Since launching Painting Perceptions in February 2009, I’ve shared over 400 interviews, reviews, videos, and reflections, both my own and from generous contributors, often focused on painters working from observation. It’s been a privilege to spotlight both renowned artists and lesser-known but deeply compelling voices in contemporary painting, and to connect with so many readers who share a passion for modern and perceptual painting. Over the past couple of years, I’ve gradually stepped back from posting as regularly. Like many of you, I’ve had to recalibrate where I put my time and energy, especially as I focus more on my own painting and life. So, for now, Painting Perceptions will be going on an extended sabbatical. I do have ideas for the future, possibly returning in a more sustainable way, with shorter-form interviews or occasional pieces.
