Colton surprised me and sent me a bouquet to my work for Valentine's day.
Isn't he the sweetest?!
We also had chocolate pie for our Valentine's treat!
Rodeo and Stock Show
That Friday night we had a date to the biggest indoor rodeo! (Andrea was opening her mission call while we were driving over there...)
The roll out big plastic sheets and then filled the Spurs' basketball court with dirt! The Spurs have to play all their game on the road during the month that the rodeo is going on. It's called "The Rodeo Road Trip."
Our seats were kind of in the nose-bleed section, but it was still fun! :)
This was the calf chase. The kids had to run a calf down, put a halter on it, and then take it back to the other end of the arena across the finish line. There were several calves that figured out that if they played dead, they didn't have to go through as much trauma. They literally laid there like they were dead until the adults came and took the halters off. Then they shot up like a rocket and high-tailed it out of there!
After the rodeo, there was a concert. Hunter Hayes was the singer that night. Watching them set up the stage was pretty cool.
Hunter Hayes is in the house!
The stage slowly rotated around so everyone could see.
Another Date Night
On Friday nights, it only costs a dollar to get into the fairgrounds, so we decided to get another date night out of the Stock show.
We were feeling pretty out of place in our little Civic...
"You comin'?"
"Yee-Haw!"
Walking through the cow barn.
This was the coolest cow we found!
Watching the calf judging.
Show's over...
There was a carnival there, but we didn't trust our lives to any of the rickety rides...
Then we found the horse barn.
Then they started showcasing some cutting horses that were for sale. We had to stay and watch in honor of Beth! :)
Then they showcases some of the ranch horses that were also for sale.
They also had kind of little booths and shops set up.
Aren't these the cutest tiny boots you have ever seen?
This little shop had beautiful leather/hide throws. As you can see, they do neat things with leather.
There was also a Children's Discovery Barn that was fun to walk through.
They had plants you could grow in your garden.
Fruit trees.
A bee keeper telling us about bees and honey.
They also had little horse you could pet. They also made us think of Beth. :)
And of course, what rodeo would be complete without John Wayne?
