MySQL Database Size

I'm writing a forum (for fun). For curiousity's sake, I would like to have a PHP script get the size of threads / replies tables. Nothing fancy, just for the admin to say, "Oh hey, we got 1mb worth of posts." I am wondering if it's possible to do this - I'm at an impass.
