It says this community's open for anybody, so here I go..
My name's Blair, and I have no clue about php. I know a few things, very very basic things. I use editplus to edit php files, and I upload them to a free webserver which supports php3 and php4 files. I've run files that have worked on it before, so I'm sure of that.
Anyway.. My best friend does a roleplaying chat based on the Star Wars stories. He's really into it, and we try to help each other out when help's needed. I actually got assigned the task to fix the registration form for it. He used formbuddy, which has actually been down for a time now.. I played with the html first. Got the html figured out for how it should look. This is the old one, and this is the one I've been working on.
So the problem is, I pulled up the php coding from several different people which posted theirs on hotscripts.com. Now the first two I tried used a .html file and had the post action directed to a php file. Well, those didn't work. I had a few people look at them and they couldn't figure it out. Now I really like this one I'm using, except that when you try to submit the form it says :: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mail() in /users/ionichost.com/blairie/try/maianma
Which just means that there's a problem in line 10. Well this form posts to maianmail.php which uses configure.php for something.
Eh, and it uses the eregi function..
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone's willing to painfully help me figure this out over AIM. I'm just really clueless about this whole thing.
