responsibly produced swag for the Elixir community
Lars Wikman, Stina Börjesson and two rascal children. We run Underjord. Lars has been active in the Elixir community since about 2017 as a consultant, open source developer and a bit of everything. Stina runs the practicalities of the company. As of the launch of this website that includes shipping.
Open Swag is another of Lars' harebrained schemes and the goal is to make sure the projects we like have a way to deliver nice shirts and assorted cool swag to their enthusiastic communities.
You can get really bad shirts, quite cheap, with little effort. I've tried and I was deeply unhappy with the result. So we make good shirts in the best way we can with kind of limited margin.
This is not going to fund your favorite project, developers are expensive, but maybe you wearing the colors will help drive adoption. Maybe it makes you happy? For Stina it is a part-time salary and for the local print-shop another good customer.
Everything is of course sold with full permissions from the project. Otherwise we'd be assholes and likely criminals.
We consider a shirt when there is a project and community that we think wants a shirt.
We only make the shirt if the project trusts us to do a good job and gives us the right to do it.
And maybe some other people also order. We gather them all up in a bundle, once a week.
This is a family operation, we don't do immediate.
We work with a local printer who we have worked with for years. They print incoming orders once a week, typically tuesdays. They've done good work for us and we can talk to them face to face.
We will pick them up after daycare drop when they are done.
We personally package and ship the shirts for the week. And then the postal service should get them to you.
If you have any problems you contact us.
Production of the shirt takes about a week from order time typically.
The postal service method of shipping we use takes highly variable time. New Zealand takes longer than within Sweden for example. We don't know exactly.
So expect more than a week. Allow several weeks typically. If you know you are in a far flung geography from Sweden it can be more.
If you are waiting for an order and are concerned, use the contact form and we can share what we know :)
Occasionally we have delays due to running out of shirt blanks, vacations or running Goatmire.
Not a question.
If you are in the US. Yes. True. We had to adjust our shipping rates to deal with our shipping provider adjusting theirs and it all boils down to tariffs.
Our shipping is entirely based on cost. We are not calculated to make a margin on shipping. We don't make cheap shirts and we don't ship in enough volume to have great pricing.
