PHP IMAP Functions

Does anyone know anything about the IMAP functions in PHP? I'm trying to cobble together a little something cos our company firewall wont let IMAP calls out, and Hotmail is so damn slow . . . but the manual has pretty much zero information on what the functions return. I get some mysterious arrays with mysterious things in, but not a lot of use ;)

I've got it to display a list of messages in the inbox, and I can kinda view the message body, but past that I'm shctuck.

Anyone?
