Nick was so exicted to start Kindergarten, in fact I think this whole thing was much harder on me then on him. I'm not sure what he was more exicted about, the bus ride or wearing his new shoes. He is still pretty shy though, the teacher gave him a worksheet that we had to write all his favorite things on and attach a picture of our family on it and when we went to grab it for him to take to school we realized that Riley had colored on it. I told him to just tell the teacher and she would probably give him a new one. After school I asked him what she had said and he said he didn't give it to her because he was afraid it would make her sad. Such a sensitive soul he is, or he just doesn't want to use the "My dog ate my homework" on the first day of school.

Dad's Grave

Image
Image A good friend from our ward made us these temporary grave markers. We love this picture of Nick and Grandpa. (It was actually taken at Nate and Sunny Huntsman's wedding). Nick represents all our children, with him being our oldest son to carry on the Shumway name. Nick and Grandpa always had a special bond ever since Nick was born.

Most of the holidays were spent with Pete's family. We were blessed to have Gary there and feeling pretty good. There's nothing quite like the noise of having lots of family around. Since then Gary's health has steadily declined and they are giving him weeks. Needless to say we are trying to spend as much time with him and Glenda as possible.

ImageImageUncle Andy and Mattex, I'm not sure who wore who out.
ImageI swear this is Mattie's new best friend. He absolutely loved his cousin Jared.
ImageOur sweet little nieces, Aubrey, and KK.
ImageNick thought he was sooo cool rocking out with his cousins, Jared and Michael. He really gets into it. We ended up getting him a drum set for Christmas, which he loves. He is constantly holding concerts and threatening to cancel them if we don't go in his room and listen. What's it going to be music or sports?

She is one of my favorite artists and has been forever. So if you want some great new Christmas music, this is it.

We LOVE Halloween!!! Every year we have a block party with a fire and everyone brings food and treats. The kids run around in their costumes all night and gorge on candy. People around the neighborhood stop by for hot chocolate and to sit around and chat. We are so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors and such great friends.

Nick's first day of preschool

Image
Image Nick's first day of preschool. He loved it, I on the other hand cried on the way home. I just can't believe he's old enough to go to preschool and next year kindergarten. Where does the time go? As long as he knows that girls have kooties, I'm OK.
