How it works:
Perovskite tandem technology

Record breaking efficiency. Endless possibilities.
Discover how tandem technology is lighting the way for the next generation solar.

The tandem solar cell

A tandem solar cell is simply two solar cells rolled into one. Our tandem cell is made from a thin perovskite-based cell coated directly on the front of a conventional silicon cell.

Harnessing the potential of light

Our tandem cells make much more efficient use of the light spectrum: Perovskite absorbs the higher energy blue light while silicon captures the lower energy red light, converting more of the sun’s energy into clean, renewable electricity.

Scalable production

Perovskite is synthesized from readily available and abundant materials, enough to supply over 30 TW by 2050. The perovskite solar cell is easy to manufacture using existing industrial coating processes.

Applications and products

We have turned R&D into real-world impact. Tandem solar cells are easily integrated into conventional modules and other applications, bringing the best of solar energy everywhere.

Our Roadmap

Today our tandem modules, at 25% efficiency, are already more efficient than conventional solar panels. And that’s just the beginning. By 2027 we target 27%, and 30% by 2030.
