Bringing together Giles/Anya and certain other Buffyverse characters including my beloved Spike with Harry Pierce who got his Ruth, Adam and Danny in a monster crackfic crossover with the Strange-Norrell verse with bits of Sharp, Alias, Angel to add to the fun.

Worked out over a long drive in the fog with ljs after a lovely evening watching ASH in a play.

After sitting outside a polling station wearing a red rosette all day and thawing out with a cup of tea. Outlasted the Tory teller by 45 minutes. Only celeb voted but I represented, smiled, held dogs was nice to voters and stayed civil to obnoxious public school boys and thanked our voters. Lets hope it was worth it.

An entire hours of complete and utter fanservice. Ross and Demelza in love. Supporto Rogue Guy. Awesome Demelza trying so hard. Wonderful, adorable Verity. Demelza-Verity BFF. Elizabeth not being done down as a character by being a bitch to Demelza. Ross and Demlza in bed with shitless Aidan Turner. Snoging and Snuggling, Strong women. Hot and Good Men doing the right thing and Bad Bankers. Demelza dealing with the pie thief. Demelza and pies. Ross. Horses. Scenery. Ross. Big White Floaty shirt while bringing the catch in in the sea. That singing. Even pichards and copper.
I got an entire episode of complete fanservice
I'm a Spike fan. I'm much more used to being bashed in the face with a giant fish rather than Pilchards Yay. I'm not used to this. I'm really not used to this. But I really liked it.

Thanks to everyone who sent me all those lovely birthday greetings. I went on a tour of Stamford Bridge and got to sit in Jose Mourinho's storming out of press conferences chair - Wibble - , the dugout, dressing rooms, Silverware in the museum et al. Then I did the very pretty if silly Jupiter Ascending before my cold sent me home to zonk out on the sofa.

While it is only Krisssmuss!!! when Wor Noddy says it is and can only really be enjoyed properly in the orginal Black Country, it appears I have been watching too much news recently for even medicinal Slade. So a bit of Greg Lake instead. And its so sad how little has changed.

Probably my favourite of the season thus far. Though as as local - North East, from the Cromwell Road to Trafalger Square? You'd end up in Oxford St. It's East along Piccadilly and Leicester Sq and then south or hack through Green Park, along the Mall and turn right at Admiralty Arch. /someone who does both.

When you're reading the second Conn Iggulden War of the Roses series and a Percy is sent to massacre a Neville wedding party and you find yourself heading towards Wikipedia to see if the bride survived (as you know Sailsbury did even though you weren't sure about his son, given that all the attention goes to his sisters Anne Neville and Isabel.)

The Starks's so get the Percy general complete lack of common sense problem while the Neville Breed Like Rabbits went to the Frays, even while the smart bastard factor goes to the senior Bolton.

The series is quite a good read, with an unusually sympathetic Margaret of Anjou and a complete Stu as Team Lancaster sypmaster and the first one is Jack Cade's Rebellion heavy and the actual Wars haven't started yet even though we've just got to the second book.

Anyone waiting for the next Rivers of London and who hasn't already read it should really give Paul Cornell's London Falling a go. The (modern) Sweeney vs the Dark Forces. Four main characters - two of whom are Black and one of those is gay - the main woman character gets the angsy backstory and the white male DI who reports to a woman superior officer. London in all its power, horror, weight of history and its Will Fuck Your Shit Up of anyone who tries it on. Football with bloody consequences. An undercover job which takes a supernatural turn with very lasting and very scary consquences. And a genuinely scary Little and Big Bad. Well worth reading.
Though those with triggers about off page violence done to child victims might find this too much.

Inspired by SoccerAid 2014 having James McAvoy and Jeremy Renner, what would be your ideal X-Men/Avengers first team?

I'm lucky as the cinema down the road does National Theatre Live and did this RSC production Encore in the same style. As the last film I saw there was Coriolanus and as it is the same play as the first in The Hollow Crown. As I've also just finished Dan Jones 'The Plantagenets' this review may alsp contain gratuitous historical references.[Spoiler (click to open)]
As this production strarts with the coffin of the Duke of Gloucester (brother to John of Gaunt and the Duke of York and Uncle to the King who had him killed) complete with Jane Laportaire as furiously grieving Widow/Aunt we do get a good show of Why Richard Had To Go. This also explains at least some of the hostility between Bollingbrook and Mowbray though misses out the whole Lords Appelant thing where all three were among the high nobility who tried to force their capricious and tyranical monarch to rule according to Magna Carta, rule of law and the like and misses out that this period is immediately after Richard tries and fails to destroy those who tried to constrain him after a period where he was on his better behaviour. All of which does explain why John of Gaunt is so out to try and save his son from he consequences of Appelanting. And does set up the situation at the trial by combat better.

This is a tyranical, capricious and erratic Richard II rather than the fey Hollow Crown version. Though there is a hurt comfort kiss with Aumerle complete with close up and chemistry. Aumerle still ends up doing heel turns but - text and canon. Though the text and play does play down Aumerle's complicity in Ricardian tyranny as well as keeping his mother alive rather than the stepmother for dramatic licence.

DT does wear a gown but it is longer and none sheer. Dungeon rips do expose the chesticles and bare feet fans will love it as mercurial Richard does lose his shoes a lot. He does inject humour and snark as well as imperiouness, political ineptitude and mercurial self pity. Though my eyes did tend to slide over to Oliver Rix's Aumerle, which didn't happen in Holllow Crown or with Hiddles. DT was good but this was not the tour de force of Hiddles in Coriolanus.

It does have an awesome John of Gaunt England speech from Michael Pennington, which was better than the Hollow Crown for being played as dying prophet.

Bollingbrook was not as good as THC but still perfectly fine. Isabella was aged up as normal. The York family pleading was tragi-comic and really worked. It was good production and well worth seeing on its own merits. And the forthcoming Henry IV looks really good and the Hal commercial for it was really appealing. Again playing the knowing and playing a part Hal a la HC.
