Artemis Not as perfect as I would like or as bright, but it's a learning curve for colored pencils, lol. Something new to try! ;) This drawing of Artemis in colored pencil captures the essence of a woman in power drawing forth the spirit of the woman in charge. Have you ever felt walked on or taken advantage of? Artemis' myth reminds us of those moments to take charge and claim the huntress inside us to not be a victim. Artemis was give sacred everlasting virginity by her father so she could roam the woods as a wild huntress with her nymphs alongside her. However, one day a hunter came upon her and her nymphs bathing in a water pond and watched them fondly seeing the naked skin of Artemis in secret. However, Artemis discovered him spying on her and her nymphs and turned him into a stag to be chased off and killed by his own pack of hunting dogs. This story reminds us to not become victims in this society and yet to claim our privacy and sacred bodies as our own to give at OUR choice. She embodies freedom for the feminine and to take up arms when necessary to keep our own self image ours, unviolated, and tainted by others thoughts and opinions! Hope everyone enjoys! ;) Click on it a few times to get a bigger more detailed view. |

New Dryad work
X-Posted Begun originally in August of 2007, this surreal painting went through about five incarnations, before it evolved into the piece you see here. The word 'mind' evokes something which is an attentive supervisor, or a nanny for our impulses, and I wanted to explore the state then, of being absent minded-that which becomes detached and seperate from the process of thinking-symbolised here by a fragile egg, taking flight from a rooted muse. Called 'Nature of the Fragile Mind', I feel this is one of my strongest works, and you can bid on it by clicking the picture below: |

New Book of Shadow pages!
Okay then...I thought it well to post about my two newest pages on my website in the book of shadows page collection. The first is Bast (keep an eye out because another one is in the making and should be done by the end of winter!) and the Greek God, Helios. All pages are printed on 8.5 X 11 laser acid free paper to fit in a notebook style book of shadows. Enjoy and be sure to check out the others! www.jezebelsmuse.com |

New David Gough Art prints
x-posted Entitled ‘Theothanatos 1’ (which is Greek for Death of God) this is my latest work, wet from the studio. Painted in oils on a 16” x 20” canvas, I’ve been working on it steadily for over a month. I am so happy and proud of this piece, and It pretty much encapsulates the new direction my work is going in, and I have at least seven or eight similar themed pieces which I’m working on towards a show possibly in the fall. That said, I figured I’d float some signed prints on EBay...enjoy. 'Theothanatos 1' print auction |
