a less than appealing light was a bit of a downer for me. And yet, I like that fact that Smith didn't embellish much.

...And oh yeah spoiler here, DON'T read this book if descriptions of dirtiness (literally trash or dirt) or lice or STDs freaks you out, because there is a lot of that stuff in the book. From the descriptions of what was in the book, I'd be afraid to visit NYC or Paris without being in a full body condom.

I just finished editing a video we shot today of my partner stretching out on a yoga ball. This is a "video cheat-sheet" for our clients who can't remember how to stretch.

Sun in my Pocket

I'm often times not overly fond of the hip-hop and rap genres but every once in a while they come up with something that is pure genius and positive.

Disappointment Thy Name is Stubbs

Sadness surrounds us. Tickets for Gogol Bordello & Fleet Foxes are sold out already. :(
And here I was thinking I was planning ahead for Fleet Foxes since they won't play for another month. I dislike that venue anyways. I think I've lost more umbrellas and been subject to more searches than any other venue I've ever been too.
