So, I had a game against monolithix's Imperial Guard. It was a complete shooting bloodbath with the only declared charge being my Tau trying, and failing, to charge some guardsmen...
I am a big believer in supplements to make you faster, bigger, stronger, better! Currently I'm taking a break from the supps (cycling is supposedly recommended ;)), but I still take Maximuscle Cyclone before and after training. I have started taking Isatori H-Blocker & PWR before working out and Isatori 3-XL after weight training now.
I haven't used those three products in a while, so I am looking very much forwards to seeing if there will be any noticeable differences. I first used these products a few years ago, 2009 I think, and I did notice a considerable change in musclemass, so I am looking forwards to seeing how things go.
Interestingly, I've been using it Monday-Wednesday, and my workouts have been totally immense. To the point where yesterday, I felt like I was sore all over from stiff muscles and DOMS. I went towards the gym, but felt too tired and sore to go, and I had a fair bit of stuff to do before heading off to Berlin tonight. the interesting thing here is that I did take the above supplements before leaving work, and by the time I got home, all muscle soreness was gone. Very interesting. It did return later, but it appears that either H-Blocker, PWR or the combination of them removes DOMS for a period... I shall have to investigate further.

MISSION STATUS: Having fought a variety of enemies of the Greater Good, this Kavaal Cadre has been chosen to spearhead new colonisation efforts. Three Aun and a number of Por are accompanying them in case negotiations are required. Significant reinforcements are en route, and once the cadre has been resupplied and reinforced it will set course for new worlds. Despite being from N'Dras, commander Shadow of Dawn has earned a reputation that has led him to be supplied with a number of experimental battle suits and other equipment that is normally reserved for other commanders. As such, he will be trialling XV-8x variants, the battle suits of commanders R'Alai & R'myr, as well as field trialling extensive use of XV-9 variants.

As I am looking at getting a new machine, I will also be needing more monitors.
So, do I get one 30" monitor (Possibly with two 24" in portrait mode at the sides, or do I get 3 or four widescreens in portrait mode with another two in landscape mode along the top...
Sometimes you gotta ask yourself what takes longer: A) Compiling a list of Windows updates required, getting stakeholders to agree which updates can be installed, downloading and installing 50ish Windows updates & dealing with any issues. Or B) Just hitting the 'download' and 'install all' buttons and then fix any issues...
And of course, WSUS and the Windows Update site doesn't agree on how many updates are needed...

She admits that she was doing "something" this morning, but she isn't sure what (quelle surprise)...
She can log onto another machine and use Outlook fine, and OWA works fine as well, so it must be a local setting.
I have deleted her MAPI profile and deleted C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook, but without joy. I removed her local profile (They don't user roaming profiles), and still the same issue. I have repaired outlook, but no joy either.
This makes me think that she has somehow made a global change in outlook, but I can't figure out what it could be.
So far I have spent nearly 4 hours on this. It would have been faster to rebuild her machine. /sigh /wrists

It's interesting how being focused in the gym carries over to other parts of my life.
I have recently been very slack in the gym, and that meant my studies have been going nowhere, my diet was terrible, I was more prone to having a few beers or a bottle of wine at home in the evening, running late in the morning and so on.
But now, being back in the gym, I feel more more focused again. I'm eating better, working out properly, I have managed to study more and so on and so forth.
Many small changes stack up.
Just a shame that Virgin Active is such a rubbish gym -_-

I really wonder sometimes, why the developers (Ha ha ha, the phrase about a thousand monkeys with typewriters spring to mind when thinking of Lotus Notes "developers") of Lotus Notes bothered to put in an 'Add to dictionary' button on their spellchecker when it doesn't bother remembering the words you put in...

