flat databases
hi all ... first post, and i'm afraid i've got quite a complicated problem.
i've got to develop a relatively sophisticated online booking system for my employer, which is a major british university. normally, i wouldn't break a sweat doing this, but the webspace i'm being allocated by computing services doesn't have a backend database associated with it; it does, however, have php4.
therefore, i've been looking at flat file databases. the most promising appeared to be idya's dbx, which supposedly allows you to manipulate data stored in xml through standard sql queries - but the website has been pulled. i've found nothing that will do anything similar, but maybe you folks know of something, preferably written in php? i know it's quite a big request ...
