Tangles

The three body problem in physics involves calculating the motion of three bodies under mutual gravitational attraction. This seemingly simple system is chaotic in a mathematical sense and near-identical initial conditions result in wildly different, unpredictable trajectories. Driven by a suspicion that there was beauty hiding in this mess, a tool was developed to explore these trajectories interactively. The most interesting finds formed the basis for this series of prints.