Pop-ups in Windows that are 'focused'. And of course they pop up while I'm typing, so I don't even see what they said before I've clicked them away and don't know what I just said 'yes' or 'no' to.
Or... I just missed that critical notification from the OS saying that a client's server is about to melt -_-

Are there any e-mail clients, other than Lotus Notes (ha ha) obviously, that does not highlight or bolden a folder when it has unread e-mails in it? I am really genuinely curious whether there exists just one other e-mail client that lacks this rather important and fundamental feature...
So, my new routine. Fresh after a few weeks of not going to the gym...
Day 1 - Quad / Back Leg Extensions Squats Leg Press Deadlift Barbell Rows Barbell Rows Reverse Grip Superset: :Wide pulldowns :Behind Neck Pull downs :Reverse Grip Pull downs Roman Chair extensions 'Superman' extensions
Day 2 - Chest / Biceps Bench Press Chest dips Cable cross chest Incline Cable Flyes Superset: :Bench Press :EZ Bar curls Superset: :Dumb bell hammer curls :Push ups Cable curls low Cable curls high
Day 3 - Triceps / Shoulder / Traps Triceps Benchpress Rope Pull downs Rope Overhead Push V Handle Pushdown Superset: :Dumb bell shoulder press :Dumb bell shrug Superset: :EZ bar rows :Barbell shrugs Superset: Dumb bell side raise (Bent elbows) Dumb bell front raise (Hammer grip)
Day 3 Hamstrings / Calves / Forearms I haven't decided on the exercises for this yet.
Also, I do abs during each workout but I hit them differently. Meaning: Day 1 I might hit upper abs, day 2 lower abs, day 3 the obliques and so on.
Each of these sessions take almost exactly one hour and if something I want to use is taken, then I grab something that is as close to it as possible... Forexample, Chest Press machine if there are no benches for bench pressing, or hack squat machine instead of leg press.
I will keep to this routine for a month and see where it takes me.
I recently had reason to send this to Virgin and thought I'd share: Dear Sirs,
I am writing to complain about the utterly atrocious, but faithful to your reputation, service, that I have been on the receiving end of, from yourselves.
In June I placed an order for your fibre internet service and was given the date 19th of July as the date you would come and install the service.
I was then contacted by your wayleave team on the 30th of June asking me for details of my house and landlord so they could gain permission to install the cable and access to the property.
On the 4th of July I replied with the required information and the following day I received a confirmation e-mail assuring me that this was now being worked on. The references I was given were as follows: WMS Number: Customer Address: Customer Postcode:
Now, because Virgin has a well deserved reputation ineptuous asshattery and general incompetence, I didn't actually trust you to have gotten your thumb out of your collective arses and done anything other than sit around and play with yourselves, so on the 14th of july I called up your customer services to check what the progress was.
I am sure you can imagine my complete lack of surprise when I was told that your wayleave team had done sweet fuck all and no one was booked to come out and install the service.
Since then I have called up another couple of times and spoken with pleasant but utterly incompetent muggles and had a e-mail conversation with the feckless retards in your wayleave team. This conversation is stapled to this complaint.
At this point I came to suspect that you are taking part in a wellmeaning, but unfortunate, 'Care in the Community' scheme where you ferry in the local half-wits to do menial work that require a whole new level of ineptitude which only an imbecile can achieve. While a salute your support of the local community, I think it is unfair of you to deprive so many villages of their idiot.
My latest setback in the ongoing struggle to claw my way out of the technological dark ages and get internet access is your wayleave team saying: On Wed 03/08/11 16:35 , "Residential Wayleave" residentialwayleave@virginmedia.co.uk sent:
Hello Lars,
I have had confirmation from the escalation team that you will be contacted today regarding cabling your property.
Kind Regards, The Virgin Media Wayleave Team.
I am sure that you, dear reader, will be just as shocked as I was to learn that once again the cretins working for you were lying to me. I'm not sure why I thought, even for the briefest of moments, that this time might be different, but I did. Truly hope is but the first step on the road to disappointment. Today is Friday 5th of August and neither I nor my landlord has been contacted by your wayleave team or anyone wanting to come and install your service.
So, I have come to the following conclusions: 1) It would probably be easier and less painful for me to move house to get an internet connection, than to wait for Virgin to send some bungling incompetent out to install the cales. I suspect he/she would probably get it wrong anyway.
2) Virgin is actually a cleverly concealed stress simulator where you don't really provide services, you just torment the foolish with vague promises of internet connectivity.
3) Virgin does not actually want my custom nor my money. If that is the case, please say so and I will go elsewhere.
4) Virgin should change its name give that it really is quite fucked.
So, before I start writing my complaint to Ofcom, I would like to ask you if you could give me just one single good reason why I should continue the process to become a customer of yours?
Thursday morning we set out in a cab towards Luton. We got there and immediately started bumping into others heading towards Leipzig.
Eventually we made it to Berlin and met up with some others in the main train station. My primary reason for getting an 06:05 flight was so I could go to Berlin Zoo and have a look for a very specific soft toy polar bear. Although they had it, they only had it in a size that was far too big, so sadly I didn't get it.
