I have an emac running OS X 10.2 and I'd like to install PHP so I can test websites locally before uploading them to the web. This is my first foray into PHP, Apache and everything else and I can't seem to get past step 1. I've tried installing PHP and Apache using numerous tutorials on the web, both through installation packages and by using the terminal. From what I can tell everything seems to be installed properly and when I tried to start the server in the terminal it said it was already running. The problem is that I can't load php pages. I'm not trying to do anything advanced, just load the basic page that's at the end of all the tutorials which simply includes a line that returns info about php. When I try to load it into a browser window that already has a page loaded into it nothing happens. When I try to load it into a new browser window the status bar says getting info for test.php and then eventually times out or does nothing. I should point out that I've only had my mac for about a year and know next to nothing about using the terminal or the way a mac is set up so I'm relying heavily on tutorials I find online for all of this. Because of that this is becoming hugely frustrating because I don't have a clue as to what the problems could be. Any help would be much appreciated.
