my boys

I know blogging isn't really the "thing" much anymore...but I miss being able to look back at all of my babies and reading about the cute, funny little things they do! So today I thought I would actually post something!

Do you ever "date" your boys? I have seen numerous pins about how to "date your son" and I usually just pass them on by...this isn't because I don't love my boys, or love being with them...sometimes i feel like they don't crave "mom time" as much as my girls do....we all know that girls are drama and needy, right? When my girls want a break from the world, they tell me. Rachel will ask to go the grocery store with me or if she's feeling REALLY lucky, she will ask for the mall! Emily will curl up next to me on the couch and watch my night time shows with me in silence....she will ask me to scratch her back or paint her nails...they just let me know that they need me. My boys are different. Zach seems to spend most days with his neighborhood buddies (i still never get sick of saying that!) playing hockey or Air soft wars in the fields. He never needs help with his school work, he is just easy... I love him for that, but I wish he would open up to me. I have been thinking about him lately and trying to get to know him a little more. The other day I asked him if he wanted to go get diapers with me, and surprisingly he said "yes!" Once I got him in the car alone, he never stopped talking! I heard all about how a girl wanted to be on his basketball team at school, how being President takes away some of his recesses because they have meetings! haha! He just went on and on! He thought it was awesome that I let him get a doughnut from the bakery and he had to eat it fast so the girls wouldn't see! I realized that day that he DOES need/want me! I just have to be the one to ask for it. So my goal this year is to really "date my son" and get to know him. I can't believe that I got an orientation meeting about JR. HIGH today! Where did the time go?

Last fall all 3 boys were really into baseball. We aren't sports people, so we aren't on any official teams or anything! They had been watching Sandlot and some other old baseball movies...Well, Sam must have been paying extra close attention to every single detail, because he dressed himself (and sawyer) then he told me what drinks and bubble gum we would need to buy so we could play "real baseball" at the park! This was serious business. I knew this would be great, so i brought my camera along! I am so glad I did! I forgot all about them till today! I LOVE these boys of mine!

This might be my all time favorite picture. ever. We were walking back to the van and Sam looked right up at Zach and said, " I am a really good batter, huh?"  Every boy needs a big brother.

She turned 9

Rachel LOVES for me take her pictures every year on her birthday...it is kind of  "our thing."  This year she asked me if she could bring her guitar. She is a genius. I am bummed that i didn't double check my my camera settings ( we were trying to hurry before another freak storm came!) They aren't technically correct, but I LOVE that they show her how she is right now...at 9.

She is still a Taylor Swift freak!

She loves to dress pretty and feminine. (i love this about her)

She is learning the guitar

Grandma and Grandpa Bolton got her a "real" RED Taylor microphone and stand. (the rest of us need earplugs)

She LIVES for her best friend Lindy. Luckily we share a fence, so even when they can't play, you will find them at the fence giggling. It melts my heart.

She is BEAUTIFUL inside and out.

I hate that she is growing up, but love who she is becoming.

Arrow of Light

I swear this boy just started Cub Scouts! I remember how darn cute he looked all uniformed up and feeling so grown up on his first day! Well, he is growing older (they do that ya know) and he received his Arrow of Light! It was such a neat ceremony! His scout masters made it something special that he will always remember! it was CRAZY windy and stormy...but it didn't matter!!!

best. day ever.

According to Rachel this was THE BEST DAY EVER!!! I don't think I would go that far...but it was pretty fun! After we suffered through the FOREVER LONG preshow - it was a blast! Poor emily wanted to stay awake so badly, but she dosed off here and there! The lady in front of us couldn't believe anyone could sleep through the noise! Rachel (taylor's #1 fan) stood on her seat the entire time singing each song word for word...actions and all! The girls loved making their signs...they were hoping they would win them backstage passes! oh well, maybe next time!  Grandma and dad were troopers and came along! I think they had fun too!:)

IT WAS SUCH A FUN MORNING!

TREAT SALE FOR MARSHALL!

Image

YAY!!!!  The weather was FINALLY beautiful and perfect for a treat sale!  (sorry the pictures are terrible...full sun...YIKES!)  A few weeks ago for family night we decided to try and help raise a few bucks for our friend Marshall who is fighting cancer for the 2nd time this year! He is a young daddy who MUST survive this!!!! He is super positive and will inspire anyone he who crosses his path!

The kids made hand written fliers with their colored markers, and hand delivered them to our neighbors! It was adorable! At 10:30 this morning we had people lining up before I was even ready! IT WAS GREAT! Thank you to SO MANY who came and supported us! This world really does have some fabulous people in it!
