The new guy...

Hello all! I'm a newcomer to this community. I learned C++ in high school, which later helped me to get a job with a web design company doing PHP, and here I am. For all you newbies out there... I'd highly suggest picking up a book on C++ if you want to learn PHP. In general, I find that a lot of open source projects like PHP, MySQL, and so on, is that a lot more time is spent on technical documentation than on tutorials for beginners to start learning about those projects. C++, however, has a plethoria of good resources for beginners who want to start learning, and if you can learn C++, PHP is a snap. Books by O'Reilly & Associates and Wrox Press are generally pretty good for any computer-related topic you may want to research. For the most part, I say that you won't really learn until you try. So grab a copy of PHP, install your preferred web server, and start coding! :)
