How much does Photoshop cost?

By Matic Broz ·

I’ve been using Photoshop since the days when you could actually buy the software outright, rather than subscribing monthly. And while my wallet occasionally mourns the simpler times, there’s no denying that Adobe’s subscription model has opened up a lot more flexibility for us creatives.

With recent pricing changes in January 2025, Adobe raised its Photoshop pricing and bid farewell to the popular entry-level Photography (20GB) plan, previously just $9.99 per month. This shake-up has left subscribers wondering if Photoshop still offers bang for the buck, even as new creatives consider jumping in.

How much is Photoshop?

To buy Photoshop, you need a Creative Cloud subscription. A Photoshop single-app plan costs $22.99 per month (with an annual commitment) and includes 100GB of online storage. If you opt for a month-to-month plan, the price goes up to $34.49 per month. If you prepay for a full year, the cost works out to $263.88 ($21.99 per month).

You can do a little better with the Photography plan, which goes for $239.88 per year or $19.99 per month. This gets you Photoshop, both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom, and 1TB of cloud storage. Adobe recently eliminated its best plan for new subscribers: $9.99 per month for Photoshop, both versions of Lightroom, and 20GB of cloud storage.

A full Creative Cloud subscription, which gets you all the suite’s design, photography, and video applications, costs $59.99 per month with an annual commitment.

How much does Photoshop cost for students?

While there’s no student discount on Photoshop plans, education users (students and teachers) can get a 66% discount on the All Apps plan, which includes both versions of Lightroom. If you prove your eligibility, you can get All Apps for just $19.99 per month for the first year and $34.49 per month upon renewal.

To verify your eligibility, you can sign up for an Adobe account using a school-issued email address (.edu, .k12, or other domains sponsored by educational institutions). If you don’t have access to a school email, alternative proof such as a school ID card, report card, transcript, or tuition bill or statement also works.

How much is Photoshop for teams?

Teams can buy Photoshop with two different subscriptions: the Photoshop Teams plan for $37.99 per month per license, and the Creative Cloud All Apps Teams plan for $89.99 per month per license. There is no Photography plan for teams.

Compared to the Photoshop plans for individuals, teams get more cloud storage, an admin dashboard to manage licenses and projects, and better customer support.

Photoshop pricing: FAQs

I’ve seen Photoshop pricing evolve through several stages, from a one-time purchase to multiple subscription price adjustments. Here are the most frequently asked questions I get.

Can I buy Photoshop outright?

Adobe no longer offers Photoshop as a one-time purchase; it is now available exclusively through a subscription model introduced with Adobe Creative Cloud in 2013.

Is there a Photoshop free trial?

Adobe offers a free trial of Photoshop, allowing you to test the software before committing to a subscription. During this trial period, you can explore the features and interface to determine if it meets your needs.

Should I get Adobe Stock with Photoshop?

During the purchase stage of Photoshop, Adobe will offer to include 10 Adobe Stock images with your Photoshop subscription for $29.99 per month, and with a 1-month free trial.

Adobe Stock is natively integrated into most Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop, which allows you to browse and import images, videos, templates, audio, and more directly within Photoshop, eliminating the need to use a browser. At the same time, you can use watermarked previews of any number of assets and only license the ones that make it to the final version.
