Reparations Roundtable

Reparations Roundtable started in 2017 as a Black-led reparations organization moving Black and/or Indigenous People of Color of marginalized genders (BIPOC MaGes) from crisis to sustainability. Since then we have redistributed more than $500,000 of white wealth to BIPOC MaGes. At any given time we are assisting around two dozen people. Though our membership is largely white/adjacent folks, we recognize we are tasked with DOING the work, not LEADING it. We are accountable to every Black MaGe we assist and every Black organizer in the space. We are also accountable to each other and affirm that a critical piece of engaging in reparations work as white folks is the need to continually unpack the violent white supremacy we carry within us.We do NOT hold funding. All funds are redistributed to assistees for their needs. Black organizers determine who receives funding, though we recognize that ALL Black people are owed reparations. As we continue to grow, some of the goals our Black organizers have identified include the purchase of real estate in key cities around the country to be given to Black MaGes and their families, assisting with paying off student loans and tuition, purchase of temporary safe housing for domestic-violence survivors, and more. Each dollar received goes directly to the reparational projects Black organizers task us with. Join us in this life-affirming work! Basic Redistribution

You are committed to reparations, but don't have much to give. That's OK! At this level, you're contributing to a Black MaGe's self-care, including a trip to a cafe with friends, body care items, a monthly streaming subscription -- whatever healing looks like for them!

Assistee Self-Care 

This is our most popular tier. At this level, you can help sustainably fund grocery orders for Black MaGes who live in food apartheid (where grocery stores and fresh foods are largely inaccessible).

Grocery Order

At this level, you can help sustainably fund medical costs, including copays, medication prescriptions and gender-affirming care for the Black MaGes we assist.

Health Care and Medical Copays

At this level, you can fund sustainable coverage of utilities and other basic living necessities. With this funding, you are contributing toward keeping Black MaGes and their children housed and safe.

Keeping the Lights On

At this level, you can sustainably fund a Black MaGe's ability to begin building savings, pay down credit-card debt or any emergency situations that may come up. Financial freedom for Black MaGes can lead to better ability to plan for the future and disrupt racial capitalism.

Emergency Savings

The rent is due! Once we are able to house a Black family in crisis, we often commit to funding rent for a determined amount of time to allow them to get on their feet and back to sustainability. At this level, you are sustainably contributing to about half of one family's rental costs each month.

Paying the Rent

This is the goal for many of our assistees -- homeownership! Redistributing funds at this level allows us to assist families with down payments and mortgages, as well as purchasing property to be used for emergency housing and healing spaces.
