How to get Adobe Student discount

By Matic Broz ·

The Adobe student discount is a special pricing offer that makes the Creative Cloud All Apps subscription much more affordable for eligible students and educators.

Instead of paying the standard rate of $59.99 per month, qualified individuals can get access to the entire suite of over 20 creative desktop and mobile apps at a 66% discount. This works out to $19.99 per month for the first year and $34.49 per month upon renewal.

In this guide, I will explain the specific steps to claim your Adobe student discount, as well as who qualifies, and more.

Table of contents:

How to get the Adobe student discount

Here’s a quick rundown of how to claim your Adobe student discount:

  1. Head to Adobe Creative Cloud for students pricing page.
  2. Click Buy now or Free trial.
  3. Select your desired billing option.
  4. Create or sign in to your Adobe account.
  5. Enter your payment method.
  6. Confirm your student status.

And now for the details.

Step 1: Go to Adobe’s student plan page

To get started, navigate to Adobe’s dedicated student discount page: https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/buy/students.html.

Click the Buy now button if you’re ready to start immediately, or Free trial if you want to try the software before you commit.

Note: Starting the free trial will also require you to enter payment details, and you will convert to the paid student subscription after the trial period unless you cancel, so both paths lead to the same discounted plan.

Step 2: Choose annual or monthly billing

Next, you’ll select your preferred plan option. As a student, you can opt between two annual options, but there’s not month-to-month plan.

  • Annual, billed monthly: US$19.99/month ($239.88/year), billed every month.
  • Annual, billed upfront: US$239.88 in a single payment (also works out to $19.99/month).

Both plans offer the same 66% discount from regular pricing. Choose the payment schedule that works best for your budget, and click Continue. Adobe lets you cancel and get a full refund within 14 days of your purchase if you change your mind.

Step 3: Create or sign in to your Adobe Account

If you haven’t already created an Adobe ID, you’ll need to do so now—it’s completely free. Simply enter your email and create a password.

Having a school-issued email address (ending in .edu or .k12) will make your verification even quicker. If you don’t have a school email, you can use a regular email address and provide further verification later.

Click Continue to proceed to payment.

Step 4: Enter your billing information

Adobe will next ask you to set up a payment method. You have the option to pay with either a credit/debit card or PayPal. Fill in the corresponding details and then review your purchase.

Even if you’re doing the free trial, Adobe needs valid payment information to prevent free trial abuse and to ensure smooth service once your trial ends.

Remember, you won’t be charged until after verification, and Adobe gives you a full refund if you cancel within the first 14 days.

Click Continue to move forward (you won’t be billed just yet).

Step 5: Verify your educational status

Once your payment details are entered, you’ll see an Educational status verification form. Fill out your information truthfully:

  • Select whether you’re a Student or Teacher.
  • Enter your school nameprimary area of study, and graduation month and year.

Click Agree and subscribe to start your Creative Cloud subscription with a student discount.

Adobe student discount education status verification

If you created an account using a valid school-issued email address (e.g., ending in .edu, .k12), you will be verified immediately. If you don’t have a school-issued email, Adobe will send an email asking for additional proof, such as your student ID, transcript, report card, or tuition bill. Upload one of these documents, which should include your name, school name, and a recent date within six months.

Verification takes a few hours (often even less), after which you’ll receive confirmation via email that your subscription is active.

Who is eligible for the Adobe student discount?

Adobe has specific criteria to ensure the discount reaches its intended audience. To qualify for the Adobe Creative Cloud student discount, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You need to be currently enrolled in a university or college, primary or secondary school, or be homeschooled.

Adobe needs to confirm that you are indeed an eligible student or teacher. They primarily do this in one of the two ways.

Option 1. School-issued email address

This is the fastest and easiest method. Using an email address provided by your school (one ending in .edu, .k12, or another recognized educational domain) when you sign up for the discount (as I explained in Step 3 above), allows Adobe to verify your status instantly.

If your school’s domain is in their system, you won’t need to do anything else.

Option 2. Document upload

If you don’t have a school-issued email, if your email domain isn’t automatically recognized, or if Adobe requires additional proof, you’ll be asked to submit documentation.

You’ll receive an email with instructions after your purchase. Acceptable documents must clearly show your name, the institution’s name, and a current date (within the last six months). Viable options include:

  • School ID card: Must have a current date or date showing current enrollment.
  • Report card: Must be for the current academic period.
  • Transcript: Official or unofficial, showing current enrollment.
  • Tuition bill or statement: Must show your name, school name, and current date/term.
  • Homeschool documentation: This could be a dated copy of a letter of intent to homeschool, a current membership ID for a homeschool association, or dated proof of curriculum purchase for the current year.

Adobe reviews these documents to confirm your eligibility. Once verified, your discounted access continues.

How long does the Adobe student discount last?

Adobe’s student discount pricing for Creative Cloud lasts for one full year from your sign-up date. You cannot subscribe for less than a year.

For the first 12 months, you benefit from the largest savings, paying just $19.99 per month. Starting in your second subscription year, you’ll remain eligible for student pricing but at a slightly higher monthly rate of $34.99 per month (still discounted compared to regular pricing).

Adobe student discount renewal prices

Each year, Adobe will automatically verify your continuing student eligibility as long as you remain enrolled in an eligible school or institution. If your status as a student expires or you graduate, your student rate continues until your annual subscription is renewed.

Prior to renewal, Adobe will notify you of any pricing changes, giving you plenty of time to consider your options.

Adobe student discount: FAQs

Do you still have questions? Here are answers to some common questions I get about the Adobe Student discount.

Is Adobe Creative Cloud free for college students?

No, Adobe Creative Cloud is not free for students. But Adobe offers a 7-day free trial of the All Apps plan. After the trial, the discounted student pricing applies (e.g., US$19.99/mo for the first year, then US$34.99/mo, requiring an annual commitment).

How long does an Adobe student membership last?

The membership requires a one-year commitment, billed either upfront annually or monthly. It auto-renews each year at the applicable student rate unless you cancel. You need to remain an eligible student or teacher to qualify for the discounted rate upon renewal.

How many computers can I use my student Creative Cloud membership on?

You can install the Adobe apps on multiple computers (e.g., a desktop and a laptop). However, your individual license allows you to be signed in (activated) on two computers at a time, but you can only actively use the software on one computer at any given moment.