We went for a bite to eat with others and made our way to the train station. Bengt had naturally forgotten to print our train tickets, so we took a 'nice' long walk around Berlin trying to find a place we could print them. Eventually we found a place, and Ben was helped by the kindly owner of an internet cafe who printed them for him.
Eventually we made it to Leipzig where we got to our various abodes, checked in, had a nap and went partying.
The rest of the trip was pretty much the usual German festival whirl of beer, meat and music :-)
Uncensured Highlights/lowlights include: Getting trashed on Jaeger and seeing Jimmi trying to give Joyce a piggy back on the way to Dark Flower. I don't actually remember this, but I have pictures :-) Myself being the cause of various Swedes trying to make moose/elk antlers behind people. Mostly behind me though :-o Beer. I don't think I had a single bad beer while I was there :-) Food, I absolutely love German festival food. The chinese duck by the Agra Halle was amazing. Agra Halle was a great venue for big-ish bands and I saw, amongst other, Gothminister, Umbra et Imago, Moonsorrow, Medieval Baebes, Destroid, Eluveitie and Faderhead there. Parkbuhne was another great venue (When it doesn't rais :-D) for mid-sized bands, and I saw Tactical Sekt, The Pain Machinery, Culture Kultur and Cryo there. Alte Messe 15 was an atrocious venue though. Because of the way the sound reverberated around and echoed every band I saw there sounded shit. There I saw Inertia (I like them, but the sound was too awful to enjoiy them), Mind In a Box and Absurd Minds. For the last two bands I stayed outside and chatted. Incidentally the sound was far better outside than inside... Kuppel Halle/Pantheon was a cool venue though. there I only saw Clock DVA whom I'm sure were great, but a bit too arty farty for me... Werk II is also a nice venue (Their potato wedges were amazing) but I only went there one for Alter Der Ruine who were a bit too much Noizey for me. The Pagan Village (Heidnisches Dorf) was great as always. I didn't spend as much time there as I would like, but it was very good. With gorgeous beer and lots of meet. Damnation, I have just realised that I forgot to try the archery at the Heidnisches Dorf. On their main stage I caught a few bands just by virtue of being there, but the only one I went there for specifically was Faun who were great as always. Had a rather lovely first day there with Joyce and her German friends, while vlad and Simona showed up a bit later.
Saturday/Sunday was, as already mentioned, a whirlwind of drinking, meat, bands and shopping :-)
By Monday I was absolutely shattered. At this point I was feeling bloated and fat from all the beer and meat I'd consumed and it was clear that I could really do with some fibre ;-)
By the time Eluveitie were over, the beer was starting to go down like a mouthful of razorblades and my eyes were closing by themselves. I went back to Moritzbastei to say by to people and had a couple of beers with people. Around 3am I felt it was time to hit the sack finally and I fell asleep in my hotel to BBC World news...
Although my hotel was alright, I don't think I'll be staying there again. I stayed in the Mercure and although it was conveniently located (10 minutes form Moritzbastei and on the tram route to Alte Messe) and not badly priced (£520 for 6 nights)I really can't recommend it. My double room was ok for one person, but I'd dread to think twhat it would be like for two. It was too dark even during the day and there was no aircon/ventilation so it was uncomfortably hot and humid throughout the festival. Having said that, I haven't stayed in anyof the other hotels in Leipzig as I stayed in the Sleepy Lion hostel last time.
Next year, it looks like a few of us will be trying to do a group booking with the Penta Hotel so we can take advantage of their free booze in the club lounge. But ideally, I would like a hotel with free breakfast and wi-fi. Otherwise one might as well stay in the Ibis or Novotel range of hotels.
So, Wave-Gotik Treffen was another successful festival. Now, onwards to the next one...
So, my first trip back to the gym since before Leipzig was this Saturday just gone. I expected to be in agony for some time… :-D And I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't until Wednesday the soreness subsided. Mmmmm...
I have trained my back really hard and very well for some time, but my chest is lagging behind quite badly, so I have decided to focus with laser like precision on my chest for the next two months.
I’ll do two chest workouts every 6-7 days, one ‘light’ with high reps and one heavy with 5-8 reps. I’m looking quite forwards to seeing how that will work out for me. Hopefully my left shoulder won't give out like it sometimes does -_-
The ‘light’ workouts should also see me doing all the good bodyweight exercises I don’t always do ^_^
Mmmm…
Well, it’s a journey rather than a destination, so I’ll just try to concentrate on a healthy and active lifestyle which is what has helped me make my back resemble a map of a mountain range rather than a flat and barren desert ;-)
Now it’s time to give my chest the same treatment.
Tonight, however, it's time to really brutalise my arms and hopefully my shoulders. The goal as always is to get bigger and better and stronger and faster!
Crikey, counting calories is bloody scary. On training days +/-1 my goal is about 3402 per day, and when I haev a couple of non-training days in a row it's about 2650. Yesterday I felt like I was doing nothing but eat and I only made it to 3000 calories (I forgot to make a note of how protein I had).
It is now 16:30 and I'm only at ~1230 (~100g protein). Oh well, I'm sure the delicious food I'll be having later in Garlic & Shots will be both calorie rich and protein dense enough to make up for it...
I'm going to have to buy more steak & Chicken :-D

