StudyHub

In 2019, the first co-studying space
in Sofia opened its doors for the first time. It is called StudyHub and is an
idea of Association “Students in action”. 

 

StudyHub is a co-studying space, working in a
similar way to a co-working space. It has areas for individual studying, as
well as such for group projects, networking between students of different
universities and specialties, and educational events and lectures. StudyHub is
located in Studentski grad, close to public transport stations. It works 24/7,
has constant video surveillance for security and is wheelchair accessible. The
access to StudyHub is granted via subscription cards, available for students of
any university. 

 

Association
“Students in Action” is the organization that created StudyHub. It consists of
young people, studying in two metropolitan universities – Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and
New Bulgarian University. The idea is born due to the fact that Studentski grad
is overflowing with over 200 coffee shops, night clubs, etc, but in the whole
neighborhood there is only one library. That has urged the students Martina
Georgieva and Tsvetomira Gyaurova to look for a quieter place to study, for
example – a gas station. Where, as it turns out, they met lots of other
students who also experienced their problem. 

 

That’s how project StudyHub was born – a place which
aims to grant young people in Sofia a 24-hour accessible place
to study. A place where they can read up, collaborate with each other and
develop their skills in the process of finishing their Bachelor’s degree and
starting their professional realization. 

 

StudyHub opened its
doors for all students on 01.10.2019 and is already a favorite place in
Studentski grad for over 1000 students. In the process of opening, we had the
support of companies like IKEA, Sutherland, Progress, Sofia Tech Park and many
more. In the summer, StudyHub is a host to a few courses in different topics – Volunteering,
Cinema, Musical Production. Since StudyHub opened, it has hosted over 50 events
and has over 500 books in it. For the next academic year, our team has planned
lots of interesting events, which will be announced soon. 

 

In Bulgaria there
are no similar co-studying spaces yet. Our team’s point of view is that such a
place creates an active student community, increases students’ results and grants a space
for a better studying. The opportunity for teachers, organizations and
businesses to have a place for initiatives in the interests of students, helps
the next generations become morecompetitive
specialists.