So, I've had my HTC Desire Z for a while now, and although it is a great phone, I have a few issues with it:
1) The photo gallery stops reporting all pictures This is quite annoying. The gallery will report that there are, for example, 44 images but when I browse to the folder with a file manager utility I can see there are more. This is fixable by a reboot of the phone, but it's bloody annoying as it will happen again eventually.
2) Contacts stop being linked Linked contacts is a reasonably nifty concept where you see, for example, your phone contacts, Facebook friends, Twitter contacts and so on in your phone book, but instead of, potentially, having multiple entries for some people, you can link them so you only see one entry with all the information merged into the entry you can see. Good concept, but many of the contacts regularly get unlinked so I have to go through them and link them again. Very annoying.
3) HTC sense doesn't work Well, the online part of it doesn't. One of the selling points of the phone is that if you can't find it, you can go to their website and send a message to to the phone so it starts ringing loudly. You're also meant to be able to lock the phone and post a message on it in case it gets stolen. It should also keep a record of your contacts in case your phone breaks as well as your text messages so you can see them and reply to them even if you don't have your phone on you. This did all work, but if it breaks for you you're screwed. Their support people claim that they have been upgrading their servers and that's why it's not working. This they have been claiming since about November 2010...
4) Doesn't sync contacts/calendar with Outlook correctly. Well, I think I dealt with this in my last post -_-
How odd, you would've thought that by now there would be an app for syncing Outlook to my Android phone and vice versa.
There seems to be several that will happily copy calendar/contacts in both directions, but not actually synchronise them. And by the I mean (Just so we're all on the same page) that the app should look at my android and outlook contacts and compare them. The ones it recognises as being the same should then be merged so the information in both would just appear once in either contact list. Same for calendar information.
I'm totally ok with duplicates being created the first time I sync, but after that there is no excuse. Especially once I have gone through the contact list and pruned the duplicates.
I have a rather nice HTC Desire Z but, by the Emperor, the HTC 'sync' software is an abomination. The first time it 'syncs' it will copy contacts to Outlook, but after that it completely fails to make any updates in either contact list. And it doesn't do calendar syncing despite claiming that it does. The HTC sync software also causes another odd problem. At work, both where I am now and my last place, when I synced with Outlook most my contacts would no longer be 'choosable' i.e. if I put a recipients name in the 'To:' field in Outlook it won't resolve to one of my contacts. And if I click the 'To:' button so I can pick from the list of contacts the same ones wouldn't appear. Most vexing...
I then tried Android-Sync which can only be described as an insane contact list wrecker and ruiner of calendars... After taking a back-up of my contact list I let loose the dogs of war and damn, did they go to town... Most of my contacts were triplicated and some I suddenly had 4+ of in my contact list. So much fail, so little time. My calendar was suddenly full of the birthdays of everyone on my Facebook friends list. Again 3+ of each of them... And other calendar items were duplicated or triplicated again. Now, I'm actually ok with this in principle, but after I had gone through my contact list and re-synced all the duplicates returned. WTF!!!!
So, in short, ARGH. How very very annoying.
So, any suggestions for Outlook/Android sync tools?
Linux day 35. My will to go on has finally been sapped to the point where I'm going to stop struggling and return to a proper OS that has been tried and tested.
Why is this? ( This is why:Collapse ) Anyway, this coming weekend will see my return to Windows 7 on my desktop. Once again we see that no, Linux is definitely not ready for the desktop yet...
For the very simple reason that if I wasn't running Linux but instead Windows, I'd be playing WoW by now instead of having wasted the warchief only knows how many hours trying to get it to work...
Just quickly, thanks to everyone who's helped so far...
So, anyway, let's see if we can get a game running...
What the heck? As soon as I try to watch a video on TED.com my machine starts to stall and all other apps keep freezing. The video stream is thankfully uninterrupted, but I can forget about using other apps effectively.
I'm starting to miss windows, but I will forge ahead.
Things I don't understand:
1) Why is it that after I have installed an application (In this case VMWare) the link to said app decides to disappear suddenly. And without a convenient .exe file to use for starting I now seem to have to open a shell and type the application name, vmware, which at least works, but it's now unstable as hell...
2) Why won't it let me stay signed into Livejournal (And presumably other sites)? Firefox will happily let me stay logged in on other machines. Windows machines that is.
The e-mail clients I have seen so far has been ugly as hell and virtually featureless. Sigh, I miss Outlook already.
The one thing I will say is great though is the desktop background. that's pretty sweet. Other than that, so far windows beats this Linux stuff hands down. But I suppose that that is what you get when you compare a hobby OS to a proper corporate OS...
My to do list for tonight: 1) Get VMWare up and running on Ubuntu 2) Get sound working on Ubuntu 3) Figure out what I need to do to get my World of Warcraft authenticator removed from my account 4) Iron shirt for tomorrow
My priorities may, or may not, be in that order ;-)
Busy evening -_-

This time I don't have any drives with NTFS to cause trouble like I did last time and I'm determined to get everything running properly.
Last time I had some help (http://lpetersson.livejournal.com/664533.html) and thanks to the power of tagging I found it again, so I'm ready to get VMWare up and running either tonight or tomorrow.
I'm not in a rush to get VMWare running, unlike last time, so if it takes a while, so be it. The Emperor provides!
Most things seems to be working so far...

If it is not possible to script access to the web version, then it will be a convenience for when you want to check how much Saronite is or you want to quickly relist a few things. No serious seller will, I think, use this regularly without all the add-ons that allow them to list 1000s of auctions and check prices.
If it is scriptable, then I'll be afraid of where this dark path takes them. This would then be the first step, IIRC, down the dark path of 'Paying for items/services that provide an in-game advantage'. Ironically, without the ability to script access, this is of almost no interest to me.
There is another thing to bear in mind though, Battlenet is probably the slowest site I have ever had the misfortune of having to access on a (semi)regular basis. I don't know if other regions are as slow as the EU version, but I would say that if this is run on the same servers with the same slowness then it won't matter if is scriptable or not, it will be too slow for anyone to be able to use it without becoming aggravated by the slowness and frequent timeouts...
I sincerely hope Blizzard isn't jumping the shark here...
